Budgeting

I started the party meeting. "We have 2 problems we need to solve. First, we need to decide that quest to take. Second is the issue of food and water. Since Turek won't be able to bring water pouches or supply bag to our next quest."

"Hmm… I thought we could just do the Kura quest again?"

"Yeah, it seems easy enough and this time I won't eat the herb!"

"While you eating the herb did make things more difficult, we were also luck since we didn't encounter any predators or bandits. Our luck might not hold every time. While I am not opposed to the Kura herb quest, do you remember how difficult it was to find any more by the end? There wasn't much of it left where we were searching. We might have to climb higher to get more and this time we won't have much water"

Turek looked a bit dejected but Cleo seemed unfazed.

"Water shouldn't be a problem right? We have some money, even if it's not much. We should be able to buy a pouch or two and use the river like the last time. Do you know how much the pouches cost Ren?"

I replied "I haven't bought one myself but I would assume it costs at least 50 coppers. Do you know how much they cost Turek?"

Turek looked uncomfortable. "Uh… yeah… the ones I brought were 1 silver each. If you want good quality water pouches, its costs more. I didn't have to buy today's pouches. I just borrowed them from Peter."

Cleo just stared at Turek in disbelief. She had thought they had enough money to buy 2 pouches. Turns out we didn't have enough for even one pouch.

All 3 of us were poor and we didn't know anyone to borrow the money from. I was wondering if it would have been a good idea to scam some money from the thugs in the guild during the bet.

It seemed Cleo had the same thought.

"Damn it! I should have taken some money from those punks in the guild. I let them off too lightly."

That was a light punishment? I wonder what she thought was a heavy punishment in that case. Both of them probably couldn't use their arms for a few days. And all they had done to deserve that was bullied me. It's not like they had actually hurt me. Anyway, she was right. If she had bet money, we wouldn't be in this situation. But that's just hindsight and there was nothing we could do anymore.

"So what do we do?" asked Turek. He seemed like he was feeling bad about not being able to bring the pouches again.

"I will go to the market tomorrow morning and try to find some cheap supplies with the money we have. We need to live here for at least 1 more day, so I will try to find the cheapest items I can find" I replied.

Cleo handed me the one silver she had. I took it and gave the 20 coppers I had left to her. Now she has only 30 coppers, 15 of which will be need to for tomorrow's stay. We won't be able to eat anything if I can't find anything cheaper than 1 silver.

"Alright guys, lets go to sleep. We will handle tomorrow, well tomorrow" said Cleo. It seemed she still had energy to cheer us up.

Me and Turek slept on the joined bed and Cleo slept on her own bed. She brought up joining the bed again but started sulking when we rejected the idea again. I hope she wont stay mad at us in the morning.
