Xilo The Demon

Getting everything off his chest Xilo monitored every person in the room to gauge their reactions. Raran also chimed in from here and there to add some of his own input even in his own daze. Once they were all done, it went quiet. Katrin and Aeon's eyes travelled back and forth between Xilo and Raran. After letting Xilo talk without interrupting there were a few things they wanted to ask as well. "An unstable power that doesn't follow the laws of Astral Power." That was something Katrin had never even heard about nor Aeon. With something like that the possibilities were absolutely endless.

"Hey Xilo....were you born like this as well?"

Raran was a bit curious about that.

"I don't know. My memory from my childhood doesn't exist. My friend Seli, who is another one like us, was born like this. What about you, it'd be good information to confirm."

"Yeah...I killed my mother at birth because of this power...ripped her insides apart, at least that's what my father told me."

"Oh...Didn't mean to bring up bad memories, thank you for the answer though. With you, Seli and her old friend being born like this it's probably safe to say this power isn't inherited or given. Seli said there were more people like me and her out there but I didn't think I'd find them. Most died at a young age from losing control or being killed by the people that surrounded them. Which brings me to my main point of this. Raran you're already reaching the end of the line aren't you, If I had to guess you have one year left if things continue like this."

Seeing another person like him, Raran felt a lot closer to Xilo.

"Yeah, a little less than a year and then my time is up if things stay the same."

"Figured, you're a lot older than most people that Seli mentioned so you've done well to stay alive so long. If you don't mind though...I'd like to help you stay alive longer and not just lose control like before. It could help extend your life."

With a clear mind Raran took those words to heart as he mulled it over. "Gain control of this power." A blade extended from his hand as he stared at it. "You've caused me a lot of problems." The black blade's shimmer moved around as if to entice him to start more carnage. Raran refused to listen to it, with just this much he could keep his mind in contact. In essence he had already figured it out himself how to control this power. "I killed my mother...abandoned by my Father..." Raran was tossed aside by the world ever since he was born. "Do I really want to keep living in this world?" He was getting closer to forty years old now. "I think I've lived a long enough life." Putting the blade back Raran was conflicted.

"I appreciate the offer Xilo but I think I need some time to think about it. To most the answer is obvious..I know that....Maybe this power has screwed with my brain a little too much...haha."

With a broken smile Raran made a poor joke as he went silent.

"Don't worry, I understand. Just let me know if you want my help, I won't force this on you. It's your decision. It'd be really nice to have a friend like you around though, so I hope you'll stick around and let me get to know you better. There's also more like us out there who do want help and I'll do the same for them. Now for the two quiet ones over there just eavesdropping. Katrin, Aeon do you two have any questions for me or even Raran?"

"Only a few questions, you've answered most I've had and while I'm dissatisfied with some of the answers I can still understand. The most I want to know is how long your lifespan is now Xilo?"

"Mine's essentially normal. Seli helped me out early on and I haven't used this power too much. If you think I'll fall over and die tomorrow don't worry. I'm plenty healthy and I'll continue to be."

"Good, then how long do you think until you can master this power. Something that defies common sense is very strong."

"Years if I'm lucky, If it was so simple our kind wouldn't be dying so easily."

"That's fine, I'm sure me and Aeon can help accelerate the process. I've got one last question for you though Xilo and it's an important one."

"I'll do my best to be honest, let's hear it."

The air turned tense as Katrin glared at Xilo.

"....Are you a demon, such strange powers usually come from them and I've noticed a few traces of demonic energy from you. It's hidden quite well by that little Darkness of yours but I've seen enough demons to tell."

Everyone's face twisted in curiosity while Xilo's anxiety spiked through the roof. "She knows." His breathing picked up becoming shorter as he watched everyone's faces distort in an instant. A strange power wasn't anything unheard of but Demon's were hated across the world by most. Feeling his body freak out, Xilo felt someone grab his hand. Giving his hand a light squeeze Xelfia calmly smiled while she tried to assure him. "He has more demons in his head than in his heart." With Xelfia's presence soothing him Tearia also took his hand as she met his eyes. "Demon or not you're Xilo." Bonking her forehead against his, she turned his head to face the room. The faces of disgust he had seen before had disappeared, replaced by everyone's friendly faces. "I see..." Taking a deep breath Xilo faced the truth.

"...I think I am a demon....just not a full one at least. There is human in my blood as well. I'm more of a half demon if anything...."

"Well, thank you for being honest Xilo. I didn't mean to scare you or anything, just something I was curious about. Demons and that stuff doesn't really matter to me or anyone else here I'm sure."

"Yeah…I know."

Pausing for a moment Xilo looked to Raran wondering if it was the same for him.

"Hey Raran..I never got to ask Seli this but are you also part Demon or are you human?"

"As far as I'm aware I'm fully human, sorry."

"..No, no don't be. I guess it's just me then. I wonder why..."
