Lee stared at his father wondering why he asked such a strange question.
"Then you shall be"
Said Lee's father with a grin on his face,he pulled Lee closer to himself and rubbed his silky hair.
"Son,your future is more than what you think or expect, never compare yourself to anybody"
Lee nodded his head, his father had always been feeding him with the fact that he was special and different.
Lee sometimes always felt that he was different from the others, probably due to the fact that his mind was playing what it had always heard.
"Your mother would be proud of you if she discovers your plan to become a cultivator"
Said Lee's father with a smile that portrayed deep sadness.
"Mother"
Said Lee with sad emotions dancing in his heart,he knew not his mother, either dead or alive he didn't know.
Whenever he asked about his mother, his father wouldn't reply but just stare into space as though he was reminiscing about something.
So he had learnt to stop asking, this was the first time his father had ever spoke of his mother.
He wanted to ask for more but the look on his father's face didn't portray that he was ready to answer questions.
Both father and son became silent drifting into their own different world of thoughts.
"I promise to tell you about your mother when you visit this realm again" said Lee's father as he suddenly broke the glass of silence.
Lee's face unwittingly shaped into a sincere smile.
"But,on the condition that you become the number one warrior in your ward"
"But fath....." Ethan yelled, but was instantly cut shut by his father.
"That's the only way"
A Ward is a group of warriors or cultivators who are admitted into the same sect or academy at the same period of time.
A ward sometimes can consist of a thousand cultivators.
"It's not a tough thing to do just work hard, and remember how special you are"
Lee swallowed a mouthful of saliva,it would not be something easy to accomplish.
"But i must fulfill it" thought Lee with great resolve.
Silence once again descended on the duo,Lee decided to burn time as he scanned each and every parent who appeared to be far anxious then even the children, they were busying advicing their children, boasting their hopes and easing their anxiety.
But otherwise was his case, his father was talking as if he had seen the future.
He appeared not to be worried of him not passing the test.
He stared at his father who was staring at space as he always does.
It appeared his father was more than he thought he was, or could just be hiding his anxiety acting as though he was all knowing.
"Times up"
Yelled the same cultivator as before.
"This is how the exercise would take place, those who are not participating should move either left or right only the participants should remain in the middle"
Parents reluctantly left the side of their kids,Lee's father didn't show any sign of that,he suddenly kept a scroll on Lee's hands which seemed to just appear from nowhere.
Lee was about to question what the scroll was but his father had mixed with the crowd.
He scanned through the crowd but his father seemed to have just disappeared.
He wanted to check what the scroll was but was stopped by the booming voice of the fifth cultivator.
He kept the scroll in his robe wondering what it was.
"With this done, the participants should all line up on eight different straight lines"
The children began to squeeze among themselves trying hard to gain the lines.
The process was rough and appeared vividly to the cultivators and parent that the children will waste a lot of time before forming the line.
Eight long lines finally came to live after what seemed like forever.
Lee found himself on the third line,he stood at the middle of the line but he could still see through the heads of the kids in front of him as most of them were just ten, most of his age mates could not even rival with him in height not to talk of ten year old kids.
At the time he was ten his father denied him the opportunity to participate.
His father said he was still unwilling to part with him and also because it was not the best time for him to go.
Lee also was not ready to leave the comfort of his father so it was easy to convince him.
There was a time Lee asked his father a question which disturbed his mind but his father's reply amazed him.
"Father,I was wondering how I will make up for the years i have lacked behind my peers who have began to cultivate"
Lee's father replied with a laugh and rubbed Lee's hair as he does when he was happy.
"Son,don't you believe your father words i said you are special, and anybody's who's special produces faster than others"
"So don't bother yourself about that"
That word closed the case,Lee till today didn't understand.
"The next instruction is simple,as you can see there are eight cultivators here,so,meaning that one line for each cultivator"
"Let the test begin!!!"
The line began to move slowly towards the cultivators,it didn't take long before the first person on each line reached their various cultivators.
Lee could not see their faces well but he could see eight outstretched shaky hands placed on top of the orb filled with fishes.
It didn't take long before the result of the lads was announced by the eight cultivators who all had sonorous voices,Lee assumed it was a part of cultivation.
"Failed!!!"
"Failed!!!"
"Failed!!"
"Failed!!"
"Failed!!"
"Failed!!"
"Failed!!"
Seven outburst of tears filled the air, their dreams had just been shattered by the result, they felt hopeless.
It was a very devastating experience they ran towards their parents with their hands covering their faces.
"Pass!!"
The failure of the first seven was bending and twisting their faiths and hearts.
But this word brought light to the hearts of the participants even Lee.
Lee could see the rate at which the test was hard, only one person out of eight participants, very heartbreaking.
The one who is to become a cultivator is a fair young girl who grinned like Cheshire cat.
The parents of the girl were screaming in joy, that gladness of such result could be the perhaps the happiest moment of their lives.
