The Peerage

"Honestly speaking, I do." I tell her upfront, not bothering to dance around the question.

"Good. Then this will be a bit easier." She said as she and her peerage stood up from the couch. "How would you like to be reborn as a devil servant under me?" She says, extending her wings and the others do the same. "If you accept you will join my peerage and become a devil servant of Rias Gremory, heiress of the house of Gremory." I feign shock when I see their wings, standing up from the couch and freezing, awestruck.

"You....y-you all are devils?" I ask, stepping closer to Rias and grabbing one of her wings. I gently pulled on them and ran my hands over them. I may have known they were devils but that didn't take away the shock of seeing them in reality. Their wings were truly beautiful in their own way. Rias let out a slight moan when I grabbed her wings and I quickly pulled away. I guess they were more sensitive than I thought. I tuned my head and caught Kiba glaring at me for a split second before he replaces it with his usual smile, not his authentic one. I guess he was upset I grabbed Rias' wings instead of his. I sigh in my heart, knowing I would have to fix that later.

"Sorry, I wasn't expecting you to grab my wings like that. Few people's first reaction to seeing a devil is to grab their wings." She says as they retract their wings.

"No, no. I'm sorry. That was rude of me and I didn't realize how sensitive they are." I said which only causes Kiba to get more upset. He doesn't even bother to smile anymore, just taking on an apathetic face. Akeno sees this and hits his hand subtly, causing his smile to return. I honestly didn't know what was happening. Maybe he thought I was flirting or something but even so, it shouldn't have been that big of a deal, right?

"Well, anyway. Yes, we are devils and because we're devils, we have supernatural abilities. I control the element of destruction, Akeno can manipulate lightning, Koneko has super strength, and Kiba can make swords appear out of thin air." She says, explaining everyone's abilities in laymen's terms.

"You can create swords, Kiba?" I ask with a shocked expression.

"Yes." Was all he said, not bothering to say anything else. You could practically feel the ice coming from his voice.

"Why do you ask?" Rias asked with some curiosity.

"Well, it's just. When I woke up in the forest I also had a similar ability." I said slowly.

"What do you mean you had a similar ability?" Rias asked, this time the entire peerages curiosity was piqued. I then proceeded to show them my Sacred Gear. I extended my hand outward and a standard longsword came out of a portal in front of my palm causing everyone's jaw to drop.

"I can make stronger and better swords but it takes more time. The more times I create a certain sword or weapon, the faster it will appear."

"And how exactly did you find yourself able to use this ability?" Akeno asked, on guard.

"Well I just felt something inside me, something that was calling for me to use it. I felt a strange energy flowing through my veins and all throughout my body. After a while, this feeling became insatiable. Eventually I gave into the feeling and converged all of this energy into my palm and a basic knife came out of a portal the same as you saw. Then I passed out and I had a dream. In that dream a voice explained the basics of this ability to me before disappearing. It told me I'd be able to add certain abilities to the weapons I create but first, I'd have to learn runes and enchanting." I explain.

"That's amazing." Rias muttered. "You see, Damien. What you have is what's called a Sacred Gear, items crafted by the biblical god for humanity to use to create miracles. That voice was probably a users manual of sorts that God left for whoever uses it." Rias explains. "However, now that you've used your Sacred Gear, supernatural beings will hunt you down, either to kill you or to use you. Join us and you can train with us and grow."

"How do I know you don't want to use me?" I ask with a little smirk. "Isn't that what you devils do? Deceive and trick people for your benefit?" I ask, looking over to Kiba before looking back at Rias.

"You'll soon find out that those stereotypes aren't grounded in fact. There are bad devils just as there are bad humans as well as good devils." Rias says as Kiba looks down, understanding why I looked at him when making that comment.

"You said I would become your devil servant. That means that I would serve under you and you could force me to do whatever you want."

"Not necessarily. There are devils that rebel all the time but I would never force you to do anything that you didn't want to do unless it was for your own protection. The Gremory household treats its servants as family, no exception."

"Okay, if everything you say is true then it would be my honor to be a part of your peerage." I told her with a smile and a bow.

"Perfect. Now in order for you to reincarnate as a devil, you first need to die but don't worry, you'll be swiftly brought back to life and it'll only be for a second." I sight deeply before nodding my head. "Now, lie down and take off your shirt."

"Wow, Rias. You can at least buy me dinner first, right?" I ask, trying to make light of the situation since, to be totally honest, I was not too fond of dying again. This comment only made Kiba more annoyed than he already was which was a nice bonus since I was slightly pissed at him for trying to get close to me under false pretenses.

Rias blushed hard but waved off the comment by saying, "It's part of the ritual." I laughed slightly at everyone's reaction before taking off shirt, revealing my six pack and chest muscles, causing everyone to blush. I ignored their staring and laid down. Rias took out a knight piece and said her incantation. I closed my eyes and waited for my impending death as well as my inevitable reincarnation. A few seconds later, I died and a few seconds after that, I came back to life. I stood up, wobbling around and having a massive migraine. I was about to fall back down when Kiba caught me before I could fall.
