Chapter 3

Chu Xuan circulated the spiritual energy in his body according to the cultivation technique provided to every disciple in the Azure Dragon school.

Chu Xuan had realised that the cultivation techniques weren't divided according to the quality of the energy refined in the body, all cultivation techniques even including the upper realm had the same level of energy refining quality as the lower realms. The only difference in the clan specific cultivation techniques and general techniques was that the specialised techniques gave extra attributes to the energy of the cultivator like increasing the sharpness of energy in case of a sword cultivation manual and the increase in coldness of energy in case of an ice attribute technique.

The technique of Azure dragon school was of the most generous type but being generic it could be cultivated by anyone no matter how obscure their energy type may be. This was good news for Chu Xuan as his energy had taken the void attribute of space and swallowing thus it would be almost impossible to find a technique which focused on the two attributes.

He continued his cultivation for a while and brought his cultivation to the peak of the 2nd level of spirit realm. He could break through to third level anytime he wanted to. He decided to go meet Chu Feng to see how he was faring after the lightning attack. He decided to hide his cultivation level so he wouldn't stand out. Not even an heaven realm cultivator could discern his cultivation level if he didn't want them to as he had almost perfect control on the energy in his body.

He proceeded to Chu Feng's residence in the outer court to see how he was doing.

Chu Xuan saw him just outside his residence, it seemed like he was just coming out of it. Chu Xuan could feel that Chu Feng had just broken through the 2nd level after being struck by the seven coloured lightning.

"Chu Feng did you break through?" He asked as he got closer to Chu Feng.

"I did, it was a lucky breakthrough" Chu Feng replied vaguely.

"That's good you should be able to become an inner disciple soon once you reach the 3rd level. Take care of me once you do become one ok, brother" he said humorously

Chu Feng, playing along, replied "Sure, this great brother will take care of you once he becomes an unparalleled genius so you can bask in my light"

Hearing what Chu Feng had said Chu Xuan didn't know what he should do, he didn't age enough power or influence to increase Chu Feng's cultivation as the resources it would take were not in his reach, so he decided that when the events of the novel started only then would he advance to the inner court so that Chu Feng would not be oppressed in the outer court as much as he was in the novel.

Some pressure was still necessary as it would help him refine his mental state and make it stronger. His divine body being of the space and swelling attribute didn't actually need much energy in the early stages of cultivation as in the later stages when he would need to awaken it so he could stay i the outer court and not still increase his cultivation efficiently.

Returning to reality he could see that Chu Feng was making a tale in how he would become the greatest cultivator in the azure province. He wished Chu Feng good luck for his 'adventures' and bode farewell to him after talking for a while about how he was doing. He knew that the next 5 years would not be easy for Chu Feng but that would make the base for his accomplishments in the end.

After returning to his residence he decided to activate his divine body to check the increase it gave to his combat abilities. He instinctively knew how to activate it and when he did his body was covered by a layer of shining black energy about a centimetre higher from his skin, he checked to see if he could make the energy invisible while keeping its protection. After a while he managed to keep a paper thin layer of energy which while would only block a single blow from one who was as strong as he was , still gave adequate protection and decided to keep it up at all time so he could make it an instinct of his body rather than something he needed to focus on.

He experimented for a while and realised that he could create a shield that would absorb the energy from the attacks of the opponent and convert into his own as well as make his body intangible by having it in the middle of his personal space created by his divine body and the real body. The technique needed a lot of energy and 1 minute was his limit right now but that would improves his his cultivation.( Imagine kamui from Naruto but without the teleportation and red eyes.)

He was satisfied with it as his divine body was still unawakened, he could only imagine how strong it would become when it does awaken.He could also blink for short distances as long as he had it in his sight and had enough energy to teleport. It needed half of his current reserves to teleport for 10 meters so it wasn't very useful to him right now and thus he didn't focus on it much. It was a skill he could only do when he had reached heaven realm at the very least so as to have enough energy for a long distance teleportation.

After completing the examination of his abilities he saw that the sun had long since set down and the sky was now covered in the darkness of the stars and the numerous twinkling stars.

He decided to go to sleep and start his new plans form tomorrow.
