His side

She never betrayed him

This sentence kept echoing in his mind. What had he done? He remembered arriving early and entering the home, thinking about his work. He had to work hard to get that promotion. He was surprised to see the decoration and his favorite food on the table. It was not his birthday and he was sure that it was not hers either. So what's with the decoration? Wasting money like that, he needed to have a talk with her.

He was irritated and continued to look around. It was then that he heard something. He could faintly make out the low groans of pleasure amongst the music. He also heard Shirley's voice as if she was calling a lover. He made his way to the room in anger and came to a stop at the door. He could hear the muffled voices and his blood boiled.

She was cheating on him.

Without waiting for anything, he had stormed off the house. He drove until he found a bar and then started to drink. He drank and then paid for a stripper. With her and more alcohol, he left for his home. He had thought to bring her back to her place and show off in front of her but then decided to cancel on that thought. So he arrived at his place.

He wanted to lose himself in Maggie. He did not think about anything else. After reaching home, they drank and finished off the remaining bottles. Then he took her to his bed, the same bed that he shared with Shirley until now. He fucked her to sleep and when he woke up he had sex with her again. This cycle continued until he was exhausted and could not get up.

He did not feel any guilt. In his mind, he was justifying his actions as- she was first to cheat on him. There was no need for him to hold back. He was only paying her back. He even felt pleasure doing all that. He had envisioned her hurt expressions and found joy in that. Never once did he think that he might have misunderstood. He was in a hurry to place all the blame on her.

He did not give a second thought and declared that she was having an affair. He did not confront her. Why? Because he did not want to see her with another man, he knew that it was only half-truth. His guilty conscience knew the full truth.
