A Counter Offer

With some intrigue Telan waited for Xilo to say something. He had been thinking Xilo would have taken a lot longer to come up with his answer but it seems he was wrong. Playing with his hands a bit, Xilo felt his nerves stand on end. He hadn't told anyone yet, not even the girls next to him. "I should have discussed it with them beforehand." Feeling some slight regret he felt Relia grab onto his hand. Quietly she smiled at him with confidence as he felt his pulse slow down. Feeling more calm, Xilo cleared his throat and answered Telan.

"I want to create a...Clan. I want to make a place where others like me can feel accepted. Regardless of anything else, a place for people to consider a home."

Finishing his sentence he felt a giant weight leave his shoulders as he finally felt a little more free. The silence that filled the room was a bit killer though but he let that sink in for everyone else. He didn't know how any of them would take it but they didn't instantly say no to him. Scratching his chin, Telan tossed the idea around in his head for a bit before he spoke up. There was one thing he wanted to ask before he moved any further in this discussion. He had been discussing it with Aeon before that monster attack and now that Xilo was back it was the perfect time to ask.

"Before I say anything on that topic Xilo, let me ask you something myself. To my Knowledge you longer have a clan to yourself, so I was wondering if you'd like to join us. Of course you can decline but there's a lot of benefits in joining us. Any questions?"

"Wait wait wait, you want us to join the Dracal Hall? We aren't nearly strong enough or good enough for that and I don't know anything about this place yet."

"No, I don't want you to join the Dracal Hall. While I do come from the main Dracal Clan that rules over this world I was sent here for...reasons that I won't go into. Since then I've been creating a faction of my own. While you're not good enough yet I'm investing into the potential of your future if you don't die. If you join me, you can gain a mass amount of resources that you'll ever be able to find on your own. Hell you don't even have to do much for us besides help out here and there and all these girls can join you if you'd like."

"Uh...but...."

Flustered Xilo didn't know how to reply to that, thankfully Xelfia was there for him.

"Don't you think that's awfully Sudden Mr. Telan? What's to say you're trusted or worth joining besides your lousy word, that's not nearly good enough and don't even think about using force on him. I'll tear this building to shreds if I have to. You might think you're tough but at the very least you can't kill me."

Aggression filled every inch of Xeflia's voice as her eyes swapped to a lizard's once more. She was fine with sitting back and letting Xilo make decisions on his own but if someone got too forceful she would always step in. Some might say she was just babying Xilo but she didn't see it that way. Xilo protected her and she protected him when they needed it. They were all a team as simple as that. Even Tearia and Relia were already ready to fight if need be. "This is why I hate humans." Sweet words to try and lead anyone to the wrong path. "Reasons for getting kicked out? Heh, what a joke." This man was oozing with things to hide.

"Xelfia right? Don't worry, I'm not forcing him in the slightest. He is perfectly free to decline if he wants. I'll give him some time to think about it even since I know this is kind of sudden. However I take my word very seriously and I'd appreciate it if you realized that. While you're right I can't kill you, I can still make your life a living hell if I wanted, So don't threaten me when you're all talk."

Feeling the tension in the room rising Aeon sighed knowing this would happen. "Way to hasty sir." Moving forward Aeon summoned a case from a ring he had on him and put it on the table as he took control of this situation. Telan was usually a very good talker and while he never meant any harm he had his flaws. He can get aggressive fast and he's very protective of his honour. He hated to be called wrong or let his integrity get called into question. Which sometimes ended up blinding both sides to the point of the conversation in the first place. He had already lost many potential recruits because of it; however Aeon didn't want to let these four go, so he stepped in himself.

"Listen up children, Quit your fighting before I smack sense into the both of you. Now Xelfia, Telan doesn't mean any harm to your lover or you. He just simply thinks that highly of you all. For the promise he made of resources here's a small sample you can have regardless if you join or not."

"Aeon!?"

"Shut it, you had your chance. This isn't a bribe or a trick, It's just as I said, just think of this as a gift for all the work you did to save that town and even others. This is more than deserved for the four of you. Take your time to decide and cooldown. You can come back to us for another job when you've decided. Don't worry we won't treat you any differently for saying no. "

With a scary calmness Aeon directed the conversation while he tried to calm everyone down. Taking the crate Aeon put on the table Xelfia looked it over for anything as she tried to keep a level head. Xilo had also regained his senses after Xelfia's outburst. Without saying anything Xelfia had found nothing wrong with it as she let Tearia take it while she stood up. Signaling to the four of them, they all stood up as Xilo had thoughts running in his head. Leaving one by one Xilo was the last one to leave as a few words entered his ears.

"I think creating your own clan is a wonderful idea boy."

Pausing to hear Aeon's voice, Xilo didn't know what to say as he left the room. Travelling down the hall they eventually left the building as Xelfia's anger deflated. Her mere presence caused half the crowd to circle around them in fear of pissing her off while they walked back to the inn. None of them said anything until they finally made it to their room. Once there Xelfia slammed the door shut behind heras she stormed off to bed.

"What a damn jerk."
