First official quest

Turek and Cleo just looked at me in surprise. I might have come off as angry at them. Maybe I was afraid that since I was the youngest, the two of them will ignore me.

After a few seconds, Cleo tried to pacify me by patting me head and saying with a smile "Of course you are the leader Ren. Isn't that right Turek?"

Turek just nodded quickly as if he didn't want to contradict Cleo or make me angry.

I looked at both of them suspiciously. Are they pulling my leg? Or am I really the leader? I kept looking at them for a few more moments before I decided to drop the whole thing.

"Alright, should we get going then?" said Cleo.

"Sure, let me get a bit more food from the stalls outside." said Turek.

"Alright, we will grab the quest and meet you by the door Turek. Let's go Cleo."

Cleo and me when to the board and grabbed the Kura quest. Yesterday, I had simply decided to go into the forest without officially accepting the quest. This time there was no reason to not officially accept the quest. I didn't see Miss Melaine so I took the quest to a different person at the booth.

"Hello. I would like to accept this quest. What do I need to do"

"Can you show me your guild card?"

I handed my guild car to the woman behind the counter. She seemed like she was in no mood for chit chat just like Miss Melain. Are all guild employees really efficient or something?

She wrote down something and said, "I have registered you for this quest in the guild records. It looks like this is your first guild quest so I will give you a bit more information. This quest is valid only for today. If you are late or try to do this quest without officially accepting it again, you will not receive the guild reward. You may still sell this herb to the guild but the price will be lower. It also will not be counted towards your ranking. Do you have a map of the area you are going?"

"No I have not yet bought a map"

"Since this is your first official quest, the guild will help you out by giving a map. This map is not very detailed but it should be enough for you to finish this quest. You can buy more detailed and up to date maps from the guild if you want as well"

She handed me the map and I thanked her before leaving. Cleo had not said anything the whole time but she asked to see the map as soon as we left the counter.

She spent a few minutes looking at the map and the quest information before handing them back to me.

"Ok, I have looked had the map and figured out how we could get there as quickly as possible while still being safe. There are some dangerous areas that we can avoid on the way. While the herb itself grows in a relatively safe area, the way there is not that safe. There have been sightings of various predators as well as bandits in the area."

The guild map had a lot of information and it looks like Cleo is good at reading it to figure out the most useful information. While she can be a bit clumsy, she could actually become a good adventurer.

"That's good to know Cleo. Lets meet up with Turek and set off. We need to be back before guild closing time to earn the reward."

"Alright"
