Chapter 17

Emery's P.O.V.

I awoke to the feeling of fingers softly stroking my cheek. Slowly, I opened my eyes to find Trinetta looking at me. Her beautiful green eyes shining in the light streaming in through my window.

"Morning!" she whispered. Her fingers still gliding softly over my skin. I smiled pulling my hand up to catch hers and placing a soft kiss on it.

"Good morning my angel," I said, not realizing my words. Her face broke into a beautiful, breathtaking smile.

"Did you just call me your angel?" she asked, a blush creeping up on her face.

I felt my cheeks get hot, my lips curving into an embarrassed smile. Wow, I was actually blushing.

Trinetta slips a hand under my chin, bringing my face up to look at her. She was still smiling, her eyes were so mesmerizing. I got lost in them if I looked for too long. Slowly, she leaned closer to me and placed her lips on mine.

In a rush, I felt wave after wave of passion and electricity flow into me. My breath caught as my heart beat faster. I felt as if I were going to explode in euphoria. Trinetta pulled back her eyes wide with excitement.

"What was that?" she asked, in a stunned voice.

I slowly caught my breath, trying to slow my heart. Then the realization of what happened came into my thoughts.

"It was the bond. Remember I told you, whatever I feel, you will feel. And whatever you feel, I will feel." I said.

She nodded. "I remember." then her eyes scrunched together in thought. "So wait, you're telling me. That if I have to use the bathroom, you will have to too?"

I laughed. She looked at me in question.

"No, its only very strong feelings of emotion. Like now, we both felt very happy, so then we both feel it stronger because of the other feeling the same. That's how the bond works." I said.

"Oh, ok. Because I really do have to use the bathroom." she laughed, sitting up and stretching.

Sitting up as well, I smiled as I watched her stretch out her stiff muscles. Her arms up over her head while she yawned. Smiling, I leaned over, pulling her gently against me by her waist.

She giggled as I placed soft kisses on the part of her shoulder that stuck out from my oversized black t-shirt. I smiled into her skin, smelling her sweet scent of flowers and some perfume that I couldn't name.

"Emery," she said in a soft almost breathless voice. "Emery, I really need to get up."

I clutched onto her tighter, but not enough to hurt her. "I don't want you to."

She laughed, placing her hands on mine. "I have to use the bathroom."

I sighed, kissing her on her shoulder once more before letting her go. She smiled at me before jumping up and running over to my bathroom.

I laughed, feeling so light. I hadn't felt like this since I was a kid. My body felt light as air, my thoughts weren't clouded by the memory of the past. My thoughts were filled with love for my mate.

I heard the door to my bathroom open, Trinetta smiled happily to me as she came to sit on her knees beside me. She gave me a seductive look, before pushing me down on my pillows. Slowly, she straddled my waist, a leg on each side of my body.

Smiling, she leaned down, kissing me on the lips, ecstasy crashing into. My lips moved with hers frantically. My hands going to her waist, hers in my hair. She flattened her body against mine, trying to get closer to me.

I smirked in the kiss. Trinetta pulled away slightly, looking at me in mock anger for stopping.

"And what are you smiling at, missy?" she asked.

I laughed. "Someone seems to have learned very fast from last night."

She smiled, blushing. Thought of the night before seemed to be flooding her mind as she stared at me. I pulled her down to me, kissing her softly on the lips, then her cheeks and her forehead before laying her head on my chest. She smiled up at me, looking completely happy.

"You think since I am your mate now, we should tell your mom?" she asked softly. I grimaced, I wasn't sure how my mother would take it.

"I guess I should, seeing as there is no way to keep it hidden," I said. Looking back at her beautiful face. "I can't be away from you."

She smiled, pulling herself up to kiss me gently. She pulled back, resting her forehead to mine. "I love you, Emery," she whispered.

I smiled, my heart soaring in the air. "I love you too Trinetta."

She smiled.

I heard some footsteps downstairs. I listened carefully, finding that it was Vince's in the kitchen. Probably in the fridge searching for food.

I laughed. "My brother, the bottomless pit!"

Trinetta looked at me questionably. She must not have heard it, her ears weren't as sensitive as mine.

"Vince is in the kitchen," I said. She nodded.

"Maybe we should get dressed and go downstairs before you mom checks on us," she said.

I sighed, nodding. Not really wanting to get up with her here. I could see it in her eyes too, she didn't move from her spot on me. I smiled, leaning up to kiss her, my hand on her cheek.

"What are we going to tell my parents?" she asked softly, a worried look came over her face, then fright at whatever she was thinking. I felt a sudden feeling of fear settle in my stomach.

"Hey, calm down. Don't worry about them, we will think of something, for now, we won't tell them." I said, trying to comfort her. Slowly I felt the fear ebb away. She relaxed against me, nodding.

"Ok, that works I guess," she said.

Unwillingly, we got up and dressed. Trinetta's clothes had been ruined, so she borrowed some clothes that were a little too small for my liking, most bought by my mother trying to persuade me to dress her way for once.

I reached into the box of unwanted clothes, finding a pair of ripped blue jeans, a black tank top, and a white tank top with a picture of Marilyn Monroe on it. One outfit I had worn for my mother just once. I handed to it to Trinetta.

"This looks nothing like your style," she said smirking, taking the outfit and putting it on. Blushing lightly at my obvious staring. I turned, even though she was my mate, this was all so new to me. I never had much of an intimate relationship with anyone before.

I felt Trinetta wrap her arms around my waist, putting her head on my shoulder. She kissed my neck gently before pulling back. "Now what are you going to wear?"

I looked at her, "You can pick for me. I picked for you."

She smiled, then walked over to my closet. She looked thoughtfully through my clothes, pushing some away with a frown, then smiled.

She reached in and pulled out a dark red pair of skinny jeans, and a black and red Slipknot t-shirt.

"How about this?" she asked. I raised my eyebrow, looking over the outfit with a somewhat nervous expression.

She sighed. "I was just thinking that you should show off your curves more. I love the way you look, but I can't see you under those baggy clothes." she pouted.

I looked at her puppy dog eyes and couldn't bear to deny her what she wanted. So I sighed and took the clothes from her and began to dress. She smirked lightly as I pulled my shirt over my head, then my long sweatpants. I blushed.

"I don't think anyone has ever made me blush before," I said. She smiled, coming over and pulling my hair from the inside of my shirt, then pecking me lightly on the cheek.

We finished getting dressed, then sneaked downstairs before my mother could. I decided I would make breakfast for her, so she would maybe be softened up slightly. Though I knew it really wouldn't help much, my mother would freak when she found out that I had bonded with a human.

Vince must have gone back up to his room, as no one was in the kitchen. I started making pancakes, bacon, sausage, and eggs for my mother. Trinetta helped set the table with five place settings and a pitcher of orange juice and coffee was already brewing. My mother had to have coffee with everything.

"Emery, I smell something amazing." I heard Vince yell coming downstairs. He smirked when he saw Trinetta was here. He walked over and ruffled my hair.

"You know, mom isn't going to be too happy there is a human here. She may want something other than eggs and bacon for breakfast." he joked to me quietly.

I growled up at him. He laughed and moved over to snatch a piece of bacon from one of the plates I had set them on, I quickly smacked his hand away.

"Wait for Mom and Daniel to come down," I said irritably. I was becoming anxious.

"Emery, is that sausage your cooking?" Daniel yawned, walking over to me and hugging me before walking tiredly to the table to await his food. Since coming to sit beside him.

"Yep, hey is mom awake yet?" I asked him.

Daniel looked over to Trinetta, his eyes came back to mine, giving me the 'you know that mom won't like that' look

"Yeah, she is taking a shower. Then she will be down. She woke me because she thinks we should do something together today since it's her day off." he said.

I grimaced at him. He looked back to Trinetta, then me. My eyes shifted to look at Trinetta, who was filling plates with eggs. My worries lifted slightly as I watched her spill some of them, cursing under her breath. She looked so cute when she got angry, a smile coming over my face.

I heard a soft gasp, I looked back over to Daniel, his mouth gaping open at me. I raised my eyebrows at him. Slowly, I watched him regain his composer. I wanted to ask what was up with him, but then I heard footsteps coming downstairs.

"Emery, it smells wonderful-" came mother into the kitchen. But she stopped mid-walk as she spotted Trinetta. Though unlike the last time my mother saw her, she didn't eye her with hunger. She just stared between me and her.

"Hey, mom. Uh, this is Trinetta, you met her a few weeks ago." I said. Putting some plates on the table. Trinetta smiled at my mother.

"It's nice to see you again Mrs Carpathia," she said in a nervous voice. My mother did her best to smile back. She seemed suspicious, she sent me a look to explain as to why Trinetta was here.

I sighed. "I made us breakfast after we eat we can talk."

My mother looked ready to argue but slowly decided not to. She walked over to the table taking her place at the head of it. My brothers on the left side, and me and Trinetta on the right.

After making sure everyone had silverware, napkins and drinks, I sat beside Trinetta, taking her hand in mine and began to eat. The table was silent for a while. No one daring to break the tension that hung over us.

"So Trinetta, tell me about yourself?" my mother asked. Her eyes going over Trinetta, scrutinizing her. Trinetta tightened her grip on my hand, I could feel her anxiousness inside myself, I tried to make myself calm so that she would, but it wasn't possible.

"Well, I am sixteen soon to be seventeen. I go to school with and am in the same classes as Emery. I love reading, though I love to write as well. I hope to be an author someday." she said, smiling brightly at my mother.

My mother lightened up a little, smiling back. "Oh so does Emery. She is a fantastic writer. Though I am sure she would rather play the guitar. She is very talented in music."

Trinetta smiled at me. "I know, though I haven't had the pleasure of hearing her play.

The rest of the conversation was the just small talk of some things Trinetta loved to do, and places she liked to go. Trinetta seemed to feel a little more comfortable after a while. But when my brothers decided to go up and dress out of their pyjamas, leaving my mother Trinetta and me alone. I knew it was going to get a lot less comfortable.

"So, may I ask why Trinetta is here so early. Not that you not invited." said my mother in a pleasant voice, looking over at Trinetta apologetically. Trinetta gave a small smile, but nervousness took over.

"Well, actually, she stayed over last night," I said. The truth was better than making up a lie. One way or the other she would know.

My mother's smile faded slightly. "Oh, well Emery you could have told me. Not that I wouldn't be ok with it, but still."

I sighed, looking to Trinetta, she just nodded. Telling me to get it over with. I turned and looked back to my mother. She was waiting for me to speak, but all that was coming out was air.

"Emery?" my mother asked. I stuttered.

"She is trying to tell you, that she and the human have mated and bonded, and the human knows of our secret." I looked up to see Daniel standing in the doorway of the kitchen.

My mother looked from Daniel to me in astonishment.

"Emery is this true?" she asked. Slowly, I nodded.

I heard my mother sigh, "Emery, this is very dangerous. How can you put yourself and your family in danger? Do you know if one word slips out to any one of the elders we could be murdered? Not to mention that you are only seventeen. You're not supposed to mate or even bond yet." my mother half yelled at me.

"Mom, I love Trinetta, she is the one I will be with forever. I don't need to wait because there is no reason. And no one will find out. She is safe, we are safe." I said though the last part didn't truly apply to myself. The day before settled in my mind, making me shiver.

"Emery, I never questioned you about your preference of gender, because I believe that love is love. But this isn't about that, this is about the fact that you are a vampire. She is a human. The bond is only supposed to be for vampire mates. If you were to get hurt, or injured horribly. It would kill her. You can withstand most injuries. But she wouldn't." my mother spoke calmly.

I looked at my mother, trying to make her understand with my eyes. "Mom, I can protect her. I can be careful. And if it comes to it, I can turn her."

My mother becomes angry. She stood up. "Emery, No! this is getting far too dangerous."

My anger flared. "Don't talk to me about dangerous. You know nothing of dangerous. I have fought a full blood that wanted to kill me because of some prophecy you never even bothered to tell me that I could possibly be it." I growled.

My mother's eyes grew wide, but I continued on my rant.

"I have had to learn these things from another vampire on my own, rather than to hear it from my own mother. And you tell me it's too dangerous to be with someone I have already mated and bonded with. How you even dare ask me to stay away from her?" I said in a low voice. My eyes glaring into my mothers.

My mother was still angry, but not as much as before. She looked curious now.

"Where did you hear about the prophecy and what Full blood?" she asked.

I sighed. "Yesterday, I met a Full blood. He called me a Halfling and talked about a lot of weird stuff I didn't understand at the time. And he followed me home, found Trinetta and took her. I had to follow him because I couldn't let him kill her. So I followed him with two vampires I know to help get her back. I fought him with some of the vampires help, we took him down. But Kaden, one of the vampires who helped, says that he wasn't dead and that he would come back. Kaden told me about the prophecy."

My mother looked stunned slightly as I mentioned Kaden. "Mrs Hills boy is a vampire?" she asked.

I nodded. "He and Cole are adopted by the Hills."

"I guess that's why they don't really look like them," she said thoughtfully.

"Why didn't you tell me, you knew," I asked with some anger behind my words.

She sighed, looking back at me. "I never really believed it. I had a suspicion. But I didn't believe it was you."

"Yeah, well I guess it's causing some problems. Because a lot of people seem to believe that I am." I said in frustration.

"Well, I certainly won't let them hurt you. And you need to be more careful if Full blood is coming after you, Emery. Haven't I told you not to reveal yourself to people? One slip up, and you could be killed. Not to mention if your killed, your mate goes too." she said, looking at Trinetta. Trinetta looked sacredly at me, her hand gripping mine.

I nodded in understanding. "I know."

My mother sighed, then looked at Trinetta. After a minute she smiled at her. "Well, she is very beautiful."

Trinetta blushed.

I smiled and looked at Trinetta lovingly. "I know she is." Trinetta smiled leaning against me.

"You both seem in love, I couldn't tear that away from you." my mother said, looking at us with a small smile.

"Does your family know about you and Emery?" asked my mother. "Though, please don't tell about the vampire part. That really needs to stay between us."

Trinetta smiled "I promise. But no, my parents, aren't really for the lesbian thing." she said softly.

I looked at my mother. "Her father, he is very hard on her. And sometimes, a little too hard." I said, Trinetta nodded. She looked down at her stomach and pulled up her shirt slightly to reveal the footprint shape bruise on her stomach. My mother gasped.

"Well, your defiantly welcome to stay here if you would like Trinetta. Though I don't want your parents to hurt you if you stay. I don't believe in physical punishment." my mother said looking at Trinetta sympathetically.

Trinetta thanked my mother. For the day my mother, brothers, Trinetta and I spent time together by playing games and watching movies. It had begun to rain out, so we decided to stay in was much better. My mother and Trinetta seemed to become a little closer that now she understood our love.

Trinetta decided to stay with us for the night once more. I could tell she didn't want to go home to her father. And I didn't really want her to leave either, I didn't want to have her there and not know what was going to happen. And plus I couldn't go that long without her in my arms either.

"So how is it that you walk in the sun?" asked Trinetta, she was leaning against my chest as we watched an anime show called Full Metal Panic. One of the few that I followed up with every episode. Trinetta liked them, but she preferred others.

I smiled, reaching into my shirt, pulling out my amulet. "Well, this protects me. it's a sun amulet. Each one is made to represent the vampire who wears it. It is made when the vampire is born or in Full blood case, made."

She smiled, touching the crystals on the wolf's eyes. Slowly I pushed out my aura, making Trinetta jump at the sudden light. She laughed while reaching out to see if she could touch it, but her fingers only moved through the air.

"Edward has nothing on you." she laughed. I raised my eyebrow, then burst into laughter after I understood what she was talking about.

"Please, vampires sparkling? I wish I had that problem, because then if I ever broke my amulet, I could just be like whatever I'll go out and compel everyone I see to not remember what they saw." I chuckled.

"what does it feel like to be compelled?" she asked, looking around to me.

I thought for a moment. "Well, there are many ways I can do it. I can make the person not remember something. Or I can make them do something without knowing they're doing it."

"Could you make them know they are doing it?" she asked a look of mischief on her face. I eyed her in suspicion.

"Maybe," I said, still eyeing her. She smiled and pulled herself onto my lap, straddling me.

"Make me do something but make it so I can know that you're making me do it," she said with a smirk.

I laughed. "Why?"

"Just do it for me," she said giving me a pleading look. "I want to know how it feels."

I thought for a moment, then smirked. I looked into her eyes and concentrated.

Trinetta reached up slowly and placed her hands on my face, pulling me to her and kissing me with passion. The feeling of excitement flowing through me once more. Man, I would never get tired of that.

After a moment I let her pull away freely. She smiled with excitement. "That was amazing, I had no control over myself."

I smiled but then became serious. "Yea, but don't ever permit another vampire other than myself to compel you. It's not always fun. Ok?"

She nodded seriously.

After watching TV for a little while longer, Trinetta fell asleep against, smiling I laid her down on my pillows, I went to turn the lights out and then crawled in beside her. Feeling tired, I placed my arms around Trinetta and fell asleep, smelling her beautiful scent.

I expected to have the same dream of flying on the battlefield with Trinetta in my arms again like I had been having for the past couple of days now. But instead, I had a rather strange dream.

I was standing on a tree covered hill, light over the horizon, a man that looked to be in his mid-twenties was standing beside me on my left. Trinetta was on my right, her hand in mine. I was feeling anxious, but determined.

"It is time." the man beside me simply stated. I felt a pang of guilt wash over me, but the determination was still there. Slowly I turned to Trinetta, I kissed her passionately before I gently pushed her back away from me.

I turned back to the man, he smiled. "Remember, clear your mind, and you will be the same inside." I nodded. He then leaned down and bit into the skin at my neck. I didn't feel pain, instead, I felt a power flow into me. Electricity sparked inside of me, making me feel like a live wire.

Then I felt excruciating pain, my body jerked and squirmed, trying to get away. He let me go, then tore into his flesh at his wrist, grabbing me off of the ground of where I fell, he stuck his wrist into my mouth. "Drink, all of it," he growled,

his face in pain but his eyes held the same determination. I obeyed, but the pain was still there, I did my best to ignore it, but Trinetta's screaming behind me was enough to kill my heart. I wanted it to end for her.

Trying to think of nothing and ignore the pain and Trinetta's screaming was very hard. But just as I felt the last drop of the man's blood pass through my lips, I could no longer ignore the pain. I screamed out in agony.

I withered on the ground as I felt my body seize up, it felt like someone was grinding my bones with a saw. My whole body felt like it was on fire. I clamped my mouth shut and closed my eyes, and tried to force away my thoughts.

The whole time, Trinetta screamed, but she seemed to have muffled it with her hands, she was trying not to break my concentration. But I knew she was in the same pain as me.

But then, as the pain reached its peak, I blacked out.

"Emery? Emery?"

My eyes flew open. I sat up, finding Trinetta in front of me, holding my arms. I looked around to find we were in my room and soft light blue was coming in from my windows. The sun was just rising.

"Hey, you were having a nightmare. You started to scream, and you called my name a few times," she said, taking my face in her hands. I realized how hot I felt as her cool hands soothed me.

"Whoa, your really warm. Are you ok?" she asked with concern. Slowly I nodded. "I'm ok. Just a nightmare."

She watched me carefully to make sure I was telling the truth.

I sighed, which turned into a yawn. "Let's go back to sleep. I will be ok. don't worry."

Trinetta nodded and laid back down pulling me against her. I breathed out deeply, trying to forget the dream. Trying to fall back to sleep was a challenge. I would sleep for maybe a few minutes at most but then wake myself back up with thoughts of having more nightmares.

Eventually, I gave up. I just laid there, stroking Trinetta's hair. Feeling kind of childish for not wanting to go back to sleep because of nightmares. But for some reason, something told me they were more than that.

Later, after I thought it was a good time to be walking around, I took a shower. Then went to make breakfast for everyone. My mother came downstairs in a rush, complaining she would be late for work. She grabbed a piece of toast before kissing me on my head and left.

My brothers came down a couple minutes later, groggily they grabbed a plate of food and sat down.

Daniel looked up at me. "So, what did it feel like to bond with her?"

I looked over at him in question. Why did he want to know?

He looked down and sighed. "There is this girl, that I feel a really strong connection with. I have kind of been seeing her behind mom's back. I have just been thinking if it happened with us, what would it feel like."

I was kind of shocked that Daniel would be the one to defy mom. I always thought it would be me or Vince first. I was first, so I pegged Vince for a second. But Daniel surprised me. I smiled, "Well its nothing short of amazing."

He smiled. "Really?"

I nodded. He smiled broadly and began to eat. Vince looked at me, then him with a raised eyebrow before shrugging going back to his food.

I heard soft footsteps come into the room, I looked over to see Trinetta, her hair slightly messed up from sleeping. But that didn't matter to me, she was beautiful in my eyes.

She looked at me and smiled. She came to my side, placing her arms around me, leaning up to kiss me on my cheek. The spot burning. I blushed deeply.

With that, I forgot about the nightmares for a while. Trinetta seemed to make me forget about everything when she was with me. I didn't worry about nightmares, Prophecies, crazy full blood trying to kill me, or any pending doom I may have.

The only thing I could think about was the beautiful girl in my arms and how much I was in love with her. As long as I had her, I would be fine.

Well, for the time being anyway.
