Chapter 52: Game of Shadows

When someone burns down your past, there are two things you can do:Cry over the ashes—or build a weapon out of what's left.

Guess which one I chose?

Liam and I were back in motion before the smoke had even cleared. Every safe house we'd lined up? Compromised. Every ally we thought we could trust? Suspect.

Vale wasn't just playing offense now. He was sweeping the board, flipping pieces, forcing us to react.

But here's the thing about predators: they forget that sometimes the prey grows fangs.

We relocated to a bunker-style facility three towns over—deep in the woods, no signals, no tech. Just raw planning and enough weapons to make a small army jealous.

"We go to the source," I said, tossing blueprints onto the table. "We take the fight to his doorstep."

Liam scanned them, nodding. "His private estate. That's where he's holed up."

"And where he's weakest," I added. "No audience. No layers of power. Just him and the lies he built."

We weren't going to sneak in this time.We were going to storm in.

While Liam coordinated logistics—routes, entry points, backup failsafes—I sat at the corner of the table, flipping through Vale's old dossiers.

Names. Dates. Photos.

One file made my stomach turn.It was marked: "VIXEN 02"

There was another.

Her face stared back at me. Young. Smiling. Clueless.

She was still out there.

"We have to get her," I said. "Before he uses her the way he used me."

Liam leaned over, eyes narrowing. "We'll get her. But Vale goes down first. Otherwise, none of us are safe."

I nodded slowly, staring down at the photo.

This wasn't just revenge anymore. It was rescue. Redemption.

I stood up, spine steel. "Tomorrow night. We finish this."

Because if I was created as his weapon...It was time I became his undoing.
