After finishing breakfast, we decided to go shopping. We bought several supplies including bags, a tent, blankets for sleeping. Since I was not alone this time, we didn't have anyone ignoring us. After all how could anyone ignore Cleo and Leana. If anything we drew too much attention.
We went to an apothecary to get some medicines for small cuts, bruises and diseases. As I had suspected, they were not cheap. The medicine cost us almost 10 silvers but we decided that it was worth it. If we get injured during the journey, we wouldn't be able to come back all the way to the city.
We bought some food from the stalls that we could eat today but mostly we bought salted meat and bread so that it would last us through the 3 day journey. Once that was done, we went to the weapon shop to buy some armor and weapons. As it turned out, I was right. The weapons were not cheap at all. We spent 20 silvers just for weapons and leather armor for Cleo and Leana. Both Cleo and Leana got iron swords that they were familiar with. Turek and I got an iron knife each but both of us didn't know how to use it. It seemed better to have something that nothing, so we got the cheapest knives we could find. We bought a light armor for Turek but nothing for me. The shop didn't have anything that could fit my small size. I guess they didn't make armor for children. Who knew huh? We searched in other shops but with the same result. We found a small armor in an expensive looking shop but it cost almost 3 gold coins. We left there in a hurry. I told Cleo that it was fine and we could just buy some sturdy clothes instead.
At this point we had already spent 30 silver coins out of our 55 leaving us with only 25 silvers. We bought some cheap clothes for all of us except Leana. She had some clothes at home she could bring. We spent 5 silvers at the clothing store. Now we only had 20 silver left. But at last, we were done with shopping.
Now that we were done shopping, me and Cleo headed to the guild while Turek went back to the inn to organize and pack while Leana went to her home to pack her stuff.
After we arrived at the guild, I asked about transferring to another city at the registration booth. It turned out we didn't need anything other than our guild cards. Information stored at one guild location is transferred to other locations every week. At most, it will take a week for the other guild to know about the quests we have finished. The rest of the information was on our cards. Since we had done only 2 quests so far, I wasn't really worried about the one week delay.
We went back to the inn and found that Turek were done packing while Leana had also come back from her home. She really didn't have a lot of things and only a little bit of money. Apparently you don't get paid a lot as a city guard.
We left the inn after paying the remaining amount. We headed toward the east gate since that was the closest gate to Tiaanway. Leana knew most of the guards there and she said her farewell to them. She didn't tell them about where she was going since she didn't want that information to get back to Alan. It wasn't that she didn't trust the guards but after we told her about the cook yesterday, she decided to be more careful.
We finally left the city around 10am. There was no forest on the east side of the city for at least 5 miles. It was mostly grassy and sometime barren open land. We could see any dangers from far away.
When we were far enough from the city that we could barely make out its wall, we decided to take a break. Me and Turek didn't have the same stamina as Cleo and Leana and were tired already. The pace that Cleo set put me almost at my limit. As soon as we stopped, I could barely stand but on the other hand Turek dropped on the ground.
Leana laid down a cloth mat for everyone to sit. Turek moved to the mat gladly and spread over it, taking up most of the space. Cleo threatened to kick him in the head if he didn't get up. Turek protested but finally got up with some difficulty after he almost got kicked.
Leana seemed at a loss to explain Turek's behaviour. She couldn't believe that Turek got so tired in just a 5 mile walk. "Are you really that tired? We walked only around 5 or 6 miles in last 1 hour. Tiaanway is around 80 miles from the city. We have a long way to go, you know? How are you going to walk for 80 miles if you got tired in only 5 miles?"
Turek was too tired to reply so I answered. "Well, considering out level of strength, I don't think we will make it in 2 days."
Cleo had been silent so far. I was hoping that she would have a way. She probably wanted to get there even faster.
Leana sighed and asked "Do we have enough food for more than 2 day journey?"
I responded. "I don't think so. We will need to scavenge in the forest to make do."
"What are we going to do once we get to Tiaanway?" asked Turek suddenly.
"Glad you are finally awake! Well once we get to Tiaanway, I think we can find an Inn to stay. Once we have a good place to stay, we can check the guild for new quests" I replied.
"We should also find some books so Turek can learn magic. It would be even better if we could find someone to teach him" added Cleo.
"Yeah, I really want to start learning magic! I have never used magic before. I don't understand how I have 5 magic value." said Turek.
"The whole energy - experience system is quite confusing. I think we can worry about it later" I replied.
Leana was looking at the ground and looked like she was thinking about something. After some time she looked at Cleo and asked
"Cleo, do you want to have a spar? I want to improve my skills. We don't have to use any weapons. We can just spar empty handed"
"Sure Leana. Lets have friendly match after we finish eating"
After eating and taking some rest, Leana and Cleo decided to start the sparring match.
