Hidden Secrets

When Felli had showed up Lexia managed to start speaking again and just talk a little bit. Xilo filled in on what he had experienced and got the girls all caught up. Once that was all done Xilo stood up from his seat, as much as he wanted to stick around to help there were a few other things he wanted to do as well. Waving goodbye to everyone Xelfia gave him a questioning look but let him leave. "Lexia will be fine with them." Leaving the dining room Xilo fixed his clothing that was still a little wet as he went looking for Vandor. There were some things he wanted to talk about with him.

After a little bit of searching Xilo found Vandor in his room all by himself.

*knock*

"Vandor, it's me."

"Come in."

Opening up the wooden door, Xilo entered the room and saw Vandor at a wooden desk, sitting on a chair and reading the same notes from before. Taking a seat on the bed himself Vandor put his things down and turned to look at Xilo. It was rare for Xilo to come and see him like this. There was only one other time it had happened, their time knowing each other. "Wonder what's up?" Xilo had Vandor's full attention now as the sound of paper rustling quieted down. Thinking to himself for a moment, Xilo tapped his chin as his scanned the room. "Not much in it." Since we would be here for a while Xilo figured people would decorate the place a bit but that may not have been Vandor's thing.

"Hey Vandor, this question is kind of random, however I was curious about your opinion about it. Let's say you loved a woman and were married to her for over twenty years would you suddenly one day hate her? Not like a gradual change, more like a sudden and quick change. Like overnight your emotions swapped."

It was indeed an odd question especially for Vandor who was single all of his life. Most people didn't take too much of a liking to him or his line of work in the past. "I don't think I'd just suddenly hate them though." If it was someone he loved he would have gotten to know them inside and out. For him to just hate them, it would take something big and even then it was hard to say he'd hate whoever he was with. Scratching his cheek Vandor put as much effort into his guess as he could. Without any actual partner in his life it was hard for a solid answer.

"No, I don't think it's possible for me to just hate someone without a good reason, especially if it was that long we had spent together. That just doesn't make any sense and even if it was a build up over time that caused it. Why be with them in the first place kind of thing. Why do you ask?"

Xilo definitely agreed with what Vandor was thinking, he just wanted another opinion.

"I sort of saw that happen today with Lexia. I know Lexia has talked about it a bit but even then it's weird. It got me thinking what could have caused such a rift to appear between them and Lexia won't tell me a thing beyond small insignificant details. So with nothing to go on and only hearing one side of the story I was just curious about it.``

"Ahh, so that's what happened to her. That explains how miserable she looked when I saw her. Well I'd say that's definitely not normal but like you said, Lexia won't say and you can't just ask her Husband about it. So what do you plan to do?"

Vandor's soft voice that would never match his build entered Xilo's ears as he thought about it. "I can't ask Landal outright." That was something Xilo already knew but maybe there was another way to get some information. "I'll let Xelfia handle Lexia and I'll..." Xilo was starting to plan something stupid, Vandor could already tell from the way Xilo went quiet after saying that. "Xilo...." Shaking his head Vandor was going to say something else to change the conversation a bit only to be stopped. Standing up Xilo stretched his body as his plan solidified.

"You're right, I know you are but I still want to try. Lexia wants all of us to fight for her in this war and she's trying to prove that it's worth it. After today's event though I doubt I'll ever say yes to her however I'm curious. Always have been and I want to know more. This situation is far too strange to just leave it alone."

"Xilo...what are you planning?"

"Landal is probably staying in his little Castle for the next couple days and I just happen to know a way to enter it. I think I'll pay him a little visit of my own and see just what I can find out on my own. While I'm gone I want you to stay here and make sure everything is alright. You're one of the strongest and most level headed so you'll be alright."

Hearing Xilo talking about this Vandor felt the calmness Xilo just praised slip away.

"Oi, are you an idiot? You're going to get caught for sure. What happens then? They kill you? throw you in jail? What do we do when that happens? Remember you're not all alone like you think you are."

"Don't worry, I'm pretty good with Stealth, remember? I won't do anything too risky that'll put me in danger. I just want to gather some information of my own, by myself. I've already made up my mind so there's no point in trying to stop me. I just wanted to tell you ahead of time, I'll be going now."

Leaving the room Xilo left Vandor behind as he made his way back towards the Castle. "Someone's hiding something." He just had to figure out who it was and what. "Let's see how many secrets I can discover." A smirk crossed his face as he went outside the building. Vandor was left in his chair as he watched Xilo disappear out the window without a worry in the world. "This kid." He could feel his hair turning grey with stress with each step. "Is way too stubborn." Suppressing his urge to shout, Vandor sighed as he headed downstairs to tell the others.

"Be safe you idiot."
