MY BOYFRIEND...

Arianna stared at her mom with furrowed brows.

"Made up? What do you mean?",she asked, confused.

"Come in! Come inside, you two!" Dianna invited them in and waited for them to take a sit before she continued. "That time when you went to me crying your eyes out, wasn't it because you were quarrelling?", Dianna recalled seeing her dear daughter very much devastated that time. Carl said something happened to her boyfriend, and that's why she was grieving, but it wasn't normal to not see Yago around her, more so during such a hard time, so she gathered they were fighting or something.

Arianna lowered her head as she remembered those times. She inched closer to Dianna and leaned on her shoulder.

"Mom, I told you it has nothing to do with brother. My boyfriend met with an accident and passed away. It's the truth. I didn't fight with brother. You know how much Yago doted on me. He would never fall out with me..." Arianna reassured her mom with a bitter smile. In her heart, every word was true. Yago was the best. He treated her the best.

Watching on the side, the corners of Yago's lips raised. Hearing those words from Rian, his heart felt warm. 'My boyfriend', she said. So Arianna considered him as her boyfriend, huh? It's good, too that she knows how much he cared for her. And although her heart broke when she first heard about his death, knowing that she has finally realized her feelings for him made Yago feel ecstatic. The extent of how Arianna cared for him was something beyond his expectation.

"Then Yago," Dianna lifted her head to look at the young man who has been quiet this whole time. "Where were you before? Why didn't you accompany your sister?" she probed.

Arianna became worried. What would Vier say? He didn't know anything about them. She must come up with something to cover up Yago's disappearance! Just when she was about to open up her mouth, she heard Yago clear his throat. She instinctively turned to him as worry overcame her much more.

"Mom, for me, you're like my mother. But I'm very sorry that I can't treat Arianna as a real sister. Your daughter avoided me because of this."

Arianna's face was full of confusion. She can't understand what Vier was talking about. Was it really necessary to make some complicated excuse? Meanwhile, Dianna's face was a bit sad. She nodded her head as she was enlightened.

"So it was like that? I already noticed it before. I just didn't expect the both of you to fall out because of this. I thought Arianna would like you, too. But she fell in love with someone else instead." she said as she pieced everything together. She then turned to Arianna and held her hands. "Why didn't you mention before that Yago confessed to you? He was very good to you, Yanyan. Can't you give him a chance to prove his heart to you? Your father told me your renowned engagement is not real. You're pretty much single right now, yes?" Dianna asked with a bright smile.

The corner of Arianna's mouth twitched. What mess was Vier creating for her? He was very good at spouting nonsense, huh? She couldn't think of something to refute all this. She can only keep her mouth shut as she glared at Vier who was smiling victoriously at her. Was the guy showing off or something? So irritating.

"When both of you were younger, I noticed that Yago treated you especially well. I knew he would develop this kind of feelings for you later but I thought it would be mutual as you depended on him so much in the past." Dianna recalled. "Don't you have any special feelings for Yago?"

"Mom... I like Yago but... "

but Yago is gone. She wasn't able to finish that sentence as she stopped herself from revealing her secrets. Inside her chest, it was like something big was stuck. It's pressing against her heart and also her lungs.

Yago sighed. Listening to this conversation, it was like he was a ghost eavesdropping on the mother and daughter pair. He stood up and cleared his throat to catch their attention, and both women reflexively turned to him.

"Mom, please persuade Rian to stay overnight. I asked my chefs to prepare a festive dinner to celebrate her birthday. I hope she can join us tonight." He said before leaving the room to give the women some alone time. Ah... it's so awkward to just watch them like a bystander. Being Vier sure was tiring.

"Yago sure likes you a lot." Dianna stated as she smiled teasingly.

Arianna raised her brows at her mother.

"Mom, I thought you wouldn't approve of this scandalous kind of relationship! You're really something else."

"What do you mean scandalous? You aren't blood related at all!"

"He was an Evans." she replied.

"And so? What does that prove? He's an Evans. Your a Reid. And now he has the option to change back his surname to dela Vega. It's just a matter of whether you like him or not."

Dianna's explanation made Arianna both silence and teary. It wasn't that simple. She really wished things were as they were before, but right now Yago is gone. It's not just a matter of whether she likes him or not anymore. She already lost all options. And there's no turning back.

Seeing the sadness in her daughter's eyes, Dianna was about to comfort her when Arianna's phone suddenly rang. She watched as Arianna picked it up and walked a couple of meters distance away from her to answer the call. Such a stubborn child. She still hasn't change though she looks all grown up now!

"I'm sorry Jayden. I'm on a business trip and I can't make it back for tonight's dinner." Arianna made up an excuse.

"Well, that's really sad to hear. I really wanted to be with you tonight and celebrate your birthday together..."

Jayden's voice was laced with disappointment, but Arianna wasn't moved at all. "I guess I'll just cancel tonight's reservations then."

Arianna thanked Jayden and then hung up. She then dialled Viper's number.

"Viper, I have a mission for you tonight..."she announced with a cold smile.
