Side Story: The (Un)fortunate God

Heaven (225)

It's a magical place that everyone knows and dreams of living in. Even me, I once dreamed of living here too, I worked hard to get here, and once I did, I felt overwhelmed by this once magical land of my dreams. I spent most of my first hundred years exploring Heaven to my hearts fill while trying out new things.

The food is amazing here, being cooked by divine chefs, bless those hands. I will never get tired of eating from my favorite restaurant a little outside the bustling cities, a little classical Japanese restaurant serving everything from A5 Divine Wagyu to simple ramen dishes. Everything is amazing there, especially the sake, oh how I love my sake~.

However, as every adventure has a beginning it also must have an ending. I lost the sense of adventure after exploring the whole realm to its every inch. It was truly a fascinating journey and I have engraved every bit of it in my very soul.

Afterward, I built a humble house with my own two hands, it was awesome to see my hard work pay off like this. But, then I became bored, this happened only a couple of hundred years after I came here, I was already old but hadn't gotten married or had any intimate contact with the ladies if you know what I mean.

Getting bored was inevitable, I knew I would get bored at some point, but I never would have thought it would be so soon. One moment I was living a dream, exploring and going on adventures, while the next I was lazing on my couch thinking about when should I do the laundry that had been piling up for weeks.

Thankfully, there were still a couple of things I hadn't been able to do as of yet. One of those things was getting a job, it meant more responsibilities and hard work but it would pay off in the end. If working doesn't kill me, then my boredom will.

(A Couple Of Weeks After Meeting Death)

Well, I didn't die yet which is nice, but I got a bigger problem on my hands now.

The Dimension of Lost Souls completely collapsed on itself.

The Wheel Of Fortune has disappeared.

And the scariest of them all... Death is now set loose to wreak havoc.

WTF have I done!

Personally, I am surprised that not only have I witnessed not one, nor two, but all three of those events take place right before eyes and came out alive is a miracle on its own.

Well granted I haven't been able to sleep at night, since even in my dreams I see those white eyes staring at me, looking straight at my soul. It terrifies me to my core. But luckily, since I am a God, I don't need sleep.

Who's lucky? I'm Lucky~

Hah, take that you little bitch.

.

.

.

But I'm getting off-topic, by now it has already been a couple of weeks and everybody is talking about the Dimension Of Lost Souls collapsing. No one how or why it collapse but just that it collapsed suddenly.

But the bigger issue is the disappearance of The Wheel Of Fortune. Not many know of this, as the Goddess Of Fortune, Fortuna, had immediately announced that she will be using it for the coming while.

Which is a complete lie, but I'm the only one who knows that so... I'm lucky? I guess.

What am I talking about, this is so unlucky. Ignorance is bliss I tell you. Ignorance is truly bliss.

Because now that I know this, it means I'm involved in this Heaven shaking scandle.

Ugghhh!!

I take back what I said, I'm not lucky. Not even close.

But still, I cannot even start to fathom what in Heaven's name is going on. It'll take a bit more time for it to actually settle in my heart.

"WH- WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!"

The Old Man was chilling on the couch while watching a sponge make burgers underwater when suddenly something started to come out of his body. Freaking out, he fell off his couch and felt a sharp pain in his rear.

Ahh, ahh shit!

He tried to get up but his legs had fallen asleep.

It took a couple of minutes and weird positioning to help himself back on the couch, completely forgetting the thing that came out what seemed to be his body.

He was massaging his ass when he caught the sight of a black card floating in mid-air, spinning like a turntable.

He stared at it for a while trying to see what it had on it but the card seemed blank.

What the hell. It's not like I'll die if I touch it.

The Old Man swiped the card onto his hand and as soon as he tried to inspect it, it started to glow. This scared the shit out of Old Man but it stopped glowing after a few seconds and nothing happened.

Just when I got comfortable going outside without my guard up, this has to happen. The Old Man got shaken to his core once again. It seems that his luck just gets worse from here on out since the card was directly left inside him by Death itself.

Picking up the card he had dropped, he took another look at it and a message in white started to appear letter by letter on the black canvas.

~~~~~~~~~~
Memento Mori
~~~~~~~~~~

What the hell does that mean?!

Memento Mori? Isn't that Latin? I have to do my research on this later.

Turning the card around his eyes were about to jump out of its sockets.

Those eyes, those white pearly eyes that bring fear to even the strongest gods.

The Eyes Of Death.

~~~~
Bravely walking out of my humble house, I make my way to meet my higher-ups. I am scared, but, I have to at least tell them what happened and who took it. I have this scary gut feeling that something much worse will happen soon or later.
Making my way there I started coming up with different situations in my head as to how things may go. Coming up with backup plans, and going over how I will explain things to them so that I get out of there alive.
I pay absolutely no attention to the people greeting me and head straight to my destination. Without me even knowing, I am standing in front of the Golden Gates to the Council of Gods. Here is where the Chosen Gods of Heaven operate. These chosen Gods operate in lower Heaven's such as the one I built my humble estate. They came into power not too long ago and fairly trustworthy from what I've heard.
Standing before the Golden Gates, they look more domineering and bigger than ever before. I don't know if it's my mind playing tricks on me or they have always been this big and domineering. Now I'm kind of unsure whether I want to go in there or not, maybe its better to not go and watch how they deal with it on their own. But on the other hand, the information that I have might possibly be crucial to solving this disaster. No! It's definitely crucial, I can't just watch people possibly suffer due to my weak will.
"Sir, there is an Old Man outside, he says he has confidential information." Whispered a beautiful black-haired woman in a secretary outfit with black frame glasses.
The one who she was whispering this too was a handsome young man looking to be in his early twenties, drinking tea with a friend of his.
He replied, "Invite him into the Hall and take proper measures" he whispered back in a serious tone. The woman then left to complete the order.
The man turned his attention back to his friend, they were having a good time catching up, but it seems like work calls.
"Micheal I'm sorry, I have to go attend a sudden important meeting, how about next week same time we go out to the bar, it will be my treat." Smiling he got up to guide his friend out.
"Sure, but next time I am expecting a bar with that secretary of yours, not some tea in this tense environment. Hahaha." Micheal said as he put his tea down and got up.
"Hahaha, okay, okay, we'll go drinking next week on you." The man laughed and they both left while making some small talk along the way.
'I too hope this passes sooner than later'
(Old Man)
"Please come in" The black-haired woman said to me. She seems pretty nice and hospitable, well this will be an experience since I don't come here too often.
She locked the Golden Doors behind me, strange but that just means I won't be able to get out of here by normal means.
Well, now that I'm here guess its time to drop some bombs, I hope the people working will be understanding of the suffering I went through.
Walking for a couple of minutes, I check out the place, to put in one word, it's like walking through the Royal Palace. Yeah, that's how its best described. Everything is placed purposefully, it's clean, the people working are very independent and look very confident, well, this is not a bad place to work at, if I say so myself.
Well, here is my doom, right behind these doors.
