Ryuji saw how Yubis interacted off screen with Horus and thought. 'This really reminds me of video conferences and audio call meetings back at my company. But in a more sophisticated manner.' Because Yubis looked like a colored hologram right now though there is some divine power that he could feel with the projection but like a hologram which he often saw in sci-fi materials, it is still an image and not a physical body. 'Do gods even have a physical body to begin'. Ryuji gave a thought but abandoned it because he has more pressing matters right now: to sign a contract and travel to the beginner springs or whatever it is called. It also gives a sense of nostalgia when he has projects that are related with overseas partners and branches.
Ryuji proceeded and removed the fifth clause and did the same test. Raiji did not jump or sneeze this time. Ryuji exhaled his breath in relief because removing a clause is not that complicated as changing it. But regardless, he can ensure the safety and wellbeing of his future employees. If he would have time and resources soon, he will definitely give a thought on researching these details.
Yubis just observed the procedure with the younger wolf and this time it has the same clauses as his older brother's scroll except for the test clause. He watched as Ryuji named the younger wolf as Fuji.
"Thank you for accepting as your subordinates, master. We will lay our lives for you!" The two wolves said in unison and prostrated before Ryuji. It looked funny but he can sense the sincerity of the two brothers.
"You can just call me Ryuji. But please don't make such a ridiculous oath again." Ryuji was kind of uncomfortable and annoyed. Being called master is quite weird ever since he heard it earlier, but he held back as for the sake of testing the contracts. But what he was really annoyed about was, after all the ruckus earlier, they still want to sacrifice their lives. He has some urge to hit these wolves. "I am not a noble, so don't call me master."
"Of course! Master is not a noble, he is higher than that. He might be a god descended from above!" Raiji exclaimed. His tail is wagging and full of appreciation, more like reverence. It reminds him of an overzealous dog. The prostrating action earlier was far from his reaction right now, he was practically giddy and proud.
"…uhh." Ryuji felt embarrassed. This wolf just embarrassed me in front of a real god. "Sorry Yubis-sama."
Yubis laughed with glee. But in the back of his mind, this idea already came across, but he could not remove that possibility as well. If that would be the angle, there will be more questions to be raised. "It's alright." Yubis gave a smile.
"But master, who is this esteemed person?" Fuji asked again. He is indeed curious about this jackal man.
"Fuji, you should not question our master." Raiji adamantly quick with his reply. He is the older brother, but he quickly changed his stance toward the goblin. 'it's better not to get to their bad side. He took down several wolves alone and that peculiar power coming from this jackal man earlier is unknown.' He thought. If they were to react improperly, they might end up in a bad situation or worse die.
'This wolf, I thought he is the matured one. Once power was shown to him, he followed with no hesitation.' Ryuji glanced at the older brother who he thought was mature and sighed.
"I mean brother, I didn't mean to offend, however I can't brush off his existence as Master's acquaintance. Especially that divine aura around him." Fuji pointed out with all honesty.
Ryuji realized that the Fuji has a better grasp on magic. He was not able to see what abilities the two wolves have because of the system error. "Raiji, did you sense the aura as well?"
"I did earlier but now I don't" Raiji embarrassingly replied. He initially did feel it at the beginning like the burst of flame when lighting a candle but over time it slowly diminished. "It's like gone, master."
Yubis chuckled with the exchange. He understood for a bit why Ryuji does not want the individuality of these two to be taken away. Discovering and learning new things are quite rewarding on a personal level. Besides, the younger wolf still feels his presence and divine aura on the lowest level. He glanced at Fuji and the wolf flinched. "I am the god Yubis, lord of the beasts and knowledge." He calmly introduced himself.
The wolves bowed once again. Meeting a god for the first time is scary and unbelievable. The south Onorian wolves don't necessarily worship beasts but they heard of the being in elder's stories especially the elders, they knew that there were three gods visited by the elves before. They only heard one of them has a black beasts head. Though they are not sure if he is one of the gods visited before, it cannot be mistaken as an unknown power that they felt was higher than the usual magic that they usually feel. Likewise, the same can be felt on the goblin master but it's much more obscure.
Ryuji watched the wolves get amazed but when he heard it, he immediately thought of something. 'uhhhh… I don't know about the knowledge but it's like a riddle when reading the beginner scroll that he gave.' He does not know if he was ripped off or something. Though Yubis used the title of God of Knowledge, it was more a stand in god to be exact. The aspect of knowledge is quite important as the aspect of creation and destruction. Hades holds some titles and slowly gives them for management. Even the goddess of death is still in training, but lesser titles have been handed out.
"Forgive us for being an impertinent great one." Fuji calmly apologized.
Yubis smiled warmly. "Of course, participating with Ryuji was a fruitful one. I guess I should reward blessings unto you."
Yubis reading the goblin's puzzled face, he spoke "It's a blessing that adds a boost to any affinity and elemental skills like speed and strength. So, if someone normal casts a fireball, the ones with blessing can cast greater magic like firestorm or flaming rain. If they can't cast firestorm normally without the blessing, they have the ability to do the next tier magic like of the infernal level. That is why it's a major blessing."
"Wow you speak something like that so casually. A powerful passive skill? Any spell amplified by this can easily decimate the forest you see. Should you really be giving that much power?" Ryuji criticized. 'It would look like I would need to babysit instead of them helping me.' He thought as he started to doubt taking in these two wolves.
"Well, they should be behaving like the way you wanted that's why we did all that ruckus? So, I trust you don't mess up." Yubis smirked.
Ryuji could audibly hear his own gulp in response to what Yubis had just said. He knew it would be trouble. But what is the use of regretting it now? It would be better if he would keep an eye out of these two fellows not to cause destruction on an epic scale. Maybe Yubis can help him more, he tried probing. "How about me?"
"You? You already have several blessings already? And a lot of papyrus leftovers, those are divine items." Yubis was amused with this. In reality, he already attempted to cast the blessing, oddly enough it has not affected Ryuji. It is better to report this to Hades. "…and you haven't finished Vreta-chan's request."
"I know." Ryuji sighed. He already received his down payment earlier in the Realm of dreams and yet he dared to ask for more. The quest progress is not even 25 percent. "I will head to the location of the other relic after brunch." He added with a defeated tone, like a child that was scolded because his chores aren't finished. In truth, facing the snake gives him the chills.
"Oh w-" Yubis was cut short. Ryuji could see that Yubis was talking to someone off cam, 'this hologram tech is really cool. I should ask him later about this.'
"I think I really have to go! I will see you next time!" Yubis smiled via the hologram. "Let us go now Swift! I look forward to seeing you again Ryuji."
'Yubis is sometimes a handful' Despite him being a god and meeting a few occasions, he is the same as Ryuji when he died. 'it's a good thing that he helps me.' Ryuji thought and then gave a gentle smile. However, when the wolf brothers saw that "smile" they could not help but shiver. 'Well, let's finish Vreta-Chan's quest so I can find where my brother is. But before they could move, a peculiar sound was heard.
"Let's make our lunch first."
