Way out! [1]

She knew what he meant, it was a bargain.

"What do you want me to do?"

"I already told him your story, he agreed to accept a guilty plea from you!"

Even though she knew what was going on but still she was shocked to hear it from him. 

A guilty plea? Seriously! She was about to yell at him but calm herself instead. The one who get busted is the loser! She reminded herself and remained calm.

"I'm innocent why on earth—"

He raised a hand. "Hear me out. By pleading guilty you save the state for the expense of trial. I've persuaded the judge that you did not kill Ms. Myer but you accidentally killed Ms. Barrios when you got drunk!"

"That absurd, isn't it just admitting the fact that I killed my own best friend?" Lucy thought angrily, he is surely prepared before coming here.

"But if I plead guilty" she asked while closing her eyes, she need to hide her emotion by pretending to be in despair.

"What will they do to me?"

"Judge Torres will sentence you to eighteenth months in prison—"

"Prison!"

The horrible thought of it got her nerve. Prison? When I'm innocent and someone was actually out there living his life like nothing happened? She silently grits her

teeth. 

Atty. Sebastian sigh. " If they put you on trial it only means the end for you. You could be sentenced to fifteen years or worst a life sentence. I can only give you my best advice, It's your decision." 

"You can still do your probation out of state" Atty. Sebastian was patiently watching her. " I want your answer now or you could find another lawyer if you want—"

"No! Just give me sometime!" Lucy snapped, She needs to buy a time.

"I'll be back tomorrow, I hope you made up your mind and make things easy for your own good!" his voice suddenly becomes alive again.

Lucy did not commit any, she just told him that she'll think about it. No she doesn't have time to think she has to make a move before it's too late.

She could not imagine herself being lock up for fifteen years or even for the rest of her life, she didn't murder her own best friend and why does she had to pay the crimes she did not even do? 

Why does she need to be a sacrificial pawn instead of finding the real culprit?  

"Let's do it tomorrow!"

She whispered to the woman who offered her the best survival. 

Lucy had no choice, she had to gamble. Both offers were dangerous, but she had to choose among them. One offered her the most impossible way, She could not even trust that man. While the other one offered her the most critical way. 

She knew that atty. Sebastian was just a big bluff. She wasn't a fool to believe in him, he was too eager to make everything obvious, and she wasn't that stupid to fall for his scheme. 

The woman who offered her did not answer her, Lucy assume that she change her mind, and she would no longer interested in helping her.

"Just make sure to make my daughter safe. Bring her to a boarding school and put someone else to be her legal guardian!"

"How I'm going to do that—"

"Just promise me!" The woman's voice crooked. "She needs to have a good life, a new name. Tell her that I'm fine, She has to erased me in her memory!" 

The woman suddenly sobs, Lucy felt her tears silently fell into her checks. The two of them were really hopeless, they could not even fight in an open.

"I had a money, used it all for her. The pass code of that vault is her birthday!"

"But how am I supposed to go out in here?" Lucy asked confusedly.

"Don't worry I already made up my mind, just don't waste my effort. No matter what happened you have to escape from her!"

Lucy stay awake the whole night, no matter how hard she tried to sleep still the horrible thoughts of being lock up forever still lingers in her. 

She was also confused, how on earth she could manage to get out from this hell without fighting her way out? Lucy stares at the back of the woman, she knew she could not sleep either.

"Get ready!" 

Lucy heard the woman's voice, but she was still in daze, She did not move a bit.

"It was already too late to back out!" Lucy thought bitterly. She close her eyes. "But if I could be able to get out from here. I'm going to run away as far as I could!"

The police woman called them out, she open the cell for their morning routine. They were women after all, and still innocent unless proven guilty. 

"Make sure to make it fast. Breakfast will be served soon!" The police woman commanded them.

Lucy walked slowly, she was still in daze. Suddenly she felt an urge of danger but it was too late for her to react. She heard someone scream in panicked and all the police officers gathered in an instant with guns in their hands.

"What are you doing?" she hissed, unable to comprehend what's going on. 

A sudden fear runs through her senses. The woman, who offers her the way out hostage her. She had a knife in her hand, held against Lucy's throat.

She could not even think where the woman find the knife!

"One wrong move and I'm going to kill her!" 

All the police back off a little, but they were still on their guards.

"What are you doing?" Lucy trembled with fear. "You could be sentenced to death by doing this!"

"I told you, this is the end for me!" the woman whispered to her while leading her to move. "Keep your promised!"

It took for sometimes before she realized what the woman meant. It was a suicide! 

Lucy was just a bait! 

"Please don't do this to me!" Lucy beg her, she already screamed. "Don't do this to me please!" 

The police officers that hears her misunderstood everything. For them it was like Lucy was pleading the woman not to harm her but in fact she was pleading the woman not to sacrifice herself for her.

"I'm sorry darling but there's no other way!" The woman hugged her. "Keep your promised!"

Lucy suddenly felt a stinging blow that rocked her whole body. The woman draw the sharp thing inside her flesh and blood gush out below her belly, She stood in horror and find herself unable to breath. 

The police officers who witness the scene were all shocked. They all froze, until the woman is about to give another blow that's the time they heard a couple gun shot.

Lucy screams in horror.

"No please no!" She hysterically screamed. She watched the woman slowly fell into her knees. "We should bring her to the hospital, Please!" 

All the people in that station were in a state of panicked. Everything happened so fast that no one could be able to response.

"What happened in here?" Kai's voice echoed like a thunder. "Ms. Mendoza?"

He comes closer to where Lucy leaned against the wall while holding her wounds to prevent the bloods to gush out. As soon as Kai saw it, he wrap her with his jacket and help her pressed the wounded part.

"Hang on in there don't sleep!" Kai was trying to make her conscious.

She smiled at him for the first time. "It's ok!" 

"I told you to take care of yourself—" Kai suddenly feel a pain stuck in his chest. He felt like crying. "What are you all doing? Where is the ambulance?"

Kai shouted at the top of his lung. He wants to throw a fit to everyone but his anger won't change anything.

Before they could answer Kai already heard the siren and without a word he immediately carried Lucy into the ambulance.
