"But what's the trick to this puzzle." It still wasn't something Xilo had figured out yet so all he could was keep trying however now was the time to help Xelfia out and brute force it a little. "Lets see if this works or not." Gripping his dagger tightly he rushed towards the statues back in full force. Getting behind it he slashed into the statues back seemingly unnoticed only to have one of its swords block his attack while it was fighting Xelfia at the same time.
"..."
Feeling the brunt of the impact run through him Xilo was slightly disappointed with the outcome. "Why did my attack feel weaker than before..." Though maybe Xilo was just overthinking it because his attack got blocked and lost some of the power. Breaking out of the lock of their weapons he ducked down and pounded his fist into its back forcing it to slightly stagger. Xelfia seeing Xilo show up ignored the fire she saw in the distance for now well also attacking.
Squeezing her way in, she sidestepped a blade before hitting right into the Statue's stomach. "nothing." Seeing both of their attacks do almost nothing Xelfia felt some frustration and worry start to build in her but right now she needed to stay concentrated while she was building up her energy. Unfortunately from the looks of it she would probably need to make the toughest vines she could possibly create in order to restrain the thing. "Anything less and it'll just smash them to pieces." So being fast about it was not an option.
"Xilo can you buy me some time?"
"I can try, have an idea?"
"Something like that."
Saying that she backed off a bit near the center of the room where they had ended up but made sure to be careful about crossing into any sections unknowingly well Xilo kept fighting. "Well he's doing that it'll give me some time to prepare." She wanted to help Xilo but rather than watch her attacks do almost negligible damage it was better to attempt this instead and see if it worked. "Please work." Slashing across its arm Xilo barely missed his next attack as he watched Xelfia out of the corner of his eye. "I hope whatever you have in mind works." They were running on little time until the flames started to act up again and inflamed another area and if that happened well she was like that everything would be ruined.
"But right now my job is just stalling for time."
Getting back on track he felt his vision go black while slashing again and avoiding another blade but thankfully it was just a minor hindrance unlike before. Smoothly dodging the blade even in the dark he landed another slash on the Statue in the same place as the light turned back on again. "This thing is definitely tough but..." Looking at the Statues arm with the lights back on again Xilo noticed a slightly white mark on its golden body. "It's not impossible." It seemed his attacks weren't doing nothing at least since he could leave a tiny scratch. Now all he had to do was build from there.
Trying another attack he was cut off by its sudden change in pattern as it started to barrel straight toward Xilo without stopping. "This again." Stopping his attack he jumped back and started dodging its attacks as much as possible. "Did it do this randomly or for some other reason?" Backing up he eventually reached the pillar again and was forced to move aside again but this time he wouldn't give up the small window of chance given to him.
Stepping to the side he waited for what he hoped would be the same thing again and he was right. The giant statue swung its blades once more when Xilo reached the pillar and attacked. Yet it was bound to miss as its blade got stuck once again in the pillar a little deeper then before. "Now." Rushing to it before it could even get its blades out again Xilo jumped towards its defenless back and began pounding as many attacks as he could well it was busy removing its blades. "It seems to be stuck in this pattern when this happens, unable to defend itself." He had felt it was a little weird before the first time it had happened but now that it happened again he confirmed it.
"The Statue was set up like this on purpose." Now he had just had to figure out what to do with that information beside blindly attacking it and hoping something happened but thankfully since it wouldn't fight back this time Xilo was able to leave quite a bit of scratches on its back. "Was that its weak spot?" Blinking for a second he looked at its back again to check but unfortunately the lights turned off once more forcing Xilo to jump away.
"Dammit." With the lights turning back on again he watched as the Statue pulled its blades out once more and teleported from his sight again.
"So it also does that as well." Turning around he looked at Xelfia and quickly shouted hoping to get her attention. He didn't care if her concentration got broken in the least. It was a lot more important for to be ready as soon as possible instead.
"Xelfia!."
Shouting Xilo attempted to get her attention but he was just a little bit to late. Watching he saw her open her eyes for a brief second after his shout but the Statue was already in front of her once again swinging. There was simply nothing she could do as the blade slashed into her sending her across the room. Staring blankly at that scene Xilo felt a multitude of emotions before anger started to make its way to the top of all them as he looked at the Statue. Though it was also pointed at himself.
"I should have been faster."
