Xilo wasn't just casually talking to her, he was threatening her. The only person she could remember doing that in the past years was her Husband. Everyone else in this Country was too scared of the King to try something like that. When he actually cared about her he had left a shadow, a fear to linger inside of their hearts and kept her safe. That fear had lingered till this very day, however he would always give empty threats. "I can't believe he's threatening me." It was something completely unexpected for her.
"How am I supposed to even prove that to you?"
Shrugging his shoulders, Xilo didn't care for the details.
"That'll be something you have to figure out on your own. Anyways, it's quite late and we really should be getting some sleep. I honestly did come here to take Felli back inside so we'll be going now. If you want to talk with us more than wait for tomorrow. All this serious junk is extra tiring. Good bye Lexia and get some good rest."
Wrapping his hand around Felli's hand Xilo pulled her up as he started to walk away. Before Felli could even get a word out, she could barely see Lexia's figure anymore as they abandoned her all alone. Watching their figures fade away Lexia's hand glided across the grass beneath her. "Prove it to you." Her head had already begun to spin as she tried to come up with ideas. "What would he want?" Treasure, power, fame, women? So many possibilities for her to go through, that it was hard to find a place to begin with. "He's a tough one, I'll give him that." The more she interacted with Xilo the more the mystery surrounding him deepened.
"I still can't tell anything about him."
Ever since her first attempt she was constantly checking on to see if she could spot anything. No matter how many times she tried it never worked. "Time to give up on that." She figured with him talking to her like this that maybe his guard would be down this time. Turns out, that wasn't the case in the slightest. "Well Xilo, two can play at this game." She was ready for anything and she swore she would win his help. "Even if it kills me." The soft grass grazing her palms tickled her skin while the wind cooled her down. "He's right though, I should sleep." Enjoying the view for a few minutes Lexia stood up and wiped herself off.
"Hopefully I will sleep this time."
Going back to her room she laid down and closed her eyes. Xilo dragged Felli to her bedroom door and stared at her. He was really curious as to why she had wandered off at night but he figured she wouldn't answer that question. Awkwardly staring at each other for a few moments Xilo let go of her hand. Feeling a lot more empty all of a sudden Felli stared at the wood beneath her feet as she tried to think about what to say. In the end though she didn't say anything as she gave up and entered her room. She still had a long way to go before she could be brave enough.
"off she goes."
The door shut in his face leaving Xilo all alone in the hallway. Scratching his head he tried to figure out whether he should knock on her door and talk a bit or just leave. "She's tired." That was the excuse he gave himself as he went back to his room. Tearia and Xelfia were there waiting for him. "Hopefully they're asleep." Heading inside his room he noticed Tearia's peaceful breathing as she slept off all that exhaustion. "Good." On the other hand Xelfia was awake and staring right at him the second he entered. "She does not look happy." He was sure he didn't do anything to upset her so he was curious as to why she seemed upset.
"What's the matter Xelfia??"
Sitting on the bed Xilo crawled his way to the middle. Tearia naturally attached herself to him in her sleep while Xilo stared at Xelfia. It took her a moment to say anything and the first thing he heard was a long sigh. "Oh no." That was a sound he had grown quite familiar with. "Maybe I did." Shaking her head next to the idiot beside her, Xelfia felt like giving Xilo an earful. "How could he not talk to her!" It was almost painfully obvious that she wanted to talk. "He probably gave himself an excuse and left." Coupled with Felli's lack of social skills they were making no progress. It was just as bad as when Relia was here with Xilo.
"Are you really going to keep acting like there's nothing between you and Felli?"
Opening his mouth to say something, Xilo felt his words get stuck in his throat.
"Don't think you can lie with me, I'll see right through it.'
Giving up, instantly Xilo didn't say anything for a moment. That was quite a difficult subject to address. Felli's Mother was the first person to bring up Felli having any sort of attachment to him. "That's why it's difficult." She never denied it, no matter how many times it was said but she also didn't openly admit it herself. That left Xilo in a tough place, since he didn't want to push his limits. If he was wrong in the end and it was all just a weird assumption he made it would be very awkward. "Now Xelfia's mad at me though." It was at this moment he really wished he could read minds.
"It's not that simple Xelfia, I don't want to just assume her feelings and...push them onto her, if that makes sense?"
"No, no. It really is that simple. You're just being an idiot like always and overthinking these kinds of things. As much as I love to tease you and see you embarrassed, you should know better than anyone that she likes you. If you keep completely avoiding the subject though, you'll just end up hurting her for no reason besides a little fear? That's not the Xilo I know. You're supposed to not be afraid, isn't that right?"
"..."
"Well?"
"I know..."
