Just Once Shouldn't Hurt....Right?

With thoughts endlessly flowing through her head, Tearia tried to get a grip on her scythe as the man who called himself Arzan approached. "I can't." All the energy and vigor she had before had run empty leaving her wide open to any attacks. Scowling she hid her face behind her hair as she waited to be stabbed. She refused to fall and give this man any more satisfaction than she already had. If she was going to die it'd be with her pride intact.

"Do your worst."

Spitting that out she braced herself for pain.

"Seems like you still have some fight in you, too bad it's just a bunch of hot air."

Pushing her scythe out of her hand Arzan made sure no mistakes could happen as he stabbed into her side. Watching her stumble down he grabbed her by the shoulder and kept her standing. Tearia didn't put up any resistance as he tore apart her skin while blood flowed out. "Not even a scream." Slightly frustrated by her reaction he only heard the clattering of metal as it fell to the floor. Making another blade he felt the air in the room go cold as he got ready to cut her skin more. "Cold night." Assuming it was just the breeze blowing in from the window he ignored it as continued.

"What do you think you're doing?"

Feeling an icy chill surround his body like a snake, a voice hissed in his ears with anger that sent shivers throughout his body.

Thanks to him not paying attention though he missed the sounds of approaching footsteps as they turned the door knob and walked inside the room. Hearing that new voice constrict and stop him in his tracks he saw the person who entered. It took him a second to recognize who it was since there information on them was very little but there was no mistaking it. "Fuck, maybe I played around a little to much." Regretting his actions he desperately tried to stab Tearia before they could stop him. If he didn't he knew for a fact that he would have failed his mission and that meant he would be severely punished by her.

"You...."

"Like I'd let you."

Having already passed the lake landmark they were at earlier, Xilo did a double check of Relia to make sure she was still okay. "Not too far now." They had only an hour left of running and then they would finally be back. They managed to save some of their lost time by not taking any breaks but in return they were seriously pushing Relia to her limits. "Don't worry, you'll get a break when we're there." Watching her keep giving it her all, Xilo was very impressed with her display. He usually pictured her as a weak, cute girl that couldn't really defend herself but this was showing him how deceiving looks could really be.

"We're coming, Tearia."

Soon the town was in their sights once more as those old wooden run down walls came into vision. Growing bigger with each step Xilo didn't slow down but sped up more as they eventually made it to the town gates. Finally stopping, the three of them entered the town with Relia's ragged breathing to keep them company. "Maybe I should..." Stopping he approached Relia as he smiled and rubbed her hair. He didn't want it to become a habit but she really deserved it. Leaning down he whispered something in her ear that Xelfia couldn't hear and waited for her reply.

"...Okay."

With her permission he squatted down and showed his back to her. Waiting to feel her tiny feet, he felt her legs step on his hands before wrapping around his stomach while her hands traced around his neck for support. Once she was secured in his arms he stood up and let her rest her head on his shoulders as he began walking again. Carrying her like this once didn't seem like too big of a deal to Xilo but to Relia and even Xelfia it was something quite big. Watching with a burning envy Xelfia had to bite her tongue to stop herself from saying something.

"Lucky girl."

Doing her best to ignore it the three of them walked forward as Xilo looked for the guards that were here before.

"Weird, Where are the guards? It's getting close to night but they shouldn't be sleeping yet right?"

"I don't know anymore than you on that Xilo."

"Let me check around for them, one second."

Trying to remember where they came from last time he checked a little hut nearby but it was completely void of anyone. Beginning to panic he went back to Xelfia and told her what he saw as he entered the building. If the guards were no longer here something was happening. There was no other reason for them to have disappeared and that worried Xilo tremendously. Racing down the hall he scanned each room

looking for Tearia while Xelfia did the same along with Relia. "Please be okay." Thoughts ran through his head as he scanned the building looking for her.

".....Found...her."

Hearing Relia's voice through her heavy breathing that was starting to slow down finally Xilo listened to her directions as she pointed the way for him. Twisting and turning around corners Xilo detected her as well as they got closer. Speeding up his steps more he made Relia was secured on his back as he started to run towards her. Checking each room they passed for anything weird or different they made their way to Tearia.

"For the most part the patients seem to be alright but I'm still worried."

"Yeah I haven't noticed any oddities in them. Let's hope you're just overreacting."

"Yeah, Let's hope."

He really hoped it was like Xelfia said and that he was just overreacting but images of those masked people that attacked him before kept coming back to him.

"I swear..."
