Chapter 2; Vampire

Flickering yellow and gold light flowed through the room and came to rest upon me and the bed I was laying upon. Groaning at the sudden surge of pouring through my veins, I glanced around the small hospital room, it had a few paintings of ruins and old cities, a desk sat underneath the only window with a jar of blossoming flowers in the early morning light. *Drip**Beap* and repeat was the only sounds apart from soft and steady breathing that could be heard in the room. The heart monitor picked up a beat every few minutes. The charts, notes and drafts told me that my heart rate had been lowering that past week until today where it beat every four minutes. They believe that I am in a coma, what a shock this will give them.

'Nix?' Nothing not even a slight stir, the venom must have done something to him, but what? Shaking my head I decided to do research on this maybe this world has a few legends, beliefs or something about one's spirit animal. The door opened as two people dressed in casual yet expensive clothes walked in, both looked tired to the point that the swayed with every move they made even the slightest twitch of their lips would send them off balance. Tilting my head at this sight I watched as my parents talked to eayh other in soft whispers neither taking notice of my being awake.

"Mother..... father." I say my voice strained and groggy from the sudden vocal and muscle strain. Shocked both of them dropped their styrofoam cups of coffee. "What's wrong?" I ask acting clueless. Both parents woke from their stupor and rushed towards me, hugging me tightly and patting my body wanting to make sure this wasn't a dream.

"Oh, honey we thought you were in a coma, when the doctors told us about your-" Mom froze as she noticed that my heart rate was still way to slow. My parents exchanged glances before sighing. Mom smiled and pretended to be none the wiser. "you were heavily injured love we thought we lost you." Mom says instead and gave me a loving kiss as dad stood up and walked away taking his phone out of his pocket as he closed the door behind himself. Hmm, that is weird.

"Is dad mad?" I ask. My mother's eyes widened in shock.

"No! Why would he be mad?" Mom asks.

"For getting myself hurt, and causing you both unrest." I say using a fancy word to sway her, my mother shook her head before holding my body close to her own.

"He doesn't care about that, though he acts like he doesn't care he loves you as much as I do. And we know it wasn't your fault you just happen to have been above the lab when it exploded." Mom says surprising me. Huh, it seems they thought me to be on the second floor when the lab exploded.

"Mom what happened before the lab exploded and why?" I ask.

"Don't worry about that, for now relax. I'm going to go help your father, rest love." Mom says kissing me one last time and then she walked away. How odd.
