Chapter Seventeen~

Joseph's POV

In-game

As I ran after Aesop, he secretly threw me a glance which he usually does when he wants to talk to me after the match.

I smile at the thought and gave him a weak nod before hunting other survivors.

---

"Oh? What did you want to talk to me about? You don't usually take the initiative to call me." I teasingly told Aesop as I ruffled his hair.

Aesop stayed silent.

I frowned, I've never seen him stay silent when I talk to him.

Aesop then looked up and stared at me. Opening his mouth and closing it shut. It was like he wanted to tell me something but was afraid to say it.

"Aesop."

"Joseph I-" He suddenly blurted.

"I know... It's about Jack, isn't it?" I cut him off. Apparently already knowing what he'll say.

Surprise was written all over Aesop's face. It was like he didn't expect me to know.

"Y-yeah." Aesop said before I saw his face turn paler than usual.

Seeing this sight, my heart ached for him. I can't let him get hurt. I hugged him tightly as I silently kissed his forehead.

"It's gonna be okay." I comforted.

I felt Aesop's tiny fist tighten as I hugged him.

"I... I should stay away from you." Aesop suddenly said as he was in my embrace.

"What?! What do you mean?!" I shouted at him as I felt my heart tighten.

"I mean we should break up." Aesop said while gritting his teeth. His face was pale and I could see tears form in his eyes.

My heart sank as I felt my chest tighten. My eyes turned blurry as I tighten my hold against Aesop's shoulders.

"Why?! Didn't I just say that it'll be alright?!" I exclaimed as I choked on my own tears. The air around me suddenly felt extremely stuffy.

Anger, Sadness, Loneliness and other feelings mixed up inside of me. I was at a loss about what to feel.

"You think I wanted this?!" Aesop suddenly shouted as his eyes glistened with tears. His grip on me tightened to the point where it hurt, but I couldn't care less about that.

"Aesop... Please? You can't do this to me..." I softly pleaded as I leaned on his shoulder.

"Don't leave me... Please..." I begged again. This time however, my voice was barely audible.

"I'm sorry... I... I just don't want you to get hurt..." Aesop said as he sobbed.

"We were never supposed to be together anyway... It's forbidden... We knew it from the start yet..." Aesop choked on his tears. "Yet we still did it despite knowing the consequences." Aesop added before hugging me even tighter.

"Aesop..." My voice trembled.

"I love you but... This is goodbye..." Aesop finally said before standing on his tiptoe and kissing me.

That kiss didn't make me happy at all. It made me feel worthless as I couldn't even protect the people I love... Including Claude...

I was still lost as I stared at him, I felt so lifeless. My eyes were red and I could barely process anything that was happening. I felt suffocated.

Before I knew it, Aesop was already gone.

Jack's POV

I was extremely nervous as I stood before the host's door. I was gonna ask something which obviously isn't allowed.

"Come in." A voice said before I could even raise my hand and knock on the door.

I took a deep breath and walked inside.

"From your actions you're... The other Jack... Am I right?" The host asked.

"Yes, host." I answered.

"Speak. What do you want?" The host said before throwing me a glance.

"It's... About Naib..." I muttered softly, afraid that the host would get angry.

The host frowned but continued to stare at me.

"Can I... Talk to him?" I asked as I looked at the host nervously.

"Whatever. You know I don't like relationships. You can talk but if he gets in the way..." He said with a threatening voice.

My eyes sparkled as I heard him.

"Thank you host!" I exclaimed before bowing and taking my leave.

Naib's POV

"Naib? Can I... Can I talk to you?" I heard Jack mumble.

"Eh? How'd you get here?" I asked while looking around. Apparently confused how he even got here. Did he teleport or what?

"Can I?" His face turned serious.

"S-sure." I stuttered before leading the way to the Garden.

After a few twist and turns, I could finally see the Garden.

I sighed in relief as I was quite tired since I just finished a match with Joseph.

I was about to go inside with Jack when I suddenly heard a faint humming voice from the Garden.

Great. Now I have to drive Emma away.

I stared at the rEalLy tall man as I mouthed the "sorry" to him.

"I need to drive her out." I quietly said, afraid that Emma would hear me from here.

Jack nodded in agreement and stayed silent.

"Wait here." I said as I opened the large garden doors and walked towards Emma.

"Emma." I said while holding her shoulder.

"Jesus!" Suddenly, Emma jumped up from her original position with a look of fright plastered on her face. I must've scared her.

"O-oh sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." I said as I raised my hand above my head.

"I-it's fine." She said before sighing.

"Hey Emma, can you tend to the garden later? I wanna uhm... A-admire the garden! Yes! I wanna admire the garden!" I said while stuttering.

I heard Jack softly laugh behind me and my hair suddenly got destroyed.

"N-naib... Y-you're hair is... Your hair is moving by itself!" Emma exclaimed while pointing at my hair.

"It's just the wind." I calmly said while my brain was silently cursing Jack for ruffling my hair.

Emma gave me a "I don't trust you." Look before saying.

"Sureee. The wind." She said while emphasizing the word "wind."

After about a few minutes of driving Emma away, I finally asked.

"So, what brings you here?" I said before turning around to see Jack.
