Chapter 17

----------------------------------

(Kelsea's POV)

The wind blowing past my face felt like the caress of mother nature as the scent of wood and soil grace my sense of smell while my hair wave through air, flying on my back as I listened to my favorite list of pop songs. I was currently on my bike enjoying the beautiful weather until I got past the gate.

BOOM!

There was a loud sound that came out of the sky, the warm sun covered by gray clouds. Like something ominous is about to happen.

'Here we go again...why does it have to be almost everyday of raining whenever I go to school?' I thought as I felt annoyed while looking at the sky.

I shook my head and decided that it wasn't worth my time to think about it. It was a good thing that I didn't catch the rain until I was near the church.

There was a huge crowd in front of the church, filled with students, professors and nuns alike. I hear snipers of words and sentences. Mostly about a person as I came nearer to the group of people and situated myself with Prima as soon as I saw her. The others weren't with her.

'Thats unusual. They're usually always together.' It was odd that they weren't together but it's not like friends are always together.

"Hey, what's with the commotion?" I asked Prima. She didn't answer so I nudged her. Her eyes looked like it lost its focus somewhat.

"Oh...sorry, I didn't notice you were there..." She looked a little bit worried but otherwise fine.

"It's okay. So...what happened?" I forgived her and asked her again.

She was about to answer when we heard a shout near the door of the church as a guy who looked like our age wearing a white shirt, black pants, black shoes with studs in both of his ears was being held at both sides by federal authorities. I don't know fashion much, but I know luxury when I see one. He seemed like a model with his tall height and handsome facial features but he didn't seem like that of a good person considering the blood smeared on his face, hands and clothes.

"Do you think he did it?"

"Who else?"

"It's not like it's the first time."

"Maybe...it could be them.."

"Shhh..." Someone said quietly. The girl beside her quickly covering her mouth as if she hadn't expected herself to say it.

"Are you an idiot?!" The girl with the brunette curly hair shouted in a quiet way. "You're getting us in trouble."

The girl with her looked pale with her lips quivering and her eyes filled with fear.

'Them?' I thought. Maybe they're talking about other groups.

"Kelsea!" I felt someone shake me and I looked at Prima. How long was she calling for me.

"I've been getting you're attention. Class is about to start." Prima told me. It was only then that I noticed that we were the only ones together.

"Sorry."

She nodded at me and said "I'll see you later okay?" We parted and went to our own classes.

As I walked in the corridor in the direction of my first class of the day. I can't help but think about what happened earlier.

'Who was that guy?' He seemed to be a student here that's for sure. But the more I thought of it the more I felt suspicious.

'That's right...Prima didn't answer my question.' It was only then that I realized Prima hadn't answered my question earlier, too caught up with what had happened.

But I didn't think much more of it as I heard the bell ring. With that sound, I hurriedly went to my class.

-------------------------------

It was a great thing that our professor was late. Maybe taking care of the problem earlier and having a meeting, that's the most probable answer. Teddy's not here too. What can I say? He's member of the student council, of course he'll be busy.

The students were all gossiping at each other. Probably about what happened earlier. There was a girl beside me fiddling with her shiny phone.

"Hey, what happened?" I asked the girl with the purple bow in a ponytail beside me.

"You don't know?" She looked at me with a frown in her face. She shook her head and answered me. "Beverly's dead. They found her body last night at the church."

"What?" I exclaimed in disbelief. But I just talked to her like a week ago. I thought back when she talked to me back then.

'Was she right?...Is this because of that?' If I remember correctly she was stricken with fear when she warned and kept looking at my back. I thought nothing of it...but now? I thought back to the guy that was being escorted out of the church earlier.

'Did he kill her?'

"Is it the guy being escorted by the FBI earlier? Did he kill her?" I asked her with caution in my voice.

"Shhh..." She shushed me with her finger placed on her lips. She looked around, looking grateful that no one was looking at us.

"That guy you're talking about was Jake. Jake was Beverly's ex, he's known to be very obsessive with his past girlfriends."

"But that's no excuse for het to die." I frowned at that.

"I know. We all know. He was actually a kind guy once you know him. He used to be. Until his first girlfriend changed school and left him heartbroken and angry. That's what was circulating around the school but I thought it was bullshit." She told me with her eyes gleaming. She looked to be enjoying her time telling other people's misery.

"While his second girlfriend killed herself, they found her in her bathroom with her wrist cut open. Of course, Jake's parents are rich, so they were able to keep everyone quiet, especially the nuns here." She told me seriously while looking at her fingers fiddling with her phone. "And now... Beverly was found dead."

"That's awful." I said.

"It is." She kept looking between me and her fingers.

"There's something you're not telling me." I told her. I've read about human psychology. Interesting fact, they are actually very helpful in some situations.

She sighed heavily.

"When there's a new kid, things happen." She revealed to me.

"Things like Beverly?"

"Not just that." She fidgeted in her chair.

"Well, what kind of things?" I asked her, dying in curiosity as I sat up straighter in attention.

"People change...they become colder and angry."

"Maybe it's because of what happened. When something bad happens, they're emotions are more sensitive..." I told her until she cuts in.

"You're wrong. This is different, people change suddenly and then they forget what they did in an instant. A classmate of mine, for the first time got himself in detention. De.Ten.Tion. He loves studying and follows authority like its some kind of ten commandments. It's impossible for him to get in trouble." She told me hastily as she tried to keep her bearings and stop herself from screaming at me. She heaved and sighed.

"Sorry...This things that have been happening is getting in my nerves." She apologized to me.

"It's okay. I understand you're worried."

"I'm more than worried." She scoffed at that. "I'm scared of them." This time she does looked more than worried.

"Them?" Is she talking about...No, that's impossible.

"Your group." She told me as if I was an idiot.

"And?" I asked her to continue. What's with my group? They're great and sweet.

"Haven't you connected the dots yet? At least every year, there's a new student and every year they always disappear."

"What's that got to do with them?" I felt something ominous. Something bad.

"The new kids are always together with them. And every year they always disappear." She told me.

"Maybe it's something else."

"Go and deny it but if I were you, I wouldn't go near them again."

"You don't know them." I told her, I don't want to deny her but I don't want to lose my friends too. They're my first group and I know I'll regret betraying them just because of rumors.

"I don't. However, I know enough." She said but continued when saw my triumphant look. "Everytime something big happens they're always there."

I was about to say something when I heard the door open, gracing us our professor looking concerned.
