Even If I Die

Struggling to stay standing Aeon evaded all of Katrin's attacks at the last second. Against her, his phasing out of existence didn't work, she was the one counter to his power that he found over the years. Her manipulation of Astral Energy was strong enough to ignore his ability, unlike most people's. "I'm just dodging..." In his current condition he found it very hard to get an attack in. He wasn't used to fighting without his ability along with his injuries. "I know she's suffering." Her sword passed by his face as he threw his head back slightly. Jumping back he made sure his body was still working.

Gripping his daggers tightly he felt frustrated in his ability. "She got a lot stronger than before." When he first met her in the city she was a lot weaker then she was now. "She was beatable then..." Now that he had seen her current strength he was starting to believe that less and less. Given zero time to mull over it Katrin came swinging just as hard. Every second Aeon stood in front of her she felt more angry, she just couldn't seem to hit him though. Each miss added to her anger as she swung wildly. Every second she fought she got stronger so eventually she would be strong enough to beat him.

She was slowly climbing up to the next level of strength in return for her life. It was something she didn't initially plan on doing but after Keltal's little display she was forced to. Reaching the next step in strength, she adjusted her body as her sword finally managed to hit Aeon. "I was saving this for those bastards in Dracal." It was a little bit of a waste of energy however she could always get more. Aeon also knew her tricks so trying anything fancy on him wouldn't work. Creating a thin cut on his skin she finally felt like she released some of her frustration. Even with Aeon's blood falling to the ground the Queen didn't let up.

Taking this chance she attacked again causing another cut to be added to his body. Seeing her attacks starting to work she kept going. "I don't need saving." A third cut, then a fourth, more and more added up as Katrin stacked more damage on Aeon. Feeling Katrin speed up, Aeon did his best to intercept her attacks. If he could no longer dodge her by speed he would have to take her head on. Blocking her sword with one of his daggers he felt himself stagger for a moment. It felt like a giant boulder had just smacked into him suddenly, once he got used to her strength he managed to stop it. Locking eyes, Aeon felt a bit of sadness along with fear.

"Is she really this far gone....?"

Watching the woman he had loved his entire life fall so far was hard to stomach. Using his free hand he tried to attack her but she was ready for it. Knocking aside his right hand, she made sure he couldn't pull off any sneak attacks as Light energy formed in the air. Turning into small lasers she aimed them at his joints in an attempt to cripple him. The first few that aimed for his legs were avoided in return for hitting his arm. More pain attacked his body as he felt his arm going completely numb. Light travelled around inside of it breaking nerves and crushing his bones. There was nothing he could do to stop it either, forced to give up his arm he attacked with all of his heart behind it.

"No matter how strong you get Katrin, no matter what you do to me. It'll never change my feelings."

"Stop talking please, Your words are filled with nothing but falsity. You were the one who walked away from me that day. Not me."

"That's not fair."

"Fair? It's not about that, it's about the actions you chose."

As Aeon lost feeling in his arm he attacked the Queen as he poured his heart out. Hitting her in the shoulder he felt his dagger dig deep into her Skin. Katrin didn't even flinch or waver as she took his attack. "Is this all I'm worth?" Even while trading his arm he couldn't deal any significant damage to Katrin. "No, I can do more." Pushing aside her sword he caught her off guard as he dove in for another attack. Stabbing her other shoulder Aeon pinned himself to Katrin as he got close. Standing face to face he stared into her beautiful eyes that fluttered with panic for a brief moment. "Even if it costs my life, I'll save you." Energy started to charge up in his body while time slowed down for them.

"I was young Katrin, you had so many responsibilities on your shoulders that I got scared. Yes I admit it, I wasn't the best husband for that....I thought leaving you would be the best choice for our child. You tried to hide it at the time but I knew. I wasn't trying to be selfish and that just ended up hurting you instead. I'm an idiot that never truly understood what you wanted back then. Now though? I think I've got a pretty good idea of what you want."

"You don't know a thing about me."

Gritting her teeth Katrin stopped her wavering voice.

"I know you want to be stopped. Even if a part of you wants to do this your Mother probably helped pull those strings a bit. She always was an ambitious woman even back when your Father was alive. He just managed to keep her in check, I have no idea how he managed that but I won't let our child watch you turn into the world's number one enemy. They deserve to be happy and so do you."

"That's not true, I want those Astral Zones gone myself..."

"I wonder how true those words really are, Katrin. It doesn't really matter though, this time I will make a choice, I'll show you the action you want...even if it kills me. As long as it keeps you both alive and happy."

Power built up into his body more as Aeon accepted his fate. It took a few seconds for Katrin to register Aeon's words in her head properly but once she did she felt her blood go completely cold. Feeling his energy built up she felt her entire bubble pop as her face turned completely white. Panic filled every single one of her movements as she grabbed Aeon's body. Shouting at the top of her lungs it was drowned out by the sounds of battle. "DON'T DO IT!!" Frozen in time she watched Aeon's energy go crazy as a small explosion started. She could feel her heart shattering in tandem with each explosion as she did the only thing she could think to do in this situation.

"Please...don't leave me again..."

Stabbing Aeon straight in the chest she ripped open his stomach.

"I told you...you still don't know what I want…."
