Chapter 6

I looked up only to see a man who was wearing a red formal suit. He looked like a noble and he possessed such an intimidating aura. He was good looking and his silver eyes made me stare at it for a few seconds before replying to him.

"I'm a maid. I'm not here to enjoy the party but to look after his highness" I answered politely.

"Well, I couldn't tell. You look beautiful. Way more beautiful than the ladies over there" he said with a deep voice.

I looked at the ladies he eyed on and I left out a small laugh.

"Surely, you're exaggerating but thank you" I gave him a polite curtsy.

He looked at me intensely and I didn't notice how his hand has already reached my face.

"You have Hazel eyes. It's the first time i've seen someone who possessed such eyes" He said before giving me some space.

"I could say the same to you. Your eyes are silver!" I said with excitement.

"That's because I was given a blessing from the gods" he replied as he took a glance at me once again.

"My name is Vincent. What's yours?" he introduced himself.

"Arlene Grace your highness" I introduced.

This must be what Damien was talking about. He was the person who could grant people their wishes to come true. If he will like me enough, then I'll take this chance to get to know him.

For the past few hours, Damien was busy earning his reputation for the first time. I was looking at him talking to the people who I thought that would help him in the future. He would occasionally stop to look at me and I gave him a small smile to let him know he was doing good. William on the other hand was busy being surrounded by the single ladies. I, on the other hand, Vincent had me busy for the night.

We were talking about a lot of things and I must say, he was a decent guy. He told me stories about the people who he had tried to date before but they all end up dumping him saying his silver eyes were too intimidating. Once, a girl tried to kill him out of fear that made him traumatised.

"How mean. You eyes looks beautiful to look at though. I've always hated mine because they look so normal and they're nothing special to look at, but yours makes me feel like I'm drowning in something. It's addicting to be honest" I confessed.

"Whenever I stare into your eyes, somehow I can feel myself getting lost" I added.

"That's exaggerating but thank you. No one has ever said that to me before" he smiled.

Before I knew it, it was already midnight. It was time for the last dance.

"You should go. Who knows, the person you're destined to be with, might be one of the ladies. They've been waiting for you the whole time" I smiled at him.

Before I could react, the lights turned off and I was already running. It was after a few minutes that we stopped, when we knew we were already far enough from the venue. I let myself catch my breath before asking what the hell he was doing.

"What was that?" I asked, still bewildered by what had happened.

"I'm not good at dancing so I escaped. Sorry for dragging you into this" he apologised.

"It's okay. Are you alright? You're getting redder by the minute" I asked.

It was true. He was getting red and he looked like he had trouble with catching his breath. I walked closer to him and started patting his back.

"Let's get you to rest. I'll find an empty room" I said.

It was a good thing there was an empty room near us. It was quite near, perhaps 8 rooms away from William's chamber. I opened the door and thanked God it wasn't locked and let Vincent lay down on the bed. I let the lights off but it wasn't dark since the curtain was open and it let the moonlight enter the room.

"I'll let his highness know that you're staying for the night. You should get some rest" I said before standing up.

"Thank you. Do you want to sleep with me?" he asked intensely.

"Pardon?" I asked incase if I heard wrong.

"I'd be comfortable if I have someone else beside me" he replied.

I shook my head.

"I'm sorry but I would have to go. His highness must be looking for me" I declined politely.

"You sure are a nice girl" he replied.

"I'm not that nice. I'm just doing what else would have done if they saw you in that state" I replied.

Before I could leave, he gave me something that I couldn't resist.

Temptation.

His words were like the devil. Quite opposite of what he was or what his powers were.

"Should I grant you a wish?" he asked me.

"I'll give you two days to think about it" he said before I closed the door.
