My Heart and Seoul (10): Sweet Friends

That night was the last night I spent in Seohyun's apartment. The new place had all the furniture already as part of it, and since Seohyun didn't own this apartments furniture we didn't need to bring anything other than our normal belongings.

That night I spent tossing and turning not able to go to bed. I stared up at the ceiling in contemplation. Sometimes I wonder what my actual parents are doing. I love Aunt Ina for everything she's done for me but every once in a while I wish I knew what had happened in my previous years. My memories start at 14 with waking up in a hospital room and that's all I know. I wonder who the unknown guy is as well. Or girl. It's great he's helping me out but god knows what their motives might be. I sigh quietly turning once more to try and get at least two hours of sleep before we were supposed to wake up, I still had work with Lishi because we didn't call in. But since the boys have practice all day we can just finish some paperwork quickly and get off early.

Lishi's POV

"No I don't want to.."

My eyes shot open immediately. What the hell. I turned to see Rae moving in her sleep, obviously sleep talking. What kind of dreams is she having. Both out of curiosity and concerned-ness I moved closer to listen to her.

"Nooo I'm tired. I don't wanna practice again." She mumbled moving around for a little bit but then finally settling down. This time I waited for a few minutes but the only thing I heard from her were light snores.

Sometimes Rae worried me. Not in the sense that she's mentally unstable but she looks lost sometimes. Like she's floating around. I keep thinking about her past. I met her when we were 15, she had just started school at my secondary school and we didn't click at first. But we slowly formed a good friendship, one I wouldn't trade for anything. She was fiery at times, if anyone tried to annoy me she would jump up in my defence verbally destroying them. Occasionally it got her in trouble, but a few detentions didn't hold her back. Now we're best friends and she's a loveable crackhead. I mean crackhead in the most affectionate use of the word. I looked back at my friend who was fast asleep and unaware of my thoughts. The world may be against her sometimes but she has me.

I woke up startled at the alarm going off. Rae's mattress was cold so she was already up and running. I checked the time to see it was already 8:00am. Oh my god I haven't even gotten anything sorted out yet for work. Getting up I made my way to the bathroom to try to fix my face up. I had some tired skin and slight eye bags but nothing too drastic so I just washed my face and did my make up quickly. As soon as I got out I was greeted with a smell that made my stomach rumble. Rae and I had stopped for iced coffee on the way back home but we were too freaked out to eat anything, so we didn't have dinner. Seohyun had a work emergency so she left as Rae was with that creep Seunghyun. I swear to god if I see him he better pray he can dodge the pointy end of my stilettos. Nobody creeps on my best friend like that. Nobody. Looking into the kitchen Rae had made some omelettes. No wonder it smelled good.

"Hey dig right in! I've been up for a while so I had time to run to the store and get some coffee too. They were awesome and added a cookie for free." Rae said giving me a plate, then turning to reach for the two coffee cups behind her. Huh she doesn't drink coffee usually.

"Thanks for the food, what's with the coffee." I said cutting up my omelette, but when I cut into it rice came out. Ohhhh she made omurice, it explains the ketchup next to me too but she must've been up for a while to make this.

"Oh I didn't sleep much last night, maybe an hour or two." What she said made my eyes bug out. An hour or two? That's not healthy!

"What the hell are you even human. You need to rest properly!" I scolded her smacking her arm. She made a face like she was hurt but laughed afterwards.

"I had a weird dream. It was like I was stuck in a loop having to balance books on my head. I woke up and decided not to go back to bed." She said with a distant look in her eyes. Isn't balancing books for like straight posture and poise? Huh well Rae always had excellent posture and manners. Wait is that why she was saying 'I don't wanna practice again' in her sleep. I wonder if it's her past memories...

We stood up after finishing breakfast- Rae left a plate for Seohyun like usual- and since Rae was already dressed I quickly put my clothes on and headed to the office.

"So I see you're getting closer with Minho." Ah out of all the things we could've talked about she brings him up.

My love life was essentially a mess and a desert at the same time. A sandstorm if you want to picture it. I have very loving parents- strict but loving. However they've always wanted me to settle down with a good job and get married. I do get where they're coming from and I don't blame them one bit. I'd love to see myself get married to a wonderful guy it's just no guy has even interested me in the slightest. When my family heard I'd be moving to Seoul- without them and without a husband for support- they almost had heart attacks but came round eventually when I told them Rae would be coming with me and that we'd be living together. With Rae asking about Minho it brings back every time I thought about my own future. And I like where I am now, I have good friends, wonderful parents and even though my siblings irritated me so much growing up I love them to bits. I even have a good job now in a place I never thought I'd be. And now Minho shows up in my life. He's sweet, kind, has a face that would make me pray not to sin as well like damn. But who knows what the future holds. Besides we've only known each other for a little bit I might only see him as a friend or he might only see me as a friend. Either way he's nice to talk to.

"He's nice." I said taking a sip of my coffee. She nudges me with a grin.

"Just nice? He's cute and friendly. Should we be expecting anything." Her joking tone and wiggling eyebrows made me laugh as we walked into the building.

"He's just a friend! What should we talk about you and Jaehyun?" I said lowering my voice as I said his name. She went quiet for a second before poking my arm with a pout as we entered the elevator to go upstairs.

"Hey its interrogate Lishi time not interrogate Rae." She protested.

"You avoided the question." I grinned knowing that I got her tongue tied.

"Fine we'll stop talking about love lives." The elevator dinged at our floor and we got out. Her boys were getting ready to go in for their daily practice outside of their normal practice room and as they spotted us an evil grin made its way onto my face.

"What's that Rae? You find one of them really attractive? Well I've got to go now." I laughed and rushed to my office feeling Rae's glare practically stabbing my head.

Rae's POV

"Lishi!" I glared at her as she laughed and rushed to her office. I knew for certain the boys heard what she said and for a second I didn't want to turn to see their faces. I could hear some of them snickering. Sighing I turned around to be greeted by some amused faces.

"What was that conversation?" Lamon said with raised eyebrows and a smirk. I groaned in slight irritation.

"So you find one of us attractive? It's me isn't it?" Yamato said coming over and putting an arm around my shoulder.

"Lishi was just messing around. You're all very attractive men though." I said putting Yamato's arm back. He pouted and brought his face close to mine.

"Come on.... who is it?" He whispered as if we were about to exchange secrets.

"I mean what I say. You all have different charming points." I said making myself clear. It's true. Lamon's confidence, Yamato's goofiness, Daehyun's culinary skills, Seungho's aegyo, Minjae's soft attitude and Jaehyun's ability to make people smile. They're all good guys, and they each have something different in them.

"Really? So we're all good looking in your eyes?" Seungho suddenly said making me turn to him. His eyes held a little bit of hopeful-ness which made me frown internally but I just messed up his hair.

"Of course. You're very charming, the princely maknae!" I continued by poking his cheek making him laugh with a childlike smile. I noticed Yamato smiling softly, which was slightly out of place for Yamato but not unwelcome. We all got in and as the boys started stretching for their practice Jaehyun casually walked over to me. For a minute we simply stood next to each other taking in the sight of the room.

"Thanks for saying some kind things to Seungho." He said breaking the silence. I nodded in understanding, of course I would he's a sweet boy.

"It's no problem. Yamato and him seem really close." I commented looking at the pair.

They were goofing off as Yamato was giving Seungho a piggyback ride and they were zooming across the room like kids.

"Ah that's because Yamato had a younger brother around his age. Key word being had. He's very protective over Seungho because he doesn't want to almost lose him again." I nodded again taking in his words. Wait again? Jaehyun must've noticed the look on my face because he continued.

"Seungho had a problem with his self confidence two years ago before he became a trainee. Yamato was the one who found him and saw his vocalist talent. In a way he gave Seungho a new outlook on life." He finished with a warm smile, one where you could practically see the love and care he has for his group members. It was infectious and soon enough I started smiling as well.

"You care for your members it's sweet." I patted his shoulder. I started to head out to my office when an idea popped into my head. I turned back around.

"Hey Jaehyun I'm actually moving to a new place today, how about you and some of the others come over for a housewarming party?" I suggested, because it would be nice to have a little celebration. His eyes lit up at my words.

"Definitely. I'll invite some my hyungs. Is 9:30 okay?" He said looking excited. No more drinking for me at least, just food and company.

"That's great. And hey invite Minho and maybe another guy from Sync." I said and he looked confused for a second before it clicked.

"You're playing matchmaker aren't you. Very devious." He wiggles his fingers making me laugh.

"What can I say? I like meddling." I grinned an finally turned to leave again.

Minho seems like a really decent guy, and if Lishi likes him and he likes her having them talk would be good.

I went into my office and got started sorting through a lot of paperwork that I left. A lot was going through general stuff and some it was going through requests from shows and such to have them on for an episode. I did schedule for them to appear on Men on a Mission two weeks from now, and the boys have a photoshoot next week Monday. Apart from two stage shows for their comeback and the Idol Master episode they don't have much this week so they finally get a decent break. It's good because they've been through quite a lot of prep work. Once I had finished sending my last email I packed up and met Lishi on our way down the elevator.

"Oh yeah I invited Jaehyun and some of the others tonight for a little housewarming get together." I mentioned as we got in.

"You did what now? I planned on Netflix and sleep." She protested.

"Well now it's food, Netflix and company." I replied. Although she was right I had only slept about two hours myself and was running on coffee so I should be getting some sleep. But it's fine I've done this a lot for university.

"Fine." She said reluctantly but I could see she was looking forward to it too. It's our first official apartment in Seoul that we're renting out. It's exciting and new, so a little get together isn't bad.

Let's hope things will work out for the future!
