Chapter 16

"Aesop? Are you alright now?" Emily worriedly asked.

"I thought you were just sleeping, but then I realized you actually passed out..." Emily said while looking at me intently.

"What is wrong with you these past 2 days? You kept on passing out." She added.

"I... E-Emily, do you know about the guy who Jack killed?" I asked nervously.io

Emily frowned, you could clearly see that she was bothered.

"I... I don't want to talk about it..." She murmured.

"B-but..."

"Aesop. Don't bother her about it." Kevin suddenly chimed in.

"..."

"I'll... Get something..." Emily said before standing up and leaving us alone.

As I heard the door creak as it closed, I turned to Kevin.

"What... Happend?" I asked.

"This..." Kevin said while looking uncomfortable.

"I won't tell anyone. I promise." I said while raising my hand, about to take a vow when suddenly, Kevin held my hand, apparently stopping me from making a vow.

"No need. I'll just tell you." Kevin said before narrating the whole story.

(Emily's POV)

"N... No... Hildegard..." I said with a quivering voice. I was trembling all over as I saw her lying on a pool of blood.

I held her whole body, while slightly pushing her, hoping I could see any sign of life.

Tears flowed out my eyes as she was now lying in my arms. I quickly took her hand to check for a pulse.

My eyes shined brightly as I could faintly sense a pulse.

"Kevin! Quickly take her back! She has a pulse!" I cried to Kevin who was now in a daze.

"O-Oh! Alright!" He responded.

Suddenly, when Kevin was about to carry her, I heard an extremely familiar voice.

"E-Emily..." She said. Her face was pale and she looked like she was devoid of blood. Apparently, that one word took up almost half her remaining strength.

"Hildegard! Shut up! Stop talking!" I hurriedly screamed.

"Look... I don't have much time left... I..." She said before pausing and taking a deep breath.

"I- I don't want you having a grudge because of me..." She murmured. This time however, she looked paler than ever.

"Shut up! You can't do this to me..." I cried while hugging her harder.

"Emily." She smiled.

"Promise me... You won't hate Jack for-" She said before suddenly coughing up blood.

"Hildegard!" I cried.

"Just... Promise me... Alright?" Hildegard said while raising her trembling hand.

"Yes! Okay! I promise! But you have to hang in there!" I said as I locked my finger with her and signaling Kevin to hurry up.

---

"You probably guessed what happend in the end." Kevin said while sighing to himself.

"I- I'm sorry."

"It's all good." Kevin murmured.

"I'll get going now, I have an upcoming match in around 10 minutes or so." He added before standing up and getting ready to leave.

"Oh right! Be careful, alright?" He said before running towards the door and leaving.

Meanwhile, on the hunters side of the manor.

"Yo circus dude, you hungry yet?" Leo asked.

"Not yet, how bout you?" Smiley asked back.

"I kinda am." Leo said before yet again munching on his chips.

"And this is why you're fat!" Smiley grinned before running away.

"You little!" Leo said before running after Smiley.

"Hey, Wu Chang. You there?" Michiko asked while floating towards the duo.

"Ah huh."

"Yeah." The two answered in unison.

"Shut up Bi'an! She was talking to me!" I heard Wujiu scream.

"She technically said Wu Chang so she's basically calling the both of us..." White calmly explained.

"Whatever!" Wujiu grumbled before finally asking.

"Okay what?"

"Don't you think Jack is-"

"Jack again? You've been talking about him non-stop for a day straight already. Jack this, Jack that, Jack everywhere!" Wujiu screamed before pouting.

"Ew. Don't pout. You look like the reincarnation of Hephaestus." Burke chimed in. (A/N: Hephaestus was the only ugly god among perfectly beautiful immortals. Hephaestus was born deformed.)

"Whatever, I don't talk back to oldies." Wujiu rolled his eyes. "Also, I didn't know you were into greek mythology stuff." He shrugged.

"You!" Burke said while raising his metal stick.

"What?! Wanna fight?!" Wujiu shouted.

"Black." Bi'an said before calmly gazing at his brother.

Suddenly, Black thought of something and stared intently at Bi'an.

"..."

After a few seconds of gazing, just when Bi'an was about to grumble uncomfortably, Black suddenly had a look of 'I got it!' face.

"Apparently, old man Burke. Upon seeing my brother's beautifully sculpted face and perfect jaw line, I myself would obviously look devilishly handsome as well." He said while smiling like a fool.

"..."

"How shameless can he be?!" Everyone thought.

Except of course, Bi'an. Upon hearing his brother compliment him, he flashed a smile on his face.

Upon hearing the latter, Burke rolled his eyes and went back to his room.

"Hehe, that old man can't beat me." Wujiu smugly said.

"Guys! Seriously! Don't you think Jack was also like this when he... Killed Hildegard in the past?" Michiko finally said.

"Hm... You're right." White said while contemplating.

"But what can we do? Jack's the enforcer here." Wujiu said while eating the grapes he found on the table.

"Sigh. I guess we'll just have to wait and see whatever he'll do this time." Bi'an said.

After a few minutes of silence, Wujiu suddenly stood up and screamed ecstatically.

"Bi'an come with me!" He grinned before dragging White with him.

"Ugh. What now?" White said while being dragged.

Jack's POV

"Joseph... Aesop... Naib... I'm sorry... " I said while gazing at the night sky. I suddenly felt so... Lonely...

Ever since I killed Hildegard, Naib has been cold to me, I'm lucky that he's starting to slowly forget about the past.

"Can I ever be forgiven?" I mumbled before tears suddenly pooled up my eyes.

"Ugh. What is this? Such a pitiful sight." Mary suddenly said.

Surprised, I looked up and saw her wearing her signature red dress.

"Mary?" I asked.

"What? Don't ask me questions I can't answer." She shrugged.

"I'm just... Thinking whether Naib will hate me again... I-"

"You know, it's your job to enforce the rules. If Naib hates you for that then so be it, but obviously, the host favors you as he knows he can trust you for the job." Mary emotionlessly said.

"Whether or not you'll kill any of them is up to you. I believe the host wouldn't tell you what to do." She said before sitting next to me.

I silently stared at her and contemplated.

"Thanks..." I mumbled.

I'm back :3

Anyway, Hildegard is an oc of mine which I decided to put in the story. I originally didn't want to add any other characters beside the original survivor and hunters but I just decided that I'll add one.

Also, if you have noticed something with Jack, he has dual personalities. Mainly the reason why he's sometimes soft (like today) and mostly moody/whatever you wanna call him.

Sneak Peek for next chapter uwu

"Joseph I-"

"I know... It's about Jack, isn't it?" I cut him off. Apparently already knowing what he'll say.

"Yeah... I... I should stay away from you." Aesop suddenly said.

"What?!"
