Destroy It Or Grow?

"Has Zilan done a lot for you?"

"More than you could imagine, He's got a tough skull but he is constantly helping me and the organization out when he can. Just like you currently, when he can he'll pick up neglected jobs and make sure they don't get out of hand like before."

"Before?"

*Knock* *knock*

"I'm back sir."

"Ahh a story for another time. Come in Aeon."

With Aeon back now Xilo dropped it as he looked at the papers in Aeon's hand before he dropped them on the table. "Only this many?" Xilo was shocked to see only four pieces of paper lined up in front of his eyes. He thought for sure there would be more options available. "I saw hundreds before on one of those boards...." Picking each one up he listened to Telan's explanation as he read through them. These were the jobs he was offered that would let him grow more so he had to pick one to start with.

"These four as of right now are your best bet. Whether you can actually complete them and make use of them though is an entirely different story. For now just read through them and pick the one that you think you can do right now."

Dismissing Aeon once more, Telan waited for Xilo to choose one. "Is this really all you sent him here for?" Zilan wasn't a stupid person but no matter how he looked at Xilo he was just normal. Typically people recommended people with talent and to give them a boost. "I suppose this is his first one...or he's seen something I haven't." Saving his judgement for later Xilo finally chose one of the jobs that looked doable to him. It took him a minute to choose but these were things he hadn't really done before. It was all new territory to him.

"Group of thieves attacking supplies, need medicine for sick town, find an item for them and finally another escort job. Hmmm..."

Tapping his finger on his knee he knew he wanted to do all of them but the one that stuck to him the most was the medicine. "A whole town is sick and needs help..how can someone neglect that?" Not caring for the rest of them he picked up that piece of paper and handed the rest of them back. If he was honestly speaking this was one of the worst jobs he could have picked from the pile but it was hard to ignore. "Tearia's grandmother knows medicine, so maybe she can help." Sitting up he was about to walk away and start until Telan interrupted him.

"Wait, are you sure you want to pick that one, it's the most useless and time consuming one of them all."

"Eh, that's fine with me. I'll be back eventually, save the rest for me."

"Are you even sure you can handle this though?"

"I have a friend in mind that knows a lot about this stuff so I should be fine."

"That's not enough!"

Not saying much else to Telan he left the room and went past Aeon to go meet up with his group again. Watching Xilo walk out so suddenly Aeon walked back into the room and looked at Telan. Stuck in thought Telan sighed. "I see, so that's why you did this Zilan." He already knew how Zilan was as a person but seeing Xilo just now reminded him a bit of Zilan. "The real question though is whether you're doing this to destroy that mentality or to help it grow." In this entire building only himself and Aeon knew the specifics of Zilan's past and if Xilo was any similar then he was slightly worried.

"Aeon, watch over Xilo for me alright. I don't know what Zilan's plan is yet but I'll let it play out for now."

"Sir."

"By the way when did that job come in, I don't remember hearing about that before. That shouldn't be a neglected job."

"Just now when I was going to collect them. I figured it would be a good test so I brought it along. Sorry for acting on my own."

"Ha...I know why you did it but next time talk to me about it as well."

"The heat of the moment is always best, isn't that right sir?"

Seeing Aeon smile and walk away Telan dropped the subject as he paced around the room. If Xilo failed to help the town out then he would need to be prepared to rush in instantly and take care of it. It was his responsibility now and he couldn't leave it alone. "I'm surrounded by idiots." Smiling to himself he got serious as he called someone else to the room. Leaving so suddenly Xilo hoped he didn't do anything wrong as he walked out the door into the center room as all eyes converged on him again. Ignoring it he walked out the door and onto the street.

"No time for messing around, I need to find Tearia."

He had no idea how long he had before things got bad which meant he had to be in a rush. "Astral Keepers can't get sick so easily." Which meant most likely this town was full of just normal people and that meant they were fragile beyond belief. Arriving in the streets he looked around the crowded roads for the three girls but with so many people he had trouble seeing them. Looking around for a minute he tried to spot their familiar faces with no luck.

"Where are they?"

They said they wouldn't take too long but it had been about half an hour and he didn't see them anywhere. Eventually while he was looking around he felt a tap on his shoulder as he spun around by reflex ready to fight. With ice energy spiking through him he stared at three lovely ladies that smiled at him.

"""Xilo!"""

Hearing all three of them shout his name in excitement XIlo felt a little bit overwhelmed as he scanned their bodies. The women he was looking for were standing right in front of them but they looked a lot different then he remembered. All of their clothing had completely changed giving them a different air about them. It was quite a surprise for him to see such a difference just by a change of clothing.

"..."

Xilo was a little speechless.
