Chapter 2: The Adventure Begins

Alone, in the hut once more, he sat there pondering his current situation.[ I can't believe this all really happening] He thought as he stared blankly at the thatched roof of the hut.

[Inventory], and a grid like prompt appeared in front of him. the grid was a ten by ten set of one hundred boxes but only the first, empty, box was lit up.

" I wonder" He said to himself, as he picked up the empty bowl from earlier. He pressed the bowl against the prompt and it disappeared. The bowl could be seen in the first box, and now the second box was lit up like the first one previously was. " As I thought I will have to test the limits of this in the future."

Adrian closed the prompt in front of him, after retrieving the from within, and placing it back on the nightstand. He got his feet and pushed the hide curtain to the side and left the hut.

"Where are you off to in such a rush, dearie?" The woman asked him as he left the hut.

"Is there any larger towns near here where I could find supplies?" He asked her in response.

"The closest town to here would be Faldor, and that's about a days journey from here" She told him, as she pointed the west, to signify the direction the town was in.

Adrian nodded his head and started walking towards the direction she had pointed, "Thanks ma'am, for the help I really appreciate it." He said as he passed by.

"Now hold on there dearie" She said after he had already walked a couple dozen feet away." Don't just run off first chance you get, it dangerous out there. You'll get your self killed, without a proper way to defend your self you know. ill be right back?" And she sauntered off back into the hut only to emerge moments later with plain short sword." This here, sword belonged to my husband, I want you to have it. I bet till see far more use in your hands then getting dusty on a shelf."

Taking the sword from her, he asked" Thanks ma'am, but what do you mean by, used to belong to your husband?"

"Oh George died last spring, when a group of demons attacked this village." She replied with a look of recalling horrible memories." He saved this town, but I lost him instead."

"You have my condolences ma'am, I am sorry for your loss." He replied with a tinge of remorse in his voice. He place the sword in his inventory, and turned to walk away.

Seeing the sword vanish into thin air, the woman asked" Sir, are you a demon hunter by chance?"

Adrian stop and looked at her confused" What's a demon hunter?" He replied.

"Sorry I assumed you were, because of the special magic you used just now." She answered " The demon hunters are the main force on this continent that protects us from the demons. Without them humans in this world would have died off years ago."

" Oh, is there a way for someone to become a demon hunter?" Adrian asked with eyes full of anticipation.

"Yes dearie, there is a demon hunter guild hall in Faldor, where you are heading. I am surprised to hear you've never heard of demon hunters before though." She replied with a confounded look on her face.

"Do you happen to know the requirements for joining the demon hunters guild by chance?" He asked excitedly

" You sure ask allot of questions, dearie" She said with a laugh " You just need to kill a demon and bring its corpse back to the guild hall and they will give you a rank befitting the strength needed to kill a demon of that level, and they will pay you for it as well. Simple enough don't you think, dearie"

"Okay, got it. thanks again ma'am, if you ever need help look for me at the demons hunters guild. My name is Adrian by the way, miss" He said as he started to leave the village yet again.

"you can call me Maggie" She shouted behind him as he left the village, to start his new life on this unknown world.
