A True Friend!

'This guy...' Arthur shooked his head and noticed that Jose was on his phone again.

"Let's go! It seems like you didn't need a break!" Arthur frowned and stood. Although he was irritated by Jose, he still offered a hand to help him up.

"Ok!" Jose simply nodded whilst deeply concentrated on his phone.

'If he hits another pole, I leave him!' Arthur frowned as they started to walk.

The surroundings of the city were safe and lively. There stalls and shops were covered with colorful decorations and lights. This was a sign that the Christmas holiday was approaching.

Despite the secure surrounding, Jose can't help but to always be on guard the same way he was on the four years he survived at the zombie apocalypse. He maximized the use of his five senses whilst scanning information through his phone.

'First, Let me check the date.'

December 14, 2031.

3:42 PM.

'December 14... 2031?! Eleven days before the zombie apocalypse!'

He frowned as he immediately checked his contact list, next.

'Ma... Pa... Clarissa...'

His heart started beating fast. The mailing numbers of his parents and his younger sister had a green indicator next to their names, indicating that the number was available and can be contacted.

'Sigh. I am still not sure of what is happening. Regardless... If everything will happen in the same way, it means that I have eleven days to plan and prepare before the apocalypse starts.'

At that instant, Arthur noticed an electrical post and unconsciously glanced at Jose. To his surprise, Jose was still on his phone, walking straight without looking ahead. And in just a second, Jose will hit an electrical post again.

"Sh@t!" Arthur's face went pale. He won't be able to warn Jose on time. To his surprise, Jose moved to the side and quickly returned back after passing the electrical post. His movement was fast, that one would mistake him for a ninja in a movie.

"What is it?" Jose raised his head towards Arthur.

"No~nothing!" Arthur sighed as he shifted his focus back to his path.

"Hmm... Ok. By the way, Arthur where are we going to the mall? You still haven't told me."

"You'll know when we get there!" Arthur was astounded, but he was able to calm himself and answer back with a smile.

If everything was according to the past, Jose knew that the reason why Arthur invited him to a mall was that, Arthur was going to buy a Christmas present for Sophia Reyes, the muse of their class and Arthur's crush.

Arthur was someone who had never been into a relationship, Hence, he needed the advice of a trustworthy friend, and it was Jose. In the past, Jose suggested buying a simple bracelet. It was not expensive and too eye-catching, but it is something that a woman would wear on certain occasions. Trusting Jose's advice, Arthur followed it and bought a bracelet. He gave it to Sophia on their Christmas Party. This made a small spark between Arthur and Sophia.

However, The apocalypse happened during the Christmas Holiday and Sophia was infected. This was the last story Arthur told Jose when they met in a Military Base after the apocalypse. And it was their last conversation.

The next day, a soldier came into Jose's tent with a sack of rice and some can goods. The soldier told that Arthur has passed away. And his last will was to give his remaining parts of the food to Jose since all of his family was already dead.

Arthur joined the Volunteer personnel that was responsible for helping the army to protect the Military base. He was told that Arthur was a first-aid assistant and rushed to an injured soldier. Unknowingly, the soldier was bitten by another zombie. Hence, when the soldier became a zombie, Arthur was the first one to be bitten. He became a zombie and was immediately eliminated by the other soldiers.

'Brother Arthur... You don't know what you did for me in the past. Those food were a big help to me and my sister, during the early days of the apocalypse. You treated me like your family. And it will be the same for you, even in this life. And... I won't let you die miserably like before!'

Jose starred at Arthur. The man with him was someone you can call a true friend. Someone who will treat you like you were their brother or their sister. Someone who would help you without a second thought in times of need.

'Since we are going to the mall, I might as well buy something that would be useful on the apocalypse.'

He took his wallet and checked how much money he had with him. There was a blue bill and several violet-colored bills in it.

"Around two thousand Pesos? The most important was food and water... but it is not ideal to buy it here since there is a closer supermarket in our house. The next important thing was the solar phone. It was the latest model of phones that cost around a hundred thousand. Obviously, I can't buy it for now."

"It seems like I can only go back in the next days. I have no concrete plans yet and have no enough bu~dget."

They were inside the mall already, and he was closely following Arthur. His eyes shone when his eyes got a glimpse of a lottery stall. His heart started to pound fast, again. Without a second thought, he tapped Arthur's shoulder.

"Brother Arthur, Is it alright if I go to the lottery stall first?"

"Lottery stall? You're also attracted to their Christmas promotion?" Arthur mocked.

"Hahaha. Well, I won't lie the Christmas promotion was really attractive. Just for Fifty Pesos, you'll have a chance to win Three Hundred Million Pesos? Won't your Christmas be happier if you won the prize money?"

"Go and bet, I'll wait for you here." Arthur shook his head as Jose ran towards the Lottery stall.

"Today is December 14. I remember that a man bet in the lottery, selecting the numbers 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35. Unfortunately, He only got six out of the seven numbers required to win the grand prize of three hundred million Pesos. And the only number that he wasn't able to get right was 25, into which the winning number 'coincidentally' was 26. It was so famous that almost everyone knew about it."

"Hehe, If I did travel back in time. I should win this grand prize. It would be a good capital for the preparation for the apocalypse." He grinned. He chose the numbers and paid the fee. He was already in legal age, hence he could bet without the need of a guardian.

Money has no value after the apocalypse but he can convert those money into resources, before the start of the apocalypse. If he had surplus money, He could even buy a tank or a personal helicopter.

'Let's not jump to conclusions yet. Tonight, we will know if the events in the past would be the same.'

"Well... not really! Cause I will win the grand prize! Hahaha!" He started laughing mischievously inside.
