A War Between Humans and Dragons

Off to the left of the graves Xilo spotted another grave he hadn't noticed before.

"Hey Xelfia, was that there the first time you were here?"

Point at the grave Xilo was curious if she had seen it already.

"No, only the two graves were here when I was with Azurin last time."

"I wonder why a new one is here now."

Taking Xilo's hand Xelfia got a closer look at it as a dangerous thought crossed her mind.

"Whoa."

Being pulled along Xilo caught himself before falling as they approached the grave off in the corner. Xilo was about to ask her why she so suddenly pulled him along with her. "Xelfia?" Feeling his body suddenly stop once more, Xilo looked at the grave in front of him as his words got caught in his throat. "Oh..." Encarved on the grave was a name they were both all too familiar with. "Azurin." Seeing that name stung at their hearts, Xilo had wondered why this place seemed so dead. Now he had his answer, the keeper of it had passed away along with this place. Noticing something sticking out of the dirt in the grave Xelfia bent down and picked it up.

"What's that?"

"I don't know."

It was a stone tablet filled with a bit of faded writing on the front, brushing it off. Xelfia read it out loud.

"For my young grandchild, Xelfia…. So he was my Grandfather all along and now he's gone as well."

Xilo was at a loss as to what to say, so he just chose silence.

"I wonder what this is?"

Peeking over Xilo's shoulder Tearia had sneaked up behind them.

"Oh, that's just something that keeps a voice recorded. Just put some of your energy into it and it'll activate. You might want to do it while you're alone though."

"No it's fine."

Letting a drop of her energy inside the tablet Xelfia heard an old weak voice start to speak.

"If you're listening to this I suppose by now you've met the Spirit Dragon and defeated her. Congrats and thank you for putting her to rest. You probably know the truth by now..that it was your Mother. I'm sorry I didn't tell you when I first saw you, I just thought it might be better if you didn't know. People have feared and hated Dragon's for so long, I didn't want to also put the burden on you as well. Your Mother suffered all that hardship to help you escape this prison. With my end though the prison walls have crumbled. I can no longer be the Warden."

Listening to Azurin's voice Xelfia felt comfortable, he always came across as a soothing person and now she understood a bit more.

"In the past we used to rule this land with our King. Human's were only just growing as a species and a lot of them were weak. They constantly fought each other as well and we let them do as they pleased. They were beneath us, Until one day a human reached heights beyond anyone's imagination. At some point Humans started to become more united, they stopped fighting each other and grew as a group against a small group of demon's called nepl's. Numbers spread and years passed until eventually one managed to and with the Creation of Astral Zone's human's eventually reached the level of a Dragon. One human instantly set his sights higher as he came to challenge us in a rather violent manner. He would consume the flesh of the things he defeated, that started a war between our two kinds. Dragons and humans hunted each other insistently for years on end. Destroying cities, murdering each other endlessly until our King finally decided to step in."

"...."

Hearing Azurin talk about consuming flesh, Xilo listened closely while everyone else stayed quiet.

"That was over thousands of years ago....the day where our King lost his courage. He lost that fight against the human losing an entire wing in the process. That human was just too strong for them and too violent. When I was watching the fight, I understood the king's fear. A one sided slaughter as the potential of human's was revealed. Fear was instilled in all of us thoroughly that day. When he lost his wing I swooped in to save him even if it was cowardly, I couldn't just watch my friend die and be consumed. That human had evolved beyond just being a human...he was transforming into something else entirely. He was becoming a true demon, Even after all these years I still get a chill thinking about that man. The Demonic human that called himself Dusk. He brought in a whole new era of strength all by himself."

"That name dusk again...."

"During that we were hunted like dogs until eventually we hid underground in this prison. We kept everyone out and everyone in....except a very few. You being one of them. So let me ask you this one question my dear girl. What will you do with this knowledge and freedom?.... Who am I kidding, I think that answer is pretty obvious, though if I have one word of advice it'd be to keep an eye out for yourself, Dusk was far from ever defeated, and there are plenty of horrible people out there. I have this weird feeling some nights like a nightmare. That a war is going to break out once more. One I don't think this world can truly handle. I can only hope that it's just my imagination...but as I get closer to my death I feel it stronger then ever. Please...be safe Xelfia, I want you to succeed and be yourself to the end....good bye for good now. I'll see you again one day, waiting with your whole family with open arms."

With that ominous message left at the end the voice cut off as silence filled the cave once again. Xelfia and everyone else tried to digest the information Azurin gave them. "A war the world can't handle?" Confused by what he meant by that Xilo couldn't think of something that they couldn't handle. "Does he mean Dusk or the Nepl's..." Those were the only two things he could think of but besides off words about them from stories long ago he hadn't heard anything about them recently. "Well it is just a feeling." Brushing it off Xilo made checked up on everyone as Xelfia played the message over once again for herself.

"I think we're mostly done here."
