Zhao Mingzhe found himself sitting on a plane beside a fluffy dog.
They took his private plane but he chose to be a passenger this time. Of course, in order to thoroughly please his wife, he dared not leave the dog among the cargo.
However, whenever he was left alone with this ball of fur, it would glare at him.
Han Yixin went into the restroom and left the dog, which was sitting on her lap, on her seat beside her husband.
Zhao Mingzhe felt like he was a stepdad who was being hated at first sight.
It was actually a bit peculiar as the dog never barked at him, but he could feel the hostility just by looking at it.
He cleared his throat and tried to call out in his stoic voice, "Oxford."
The puppy turned his head to look at him blankly, then turned its back on him as it continued to lie down on the seat.
Zhao Mingzhe narrowed his eyes. This dog seemed not to care about him. It at least recognized his existence, but he is not sure if it really hates him.
How ungrateful! It was him who made it possible for this creature to travel halfway across the globe, sitting comfortably on his wife's lap instead of its travel cage.
Will it bite him if he touches it?
Zhao Mingzhe contemplated as he stared at its fur.
His wife liked to cuddle with the dog.
He wanted a feel of the fur too, but the dog would glare at him whenever Han Yixin was cuddling it. It was as if it does not want to share its owner and is very protective of her.
Zhao Mingzhe closed his eyes since he did not want to get bitten on his own plane.
"Hey Baby, did you miss me?" Suddenly, Han Yixin's voice rang.
Zhao Mingzhe swiftly opened his eyes with his mouth ready to reply.
Then his gaping mouth twitched when she picked up the dog, sat on her seat and pet the dog on her lap. She was talking to the dog.
Well, he was going to comment about her sudden change to being sweet. Zhao Mingzhe almost bit his tongue to stop what he was about to say. He almost embarrassed himself.
Though irritated, he shut his eyes again and tried to fall asleep.
Before he could, he heard her talking to the furball.
"Baby, why do you look so down? Did the big bad man bully you?" her voice was even a bit childish.
She had a mischievous smile as his eyelids flutter. She knew he was itching to defend himself, but his pride would not let him be childish.
She played with the puppy, making it stand on her lap with only its hind legs, as she supported its two paws with her hands. She was moving the paws up and down and its fluffy ears are following the movements.
She continued her monologue with the dog.
"Oxford, you have to be good to him though...he let you ride this plane home with me...okay?"
'Right, right.' Zhao Mingzhe seconded in his thoughts.
As if understanding what she was saying, the dog looked at Zhao Mingzhe, then turned to look back at her.
"Yep." she nodded at the dog. "You wanna try his lap?" Han Yixin offered her husband as if he was a new couch.
The dog could not object as she lifted it and landed its paws onto her husband.
Zhao Mingzhe peeled his eyelids and turned to face her. "Han Yixin, what are you doing?!"
"Oh, you don't like dogs?" she was ready to carry it back onto her lap.
Zhao Mingzhe looked at the pitiful face of the puppy. Where did the glare go?
Since he was in truth eager to hold the dog, he took it from her hands.
"No...I...you just woke me up." he reasoned out.
Han Yixin giggled. She knew he was still awake.
He narrowed his eyes at her.
She gathered herself and stopped laughing. "Sorry." she said, but she could not help but smile.
Zhao Mingzhe turned back to the puppy he was holding. The diaper with its tail sticking out looked adorable, but he felt that it was uncomfortable for the little creature.
Well, they cannot bring it litter box on the plane so they had to put diapers on it.
He shifted his hold on the dog and held its chest with one hand, while the other pet the dog on its head.
Oxford was initially stiff and vigilant when he was handed over, but the massage on his head was relaxing. This male human knows his stuff with dog ears.
Soon, the dog peacefully slept on his lap.
Then he realized that its owner had also dozed off.
The seats in his plane are convertible into a lazyboy-loveseat hybrid.
He removed the armrest between their seats and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
She instinctively leaned on his chest as she slept.
Well, he looked like he has a little family, but he never expected that the baby his wife will be calling is a malamute.
The dog's body is warm and since everyone around him is sleeping, Zhao Mingzhe fell asleep too.
Han Yixin opened her eyes after about an hour of rest. She looked up at the man peacefully sleeping.
How lucky can she be to have someone like him.
She could just imagine if he hates dogs.
To her surprise, her little furball had climbed up and settled to sleep on her husband's belly.
'Isn't it hard? How come this ball of fur looks comfortable?' she thought.
She could remember his toned abdominal muscles. She blushed with the thought and scolded herself.
She brushed her hand over the dog's head to wake it up.
When Oxford looked up at her, she gestured for it to come back into her arms.
She was shocked to see him go back to sleep, even turning its head away from her. It was as if he found a new owner.
Han Yixin clenched her teeth. "Why you little..."
Before she woke up her husband, she kept her emotions in. She crossed her arms over her chest and softly harrumphed.
"Wait till we get home." she murmured.
