When Natsu was looking around the village, he found Mira and Lucy talking to the Village chief, Moka, about the island's curse. He curiously went over towards them.
Moka was in his demon form. He was short and bald, with long silver sideburns running from the length of his face down to his hips. He had purple skin, had dark violet spots all over his body, and had blue claws for feet and hands. He wore a necklace made of what appeared to be large animal teeth centered by a skull, and a dark blue cape that draped down from his shoulders to the back of his knees featuring a crescent moon symbol. He also wore a white tribal-like kilt that featured a red-ringed circle and two green stripes encircling near the trimmings of the kilt, which were also cut decoratively. He had gold rings on both of his legs and his left arm.
"Please tell us when you will destroy the moon!? The curse can only be lifted after the moon is destroyed!" Moka begged Mira and Lucy. They frowned when they heard this. It was almost impossible for them to destroy the moon after all.
"But… We can't destroy the moon. There must be some other way to lift the curse." Mira replied with a wry smile. She didn't believe that destroying the moon would lift the curse. Besides, it's impossible to destroy it.
"We're not strong enough to destroy the moon. I guess nobody in the world could destroy it," Lucy said while nodding her head, completely agreeing with Mira. Then, all of them started bickering with each other.
Since they were busy arguing, they didn't notice Natsu's presence.
"Hey, Mira, Lucy! What are you guys talking about?" He asked loudly, gaining the attention of the girls. Both of them immediately stopped bickering with the village chief and looked at Natsu with tired eyes.
"Oh, hi, Natsu! We're talking about the curse. I thought the curse would be lifted after Deliora's defeat, but I guess it didn't go as planned." Mira replied with a fatigued smile.
"Yeah, and the village chief is shouting at us to destroy the moon. Nobody in this world can destroy the moon," Lucy replied while pointing at the village chief. Moka just ignored her words and kept asking them to destroy the moon.
"Then let me do it. It's easy to destroy the moon," Natsu replied with a smirk, making Mira and Lucy utterly dumbfounded. They weren't sure what he meant by destroying the moon. Was it even possible for a human to destroy something so big?
"Hai? Don't be ridiculous, Natsu! That's a fricking moon you're talking about. Besides, how can you destroy it when you can't even leave the atmosphere. Even if you somehow did manage to, how would you breathe in space? And even if you did find a way to breathe, how can you destroy it? The Moon is fricking gigantic." Lucy said, entering her nerd mode. She wore glasses and started lecturing them about how absurd his plan was.
"Thanks for the info Lucy, but let me show you how I'll do it. Sometimes you need to think outside the box to solve a problem," he said with a sigh.
"What do you mean?!" Lucy almost shoutingly asked. Natsu walked a few feet away from them and summoned his masochist maid, i.e. his celestial spirit.
'Open Gate of Maiden, Virgo!' Natsu internally chanted, activating the spell. He didn't want to shout something this embarrassing out loud.
A magic circle appeared in front of him, and a petite pink-haired girl came out of it. This was Virgo - Natsu's maid.
"Virgo at your service, master!" She said, moving into a bow. Mira looked at Virgo curiously. She was wondering if her lover managed to get his claws into this maid or not. Lucy looked at Virgo with a stiff smile. She was still disappointed that Virgo chose Natsu as her master instead of herself.
"Please make me an earthen ball, Virgo. I will show you girls what a real kick is like," Natsu spoke excitedly, making Mira and Lucy curious. Moka looked at them with an uninterested gaze while talking with nearby villagers.
"As you wish, my prince," Virgo said, using her magic to manipulate the earth. She made a football-sized ball made of earth and made it float in front of Natsu.
"What are you going to do with that ball, Natsu? Don't tell me you want to play soccer now," Lucy asked with a confused expression. Mira also tilted her head cutely while looking at this. They didn't understand why Natsu would want a ball at such a moment.
"Just watch and learn. Fire Dragon Slayer's Exploding Kick!" Natsu shouted, engulfing his right foot in crimson flames. He kicked the earthen ball powerfully while transferring his flames into the ball.
Swoosh!
The flames propelled the ball high into the sky. It flew up at high-speed toward the moon.
*Smash!*
Suddenly the ball made contact with some magical coating on the sky, going right through it, breaking it in the process.
*Shatter!* *Shatter!* *Shatter!*
Suddenly, the sky cracked and started shattering into many pieces like broken glass. Everyone was shocked watching this.
"What the hell!? Did he really destroy the moon?" Lucy shouted with an expression of disbelief. She didn't understand what was going on anymore.
"He indeed destroyed something, but I don't think it's the moon. Now I understand what Natsu meant," Mira exclaimed with a smile. She finally understood what Natsu meant when he said to think outside the box. The moon was never the issue. It was the magical coating in the sky that was the cause of the curse.
"What do you mean, Mira?" Lucy curiously asked. She still didn't understand.
"Just look at the sky once more and you'll understand," Mira replied with a smile, making Lucy nod her head. She looked at the sky once again, this time carefully putting every detail to memory. She noticed that the moon wasn't purple anymore. It looked just like a typical moon. She also saw that some pieces were falling from the sky. They looked just like pieces of glass.
"Woah! The moon's back to its natural color. Don't tell me there was something up in the sky that made the moon look so creepy." Lucy shouted out in wonder, making Mira chuckle.
"That's right, Lucy. There must be a thin layer of moon drip coating above this island due to the moon drip ritual being performed in the temple for so long. That's why the moon looked so creepy." Natsu answered, allowing Lucy to understand everything.
