Chapter 64: Start of a War

(A/N: For those who are complaining about the chapters, please give me a break. I write this fanfic in my leisure time. Life's already been busy with university stuff. At least I'm able to write a single chapter every day. I'll upload more frequently when I have time. Anyway, thanks for reading as always ^^ Today's my birthday so I've uploaded two chapters as a special bonus.)

Natsu entered the basement of the guild and tossed the unconscious Gajeel towards Makarov, who had a grave look on his face. He'd probably heard what happened to Levy and her group. He couldn't believe that Jose would go so far to provoke fairy tail.

"Here you go, gramps! Now you should know that Phantom Lord is hellbent on provoking us. You can imagine what Levy and her group's condition would be if I wasn't there on time." Natsu remarked while looking at Makarov seriously. He wouldn't accept a no from Makarov after this incident. He would destroy 'Phantom Lord' himself if gramps denied a confrontation.

Makarov looked at the unconscious figure of Gajeel and sighed. He picked him up and carried him over to the infirmary. Then, he returned and looked at Natsu with a determined expression. He'd already made up his mind after he heard what Gajeel planned to do with his children.

"You're right, my boy. Jose has gone too far this time. If it was only a building I wouldn't care and would outright ignore him, but no parent can remain silent when someone tries to harm their children. This means war!" Makarov replied with bulging veins on his forehead. He looked just like an enraged beast ready to tear his enemy apart.

Natsu smiled upon hearing this. He was waiting for this moment. Now, he could finally go wild all he wants.

"So what's the plan, gramps? Do you want me to wreck their guild all by myself?" Natsu asked with an evil smile. Makarov sighed while looking at him, he didn't want to see such expressions adorning the faces of his children.

"You won't go all alone, my boy. Let's wait until everyone's gathered. You can fight anyone else, but leave Jose for me. I will show him what happens to those that harm my children." Makarov replied before clenching his fist.

"'Kay! I'll just take a nap until everyone's here. Don't forget to wake me up before the fight." Natsu replied, laying down on a nearby bed. He wanted to get as much rest as he could before the fight.

"Sigh… Sure. I'll tell Erza and Mira to wake you up when it's time. I need to make some preparations as well. I'll see you later, my boy!" Makarov replied before heading outside. He needed to make some preparations for the upcoming war.

'I can't wait for the fight.' Natsu thought, slowly drifting into sleep.

After some hours, Natsu felt someone shaking his body. He slowly opened his eyes to find Erza looking at him angrily.

"Wake up already, Natsu! How long do you plan to sleep? It's time to go already!" Erza said, shaking him even more.

Natsu woke up groggily and yawned. He looked at her with a smile. Erza had an irritated face looking at him, but he wasn't too bothered by her expression.

"Good morning, Erza! Why are you in such a hurry?" Natsu said before getting up in a languid and casual manner. He stretched his body a little and still found Erza angrily staring at him.

"Don't give me that! Everyone's already left the guild. Let's go support them in the war." Erza half-shouted before quickly dragging Natsu away.

"Jeez… Don't drag me. You know I can teleport there instantly, right?" Natsu asked, making Erza stop dead in her tracks and turn towards him, a mortified expression adorning her face.

"Don't tell me you forgot about it?" Natsu asked with a teasing smile making her further embarrassed. She coughed and looked away in order to avoid making further eye contact.

"Cough, cough, of course, I didn't forget. I was going to ask you to teleport us there after we leave the guild. Now stop wasting time and quickly teleport us to the 'Phantom Lord' guild. The others might have already started the fight." Erza replied while trying to change the subject.

"Sure sure, as you wish M'lady," he said, shrugging his shoulders before teleporting them both to the 'Phantom Lord' guild. He'd already been to the 'Phantom Lord' guild before as preparation. So, he could easily teleport there now.

In the 'Phantom Lord' guildhall, there was a boisterous party. The guild members were celebrating the successful attack on the 'Fairy Tail' guild, completely unaware of their impending doom.

"Hey, did you hear that Gajeel wrecked the base of those fairy tail mages?" A nameless goon asked his other nameless goon friend. They were both 'Phantom Lord members'.

"Haha, of course, I've heard the good news. I heard that the whole fairy tail guild building was destroyed, impaled with multiple giant iron rods. It's a pity that there were no casualties." The nameless goon friend replied while laughing spiritedly. The nearby guild members also listened to their conversation in interest.

"Oye, didn't you hear that Gajeel left the guild yesterday to hunt some fairies? I can only imagine their misery after Gajeel's done with them." A random guild member asked the nameless goon, joining in on their conversation.

"Really? Damn… I actually feel pity for them for incurring the wrath of Gajeel. He's really scary after all. I can't stop myself from sweating whenever he's around." The nameless goon replied, breaking out with cold sweat all over his body. He could never forget the beatdown he got for pissing Gajeel off once.

"But they deserved it! Who told them to get in the way of our guild? This should show the world that our guild is the true number one guild in Fiore. Those wretched fairies are nothing but show-offs. They got their asses burned bad haha...." The nameless goon's friend answered while laughing rowdily.

"I bet they're trembling with their 'Tails' between their legs hahaha…" Another guild member mockingly laughed, with others joining in laughing while mocking fairy tail.

While they were busy with unrestrained laughter, the entrance to the guild building was suddenly blasted open. The guild members were instantly alerted and got into their fighting position,

"Fairy Tail is here! Get ready to get your ass kicked, Phantom Lords!" The 'Fairy Tail' mages shouted out loud while entering the guild. All of them had serious expressions on their face. It looked like they were heading off to war.
