Chapter 6 The battle

Xerx ordered his army to get in formation.

The enemy his army consisted of these groups of species.

Frogs, crocodiles, leeches, toads sparrows, snakes, adders, bees, wasp, carps, eels, owls, hedgehogs, wolf's, otters. Beavers and Many more.

Before they could arrive at the wall Xerx army began attacking.

The bee and wasp colonies began dropping dark stone Boulders and clay Boulders made by Xerx his rats on the army.

They were protected by a legion of birds who were mounted by rats, hedgehogs, mice, and others that knew magic.

The rats consisted of dark ice stalkers, three-headed elements rats, acid-spewing rats, and many others.

As for the reason they mounted the birds were

Protecting the bees and wasp but also attacking the ground units from the air.

And shooting at the flying enemies so that they must land.

Even the birds that knew magic did the same.

Those that didn't know magic dropped dark stone boulders like the bees.

Some of the bees were also mounted not by rats or other magic-using animals.

But by froglings, squirrel-kin, toadlings and all kinds of different humanoids dressed in armor.

Most are using swords, spears, Halberts, and shields.

They served as mounted Knights while a small portion was equipped with bows and wands.

Serving as archers and mages killing the creatures that our knights can't handle from a save distance.

The ground force was divided into different groups.

group one was defending the village from those that slipped through the other groups. And protecting the young one's group one stayed in the village while patrolling.

Group two were archers and magic users who stayed on the walls shooting those who come near.

Group three and four were the main ground army they fought on the front lines.

Then there was group five that was led by Xerx it was a special group of all kinds of mounted animals.

for example by froglings.,Toadlings, Even some hedge-kin.

Group five purpose is to stack the enemy while helping the ones who can't keep up.

But that where not al forces there was one hidden force the underground force.

They were supposed to attack from under the ground and save the injured.

But back to Xerx, he was piecing the enemy while leading the army.

Xerx became quickly the main target and was surrounded by enemies.

He ordered his group to help others and stay so far away as possible.

When they were gone he switched for piercing to slashing anyone who came in his way.

Xia did the same with its claws while devouring any creature small enough in one bite

As the sun began to rise the battle came to an end.

Xerx ordered everyone to gather inside the center of the village.

As everyone was gathered Xerx began his speech.

Everyone we did it we defended our home.

But it came at a cost the ones we lost will be remembered for years to come.

My condolences to the family members.

We Wil bury them and I Wil make sure they aren't forgotten.

As he finished his speech everyone began making noise and letting Xerx know they will be staying.

Xerx called Leo after everyone was gone and said to deliver a letter containing his report to the commander.

And answer any questions the commander has.

As Leo got on his Xerx began to expand the village and even expand the outpost.

As the villagers saw him working they began to help.

The first thing they worked on is making more houses for everyone to live.

they even had to begin building outside the walls so he began making a second wall only ten times the size of the first.

Inside the wall, they made farmlands, lakes, parks, even a second warehouse.

As they finished the village they began with the outpost making it 20 times bigger.

They even had enough people to work on building the second village.

As the sun began to set they were halfway done with the second village.

The villagers got to their new homes to sleep. Xerx began training his skills because he felt he was too weak.

The whole night he trained himself.

As everyone got up they saw Xerx still training.

And got motivated to join as Xerx was almost done for today.

The whole village had joined even the kids.

Xerx felt proud of them even getting a bit emotional.

After training, they again began working on building the second village.

While working Xerx wondered why the commander hadn't arrived yet.

An hour before sunset he heard the sound of horses.

The commander had arrived with Leo and a whole legion full of people.

He welcomed the commander and asked why there are so many people with him.

The commander began explaining.

Hello Xerx after reading your report I immediately ran to my superior.

And they began discussing how they should reward you.

Because the report was out of their expectations.

You were supposed to be only training your rats and maybe make the foundation for the village in the first week.

But you really Exaggerated the village I am a bit underwhelmed.

At which Xerx cut in and said.

Sorry that I talk without permission but I must stop you there.

This isn't the village from the report this is already the second one.

The village in the report is a bit farther in the forest.

To which the commander said while looking surprised.

You mean this isn't the village but a second one.

Lead me to the first village and the outpost.

Xerx began leading them to Ratsburg.

As they arrived the villagers greeted them.

The commander wanted to draw his sword but was stopped by Xerx.

He began to explain that they are the villagers he talked about in the reports.

And gave a tour through Ratsburg while answering all the questions they had.

The commander asked about the battle while walking to the outpost.

As they arrived he asked Xerx to talk to him alone.

They got to a room inside the outpost and as the door closed the commander began talking.

Xerx I am sorry but I can't give you your rewards it won't be fair we underestimated you.

Because of that, you need to come with me to meet my superior tomorrow.

I hope you agree because what you have done is what we expected in a year's time.

Xerx immediately accepted and offered the commander a room for tonight.

And began getting ready for tomorrow.
