Magic of the Black Saint

As soon as the elf with the golden light struck his sword down, Ryuji quickly activated his with one thought in mind. 'Time, I need more time…'

Not a second late, huge spikes of earth suddenly blocked the swords path thereby missing. More spikes appeared as it aimed to the arm of the elf shrouded in a layer of golden light.

"Get away from him and call Takehiko!" Ryuji snapped at the frozen elf. It is better to huddle the people that need protection since there is one assailant. To be honest, Ryuji's mind is chaotic at this moment. Never in his two lives and less than four decades that he experienced defending a group that has life and death consequences. All that he could rely on is his instinct.

Elan who just missed the sword suddenly realized the goblin's presence beside him. The goblin pulled the body of Alistair to the side using one arm. The goblin seemed to be having a hard time as his left hand seemed to be directed to the increasing while his right arm seemed to be pulling the bloody body of Alistair towards them.

"Oh, you are still up, vile creature… your filthy blood is not the one that my master needs… In fact, your filthy blood should be spilled right where you are standing." Galvalen calmly stated. He pulled his arm away from the series of earth spikes.

"What nonsense are you blabbering?" Ryuji replied. He made his tone as disgusting and condescending as he could. There is some sort of consciousness present on this elf warrior and if he could provoke it, it would draw attention away from the prince and his brother.

Galvalen laughed. "A mere creature gets in the way of the offerings. How naïve…" He looked down at the small stature of the dark green goblin. "Even if you are the most powerful goblin here, you are still an ugly creature that does not even deserve life."

Ryuji instead casted as his reply.

Galvalen who was unfazed by the incoming wind. "Such petty tri-" he was cut off.

Ryuji lunged at Galvalen with held by his right hand in cleaver form. He looked like some generic cannon fodder goblin in a generic medieval fantasy.

Galvalen who had a little time to react quickly stepped backwards to avoid being hit by a sinister cleaver. Thanks to his warrior training he was unscathed or maybe he could thank the lousy attack from the goblin. But he could feel something ominous with the cleaver that is held by the goblin. It's jet-black blade with intricate bone embellishments. He could feel some similar power from it. "Where did you get that thing?" He was anxious.

"What are you blabbering now?" Ryuji smirked. He taunted the elf further. 'Good. Just keep your focus to me, weirdo.' He thought. He even questioned, why would the gods allow this guy to live where in fact he wanted to kill everyone. As if this guy who acted like a total psycho is easy to pacify.

"I demand you imbecile! Where did you get that knife!?" Galvalen who was laughing earlier seemed to be anxious. Along with the golden light that surrounded mostly his neck, it sputtered and flickered showing too much reaction at one point the light looked like blinking Christmas light.

"It's none of your business…" Ryuji grinned. 'It seems that he is reacting to Hades' gift?' He asked himself within his thoughts.

"That should not be held by a mere goblin!" Galvalen declared and started to charge forward to Ryuji.

Ryuji quickly changed the into a shield and anticipated the rampaging elf with golden lights. He inwardly cursed, 'Shit'. He would soon understand that his measly actions of swinging swords would do little against the elven warrior's attacks.

The goblin and the elf warrior exchanged blows though Ryuji was able to block more than half of the attacks, but he could feel some of the slashes were going through as he felt cuts at his arms from the relentless attack of the goblin.

Takehiko and the two elven mages who was at his side saw the scene of the elves attacking as they went around the rock formation that blocked the attacker earlier. He quickly glanced at Prince Elan who was trying to cast some healing spell on a bloody elf. He muttered, "This is not good."

"Is that Sir Alistair?" One of the elven magicians worriedly asked. He was pertaining to the body who was lying beside the prince. It was no time to be astonished at how it was done but they can't help but worry about the outcome of the events.

"Let's go!" Takehiko ordered. Without any words, the three elves quickly joined the prince. Takehiko realized that the prince is still in danger and it would be better to stick together to bolster their defense. Alistair's condition also needs to be taken into consideration, he could not properly decide whether he is still alive or not. "Sir Riven, check Sir Alistair's condition quickly!" He added.

Riven quickly assessed the wounded elf using water magic. He frowned and said, "He is badly wounded. I have plugged the wounds with water magic, but he has lost a lot of blood."

Takehiko looked at Riven solemnly and spoke, "Save him. Do everything that you can." Takehiko felt awful. If only he had learned high level healing spells. All he knows currently are basics. But he held his hand over the wound and concentrated his mana. "Serthiel. Keep a shield around us." Takehiko again ordered the other mage.

A sound of metal clashing was heard. Everyone looked up and tried to find the source of the sound. They saw a bloody goblin with a shield against Galvalen who was relentless in attacking the creature. The sinister smile is no longer plastered on his face. Furthermore, the light that shrouded Galvalen is getting smaller. Earlier it was flickering on his body, but as of the moment it is localized on his neck.

Takehiko was worried. Galvalen is far more experienced in terms of fighting and from the wounds that the goblin received, it looked like he was not able to defend himself properly from the attacks. He felt he needed to help the pitiful creature. But he can't leave Alistair because no one aren't skilled in healing magic. Riven and Serthiel are magicians but both of them are not proficient with healing magic. Removing another person in the equation may decrease Sir Alistair's chances of survival. It would be a good thing if the other four elves are around, but he does not hope for that because the last time they were seen was with Galvalen before the whole debacle.

"I sealed his internal organs with water magic…" Riven anxiously commented but it is not over yet as they saw the wounded elf seemed to be having labored breathing.

"He might go into shock because of too much blood loss." Takehiko has an idea of what will happen. He might be a college student when he died but he has an idea of what happens if too much blood was lost. Besides, it has been portrayed in dramas and books too many times that he had been familiar. But right now, it is happening in real life since this world has been his new reality. He could only assume that both elf and humans have the same physiology.

"Well, you are a tight lipped for a stupid creature!" Galvalen mocked and gave a grin. He twists his sword that pierced the goblin's shoulder.

Ryuji just grunted. Shit!' He cursed inwardly. This is a messed-up quest despite it being sloppily planned he had a hard time repelling this controlled knight. It hurts as if his bones broke upon impact of the blade piercing his right shoulder. He was not able to utilize the shield properly.

"Onii-san!!!" Takehiko gasped as he saw the sword piercing the lanky body of the goblin. The first thing that came up in his mind was to stop Galvalen. It was his brother that always protected him. Their previous lives, he was able to get to college after all his brother's sacrifices after their parents were gone. He was powerless back then. He could only watch his brother toil and work while he can concentrate on studying. But in this land of mythical creatures and magic, he could do something.

"By the powers vested in me by the goddess of land…" Takehiko started to mutter. "…Heed to my call great guardian of the woodlands…"

Riven and Serthiel exchanged glances with complicated looks. They looked at the black saint as he started to chant. They knew that Takei, the black saint, could cast magic without uttering a single chant. However, according to Priestess Ydrith, she noted that the child, Takei, is much more powerful when he uses incantations with his magic. It was the first time that their Takei used his magic accompanied by incantations.

A green glow surrounded Takehiko accompanied by a gust of wind. Vines started to manifest from the nearby trees and the grass surrounding them slithering to the fighting goblin and elf with golden light.
