She made her voice sound formal to hide her embarrassment, the smile on the other gentleman's face indicates that she's specifically had an interest with the younger one.
"I'm Detective Flores, and he is Ka—"
"Detective Santillan chief assistant of Crime investigation unit!"
He sharply cut his subordinates from fully introducing his name.
"We are here to ask you something Doc. Mendora—"
"Mendoza!" she corrected the arrogant detective sourly. "I'm sure you people did not come here for some sort of sanity check or perhaps you step in the wrong place"
Mr. Flores did not hide the smile in his lips, he seems to be amused.
"Unfortunately we're not"
Mr. Santillan smirked that makes her think of scratching those annoying lips. She never gets easily annoyed to anyone but how come she really finds this man so annoyingly, arrogant.
He showed some picture to her that makes her gasp when she recognized it.
"She's my patient, Cassandra Myer. I was expecting to see her today before you people come. She's probably waiting outside by now—"
"I doubt that!"
He said as he pulled another picture of a woman lying dead on the streets, He pushed it toward her.
"Your patient was murdered yesterday!"
"What did you say?" she asked in horror. "Murdered, where?"
"In the street on her way home, I guess"
Detective Santillan said casually like it was just normal when someone died or murdered down the street.
"Haven't you see the news?"
"I didn't!"
"Why?" he paused and examine her expression. "Look at this picture and think carefully when did the last time you saw her!"
He commanded her like he was her superior.
"She come her around four pm yesterday and leave before six, it was raining cats and dog, so I let her wear my rain coats—"
She suddenly stops when she realized that Cassandra was wearing a blue rain coat when she was murder.
"So you mean that is your coat?"
"Yes, that is mine!"
Mr. Santillan seems to be suspicious on her, and he noted every detail.
"Where were you yesterday?"
She looked straight in his eyes. "Are you suspecting me?"
"We are here to ask you Doc—
"You were out yesterday between six and seven pm?" Detective Flores asked her calmly to avoid the tention.
"I bet you check the CCTV first before coming in to see me?"
"Well—" Detective Flores hesitate.
"That's make me a suspect, isn't it?" she laughed discreetly. "You made a good job on it, but why do you have to asked me when you already knew I was out on that time?"
"Miss Myer was murdered around seven thirty pm yesterday and you were out between five and six, Am I right?"
Lucy noted that the two detective asked her two different question about the time. They were trying to confused and trap her.
"Wrong!" she said bluntly that makes them look in each other. "If I was out between five and six, then how come Cassy step out in my office half past five?"
She casually throws a log book in front of them. The two Detectives scan it, there they saw Ms. Myer time in/out and signature.
"Does it make sense to you, supposed I leave Cassy her and stroll outside in a heavy rain?"
"But the CCTV's time?"
Detective Flores asked confusedly.
"Doesn't it ring a bell to both of you?"
Detective Santillan was analyzing the situation carefully. Ms. Myer step out at five thirty in the log book but in the CCTV record it was six o'clock and the estimated time of her death was seven thirty.
It was exactly one hour after she leaves the clinic. The most suspicious thing is the time, the CCTV's time does not coincide in Doc. Mendoza's record.
"Given the chance that Someone tampered the time or you changed your own clock so Ms. Myer wrote it herself according to the time she saw so you could plan—"
"Are you really a Detective or a mystery writer?" she asked grimly. "Given the estimated time of Cassy's death from leaving the clinic, whether my time was late or not, It was one hour to be exact, wasn't it?"
"Exactly—"
"Base on my watch, I went outside yesterday forty-five minutes past six and come back here in the clinic at eight pm and Cassy's was murdered around seven thirty which gives me plenty of time to kill her, is that what you mean Mr. Santillan?"
"As what you have said, it was your coat she was wearing that makes you recognize her amongst the crowd?"
"I could sue you for accusing me, Detective Santillan!" Lucy warned him. "You're already interrogating me like a criminal right now!"
"I apologized!" he sound sincere that makes her frown.
Another tactic of his! She thought, he could not get her the hard way so now he was trying to use the other way around.
Lucy sigh. She suddenly felt tired talking to them. She's innocent but somehow, felt like Detective Santillan is insisting that she's the murderer.
"First even if I grow wings, I could not fly in the crime scene in just thirty minutes and come back here at eight, considering the CCTV time is thirty minutes advance, so I come home at thirty minutes past eight?"
"Correct!" Detective Satillan agreed to her. He was drowned into thinking again.
She didn't take her car when she went out, using a car takes a long time as she need to detour.
On foot? Then how did she knew Ms. Myer exact location, if she leaves before six while Doctor Mendoza leave before seven?
It doesn't make sense either, not unless someone was actually tailing—he paused on his thought when he realized something was off.
He suddenly looked at Lucy in concern.
"Why did Ms. Myer come in here?" Kai absentmindedly asked when Lucy meet his eyes.
It makes Detective Flores brows wrinkled.
She looks at him in disdain. Lucy was actually impressed on him awhile ago, now he suddenly become a complete idiot.
"Why do you think people come here, Mr. detective? You knew that this place isn't your typical leisure spree not unless your sanity is in question!"
"Cut the crap-"
"Next time mind your question!"
She throws an angry squint, that makes the other detective laugh discreetly.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I could not disclose any personal information about my client, if that's what you want. I hope you realized that it was against the law!"
"We are here to investigate Doc. Men—"
She glared at him imperiously.
"If you want to know something you have to present a court request, at least you people knew about that before coming in here. Besides this is how our system goes, isn't it?"
"Certainly, Ma'am!"
Mr. Flores give her a discreet smile and elbowed his superior.
"We will comeback tomorrow with the court request!"
They were about to step out when Detective Santillan remember something.
"I believe you ignored my question when I ask you about the news!"
Lucy's eyebrows almost meets in between.
"I hate news!"
Detective Santillan looked flustered but nevertheless he let it slide and turn around.
