Why Can't They Accept Death?

A shade of grey, everything was gray, the sky was soft with small clouds in the sky being highlighted due to their darker tones. The mountainous land which was composed of black sand painted the ground dull. Even though the creatures that call this place home were of different shapes, sizes, and forms. They were all but a shade a gray. Ash fell from the sky and the black sun radiated its rays upon the surface of the planet. The atmosphere was dark, turbulent, and dreadful. Intense black flames burned throughout parts of the planet as volcanos erupted and black magma shot out. Some parts had strange creatures running around in a jungle environment. While other parts a calm ocean, where creatures lurked beneath and the waves crashed against the shore. But still, everything was just a shade of gray.

What ruled this land was neither a person nor god, but the complex concept and embodiment of Death.

The one all things fear, but unknown to all, it exists, not as a nightmare, but something inevitable and forgotten to the ones above.

"Why are you here?" A calm but authoritarian voice rang out throughout the planet.

"Where?...Where are you?... Who are you?" A panicked voice responded, frightened, it looked around in search of the unknown.

"Answer the fucking question." The voice rang out again, but this time in front of the frightened blue soul, a grayish-black gas-like substance about 10 meters tall formed with 2 pearly white eyes staring dangerously at the soul.

Looking up, the blue soul forgot how to breathe just from meeting those white pearly eyes, scared was an understatement for what this blue soul was feeling at the moment.

Amassing enough courage, the soul responded, "I don't know, I swear I don't know."

The Gaseous figure changed its approach as it could tell the soul was not lying, "Who are you? A god?"

With some difficulty, the soul responded, "I am not a God, I am...I don't even know what I am. I don't want to know"

The Gaseous figure could tell that the soul was not lying about not being a god, but it still couldn't be trusted.

"Tell me, if you aren't a god, what are you doing here? How did you get here?"

"I don't know, please, believe me, I truly don't know how I came here. I just woke up here." The soul was truly frightened because it truly didn't know anything, which put it in an even worse place, useless.

Thinking about this dilemma, Death finally answered the frantic worries of the soul.

"Okay, I believe you, I will give you a chance at reincarnation if you could answer me this one question. Why can't people accept Death?"

...

Thinking long and hard, the soul finally raised its head to meet Death's eyes once again.

"I personally believe, It's because they value their lives, they want to live, the last thing one wants to do is die. People cherish things and don't want to lose or be separated from it. So they can't accept death, if they accept death, it's like they have given up on their reason to live, the things they cherish." The Soul exhaled deeply and waited for judgment.

Death was in another dilemma, not understanding the concept of cherishing.

"Can I reincarnate or no?" The Soul curiously asked after waiting a couple of minutes of silence.

Death internally shook the thoughts away, there is a bigger problem right before it.

"I have another question, where can I get that thing that I cherish?"

"Well, you can't just go on Amazon and buy it, it's different for everyone, you gonna have to find it." The soul responded as if talking to a friend, forgetting the 10-meter gaseous behemoth it was standing before.

"What's Amazon?"

The Soul knew it had made a mistake, a fuck up if you would like to call it.

"Well, it comes from the world I am from, it is a big blue and green planet with all types of life prospering. Well, that's what I would like to say, but wars ruined it all, the first and second were already devastating but the third one broke the last straw, everyone died, all life ended in a single day."

The soul got gloomy and sad as it kept on muttering about its planet called Earth.

"Well, since you have answered my questions, I will give you a chance to live again." Death reluctantly said.

The Soul can be seen elated on the outcome, fidgeting around excited.

"Thank You"
