Chapter 21: Timid Coward but useful (1)
**Splat**
A sound of flesh reached everyone's ears and it felt like time stood still for a second and everything was silent.
"Onee-san!!"
That silence was then broken by a horrified scream of a young girl.
Fumi gained control of her body as she saw the horrifying sight in front of her.
"?"
Shizuka was dumbfounded, she didn't know what went wrong she was sure that she would hit its face but for some reason its long nails were now stabbed on her side.
Indeed she would've hit its face if it were a normal zombie charging ahead but an Ech has strong legs and long reach it was inevitable that the Ech's attack would reach her first.
The Ech smiled and open its mouth wide as it closed in to Shizuka's Face.
"No you will not!"
Natashia quickly threw some kind of glass bottle at the Ech and it landed on its shoulder triggering a loud painful scream from it.
"Screeeeeeee!!!"
It was acid, the fluid inside the glass bottle was acid strong enough to melt muscles and bones and it was very effective against the Ech as it screamed in pain and threw Shizuka away not caring that it just wasted its food.
"Onee-san!"
Fumi quickly ran towards were Shizuka landed.
"Grraaa!!"
Other zombies now tried to attack the now defenseless Shizuka it would be easy to eat an injured prey, the situation gave Fumi an intense sense of crisis as she ran faster.
*I need to run faster!!*(Fumi)
*Here I'll help you kid*(Rogue)
[Flash Step: Activated]
The world warped in Fumi's eyes as she took a stride forward
And she arrived at her sister.
Thankfully she was able to arrive on time before any of the zombies reached her sister.
"Graaaa!!"
**Tsing** **Splat**
Fumi stabbed the nearest zombie and tried her best to defend her sister. Her movements were erratic and broken it was similar to a crazy man swinging around a knife.
*Calm down Kid! You're gonna get us killed !"(Rogue)
While Fumi was facing the ghouls around her sister Natashia had to deal with her own crisis.
*I don't have much Mana anymore*
She had been swinging her knife with a pseudo-enchantment applied and so far she was able to hold out but this way of attacking was now reaching its limits and the number of ghouls just kept increasing thanks to a screaming ghoul.
*That's probably the Ech.. its indeed a troublesome enemy*
It was still screaming as loud as it can while writhing from the pain of it's melting skin and muscles.
*I threw an acid to it but my aim was off because Shizuka was to close if only it had hit its face the acid would've reached his brain by now*
Natashia was in haste when she threw the acid but thanks to that she was able to save Shizuka from being bitten to death.
*Another problem is the fact that Shizu-san was stabbed by the Nails she'd turn if I don't use my skill Heal on time.. I would love to help her but..*
"Grrrea!!"
**Tsik** **Sizzle**
*I can't right now*
Natashia herself was getting surrounded by ghouls and the only silver lining was the fact that the Ech didn't start attacking yet.
*This would've been the perfect opportunity to escape but*
Natashia momentarily casted her gaze towards where the unconscious Shizuka and fighting Fumi was.
"Haaahh!!"
She could see Fumi swinging and stabbing the knife around like an amateur.
"It seems like Rogue has his own plate to handle"
She returned her gaze back to the ghouls and started stabbing rather than swinging.
*Well I'll just have to endure until he figures it out... While conserving my mana along the way*
Natashia trusted Rogue despite their stormy bond as she knows that if it was Rogue he would find a way to let them survive this situation.
*His not one of us 'heroes' for no reason*
With those line of thought Natashia started stabbing the ghouls heads with great precision.
"Stay away!"
*Kid calm the F_ck Down!!*(Rogue)
Rogue was having trouble controlling Fumi as he himself couldn't calm down thanks to being able to share emotions with Fumi.
*Sh-t F_ck! Motherf__king piece of —*
Rogue started cursing as he was getting stressed by the situation so far Fumi has been able to hold out and protect her sister but she was needlessly using up stamina with her broken stance and movement at this rate she wouldn't last long and there was still the fact that the Ech was still alive.
"Graa!"
A jumper attacked Fumi and she wasn't able to respond as quick .
"Kyaa!"
*F_ck!*(Rogue)
**Tshhk**
A sound of flesh being teared through resounded in Fumi's ears and a very strong force of pain started assaulting her arm and realising why she was feeling pain Fumi screamed horrified.
"Aaaaaahhh—Fuck! That hurts!"
Suddenly Fumi's tone changed and Rogue took over.
[Regeneration (small) has activated]
[Poison Resistance (small) has activated]
[Warning Poison Resistance (small) has Detected unknown poison(?) unable to completely resist due to low skill level please seek medical attention!]
While the mechanical announcement popped into his head rogue quickly stabbed the Jumper that bit the arms and manhandled it towards other ghouls.
He quickly moved to pick up Shizuka while the ghouls were still a few steps away.
[Herculean Strength has Activated]
Thanks to the skill Rogue was able to carry Shizuka without much effort.
[Flash Step Activated]
With a backstep coupled with the skill flash Step Rogue was able to retreat and get closer to Natashia.
But as soon as he reached his intended area he suddenly stumbled.
[Warning! Physical exertion has sped up the spread of poison(?) Please seek medical attention]
"Fuck of all times!"
**Tsk** **sizzle**
suddenly a sound of being sliced and burned came from behind.
"Are you fine?"
It was Natashia she was able to tear through the encirclement of ghouls around her as soon as she noticed that Rogue came over.
Rogue quickly gave her a glance and he noticed her paleness.
"How much can you cast?"
Rogue asked. He knew that Natashia had entered Mana depression it's when Mana is too low that the body had to use actual energy to resupply it.
"No more than three"
"Shit!"
"Reeee!!!"
"Double Shit!!"
The Ech have recovered and now it was facing them teeth's grinding with rage.
