The doofus
Kaname found Rin sitting at Kakashi's bed in a medical tent, the teen eyes were red from her shed tears.
Kaname walked towards the girl and hugged her very tightly.
"I'm sorry, Kana-chan. Everything that could, went wrong *Sniff*, when a landslide hit us-" Rin was interrupted.
"I'm a failure of a jōnin. Why, just why didn't Obito listen to my orders? I commanded him to run to the exit." Kakashi murmured deliriously.
"You really don't know? *Sigh* Kakashi you are denser than I thought. Do you think he thought of you only as his rival?... Moron, I order you to think about it." Kaname answered him.
"You can't order me, you aren't my superior."
"In this tent? Yes, I am, deal with it. So what has happened, Rin-chan?"
"When Obito finally acquired his Sharingan, the entire cave dropped on our heads. We tried to run out of there. Kakashi-kun was hit in the back of his head by a stone. *Sniff* Obito seeing him falling down caught Kakashi-kun and threw him my way, at the same time big boulder crushed half of his body *Sniff*."
Kaname hugged Rin as her friend was on the verge of tears.
"*Shh* Why does Kakashi have one of my foster brother's eyes?"
"Obito forgot to give him a gift for the jōnin promotion. He knew that he was dying, and asked me to replace Kakashi-kun's damaged eye with his intact left Sharingan. I transplanted it the way you showed me."
"And you still don't understand why he saved you, Kakashi?"
"He should have listened to orde-"
*Bonk*
"MORON! Do you remember what Obito's motto was, you imbecile?! Those in the ninja world who break the rules and are trash, but those who leave their own companions are worse than trash! He was your friend, you doofus!" Kaname yelled at him with tears in her eyes. (AN: Naruto ch 242)
Kakashi was rooted to the spot after hearing the same words Obito spoke to him two days ago.
"*Sigh* I… I know, it's hard for me to accept it. But I know, and it's just… Fuck... I'm really sorry, I couldn't save him." Kakashi apologized, seeing two teens hugging each other, his brown-haired teammate silently crying to the arm of her friend, the silver-haired jōnin never saw Rin being broken down so much.
"He saved your life and gave you a powerful gift, don't waste it," Kaname said.
"I won't, I promise."
"Rin-chan, come with me, I need to check with my friends. It should help you keep your thoughts away from yesterday. You doofus stay in bed, I will check Rin-chan's work in an hour."

Kaname found her friends under a tree, resting and watching clouds, she and Rin sat next to them.
"I see something bad has happened, can you tell us?" Takeshi greeted the girls, after seeing Rin purple cheek markings destroyed by the tears.
"The good news: I was promoted to tokubetsu jōnin, bow down to me pleb!" Kaname tried to lighten up the atmosphere.
"And the bad news?" Misa knew that Kaname is hiding something.
"*Sigh* Not now, I'll tell you later," Kaname turned her head sideways.
"Okay, Kana-chan, you owe me one spar," Anko replied.
"Eh? What for?"
"You knocked the shit out of me yesterday. And I feel like kicking your shapely ass. If I defeat you in a duel, will I become a tokubetsu jōnin as well?"
"I doubt it works this way. But I will never say no to a spar, lead the way." Kaname answered.
"So? What happened?" Anko asked Kaname when they were out of the hearing range of their friends.
"... Obito-kun is dead," Kaname whispered, from the corner of her eye, she noticed Maki's head instantly snapping towards her, Inuzuka's eyes were grieving.
"Fuck… Are you alright?"
"No, but I'm holding the tears back for Rin-chan. She needs someone to talk to now."
"*Sigh* Okay, let's make a show for them, maybe it will keep her focus on the fight instead."
"Thank you, Anko," Kaname nodded, readying herself for combat.

After five minutes of Kaname countering every attack that Anko sent at her, the snake mistress had enough, with a couple of hand seals, with a big cloud of smoke she summoned a Hokage's tower-sized blue snake.
"No more holding back, Kana!"
"Make me," Kaname shrugged, dodging the charge of the big snake. While pirouetting in the air, she noticed her older helper, Nonō, talking with her friends, and waving for her to come back.
"Okay, Anko, I have work to do," Kaname stated. The summoned reptile charged again at her, but it stopped a hair-breath away from Kaname's face.
Anko noticed Kaname flashing her Sharingan only for a brief moment. "What has happened, why the snake isn't moving?" she inquired.
"I'm sorry, I need to go. I put your toy under genjutsu, have fun!" Kaname said, jumping away.
"That's cheating! Get back her- WOAH!" Anko shouted out when her own summon charged back at her.
"Hello, Kaname-san. If it's not too much problem, I need your help in the medic tent." blonde-woman said.
"Sure thing, I was heading there either way."
"Eto… Kana-chan, will Anko be alright? It looks like she is barely surviving the onslaught." Misa asked.
"Hehe, don't worry Misa, when she clears her head to think for a moment, she will just unsummon the snake."

"So what's up, Doofus-kun? Cleared your head a little?" After Kaname made rounds around the most wounded patients, she returned to Kakashi.
"Don't call me that."
"Yeah, whatever you say, Doofus-kun, I will now put you under. I need to check Rin-chan's work."
"*Sigh* It's like I'm talking with Obito all over again… Do what you must."
Kakashi woke up ten minutes later.
"I have got good and bad news for you. I will start with the good one, Obito's Sharingan was almost perfectly transplanted, you will be able to use it in its full capacity without any complications."
"Okay, and what's bad?"
"You're not an Uchiha."
"Wow, really? How did you guess that?"
"You don't understand, Doofus-kun. We Uchiha's and Hyuga's have got special chakra pathways leading from our brain to our eyes. Those pathways give us much better control over the chakra in our eyes. In simpler terms, you will not be able to deactivate Obito's Sharingan ever again. It will bleed out your chakra reserves. In my opinion, you have three possibilities: firstly, you can just die."
"Hey!" the teen shouted out, outraged.
"When your chakra depletes, Sharingan will try to draw more of it from any other energy source it can, most likely - your heart. Secondly, I can take the eye out. It will make you blind in one eye, but it's better than the first choice. There is also a third option, I can make you a blindfold with a personalized seal, it will deactivate the Sharingan as long as the blindfold is over it."
"Did you even give me a choice, Kaname-san?"
"No, not really. I will prepare it for you this afternoon. For now, keep your left eye closed. I will prepare a seal for you and take a nap, see you later."
"I see… Thank you, Kaname-san."
"Hmm, no problem Doofus-kun."
After giving Kakashi his forehead protector with a small engraved seal on it's back, Kaname went to her bed to cry her tears out.

The next day Kaname was woken up when someone was calling her name. She was to meet with Minato and Orochimaru as soon as possible in the commanding tent. Minato's face was still full of sorrow and guilt, he greeted her with a shadow of a smile.
"Hello, Kana-chan. This time I have two good news for you."
"Okay, that's better than last time, shoot away Minato-san."
"For the first part of the good news, I and Orochimaru-san as of two hours ago are candidates for a seat as the fourth Hokages'" he continued.
"And both of uss~, think you would make a nice addition to Hokage's Guard Platoon, do you believe yoursself~ ready, Kana-chan?" Orochimaru asked.
"Wow, congrats- Wait, A WHAT?! I doubt I'm ready to protect a Hokage."
"You wouldn't join the Guard Platoon instantly, the chosen Hokage would train you until he thinks you're ready," Minato explained.
"Training from a future Hokage? Yeah, I'm in. So it doesn't matter which one of you will become the next Hokage, I will have to join Hokage's Guard Platoon either way?" Kaname questioned.
"Yess~, my little Kana-chan," Orochimaru hissed his answer.
"Cool. And what's the last part of the news, I mean, you just made my day, I doubt it couldn't get any better."
"Fufufu, you don't know what you're talking about, Kana-chan."
"Both of us are leaving today to travel to Iwagakure as Hokage-sama's escorts to sign the peace treaty. Kumogakure, without its allies, will also sign the armistice the following day. Excluding the silent eastern front with Kirigakure, the war is effectively over."
