She woke up early and called the girls to check if they're already up. It's just six in the morning and she already showered. She loves to sleep but she has discipline, a professional. She would shoot up straight once she hears her alarm. She doesn't linger in bed after it rings. She like to start things early so she could accomplish many things within the day or at least rest and relax early. She see to it that she does this routine to avoid stressing over undone things later. Like some of her friends. When they forgot to do something or unhappy about their work, they'll fret and stress about it. So, she helps them to keep on track. To have a checklist and to see to it that they are checking off something from that list. Or else, she would also suffer, especially her ears.
She wore a blue dress with short sleeves and a collar. It has a black lace ribbon designed on the neck. Like all her dress, its length is just above the knee. She paired it with black closed heels that has a golden outline. She curled her hair and put some hairpins on both sides of her head. She finished her look with a black coat since she do not want her arms exposed.
When she arrived in school, she left her things in her locker since its closer compared to the Student Council Office aside from her makeup pouch. She went straight to the Auditorium where the General Assembly will take place.
She inspected the venue thoroughly. The Auditorium can fit three thousand people but that cannot fit everyone. Their University has grown into twenty thousand students in all levels and courses for the past three years as it became popular so there is a current expansion of the amphitheater to hold more activities and so more students can participate. The field has been enlarged too to accommodate simultaneous games and sports.
She saw that various booths of clubs and organizations are already opened. The officers actually started putting up their booths yesterday. All courses have their own clubs. It is managed by each course so officers can come from different Year levels.
However, a student can join no maximum number of clubs as long as he or she can stay as an active member. Each club has their own booklet that contains the club rules, a list of officers and members. It also contains a matrix that shows the activity, date and the student's signature. Each activity has a designated space where the club officers can stamp to verify that the booklet holder attended the said activity. At the end of each semester, it will be calculated by club officers to see if the students has been cleared. So if you cannot commit to the club, don't join. That simple.
Some students smiled at her as she passed by their booths. She walked to an unfinished booth. Some of their excess materials are still scattered on the floor.
"Hi, please make sure to clean everything, alright?" She said to the officer who was still working on the booth.
She looked at me and to the mess at the floor and shyly responded, "Yes. We will take care of it. Just finishing this one."
"Okay. Thank you and good luck!" she cheered and gave her a thumbs up.
She remembered when she was a freshman. At first, most students were skeptical from her running as a President of the Student Council. She was new, and no experience. She is also a first year student. But when they heard her spoke about her plans not just for their club but for all the students of the university, they were amazed. She made a history as the first freshman who won as the Student Council President.
Among the new organizations she piloted are yoga and zumba classes, Nature First, United and more. Nature first is directed in all activities that helps rehabilitate nature while United is a volunteer group that conduct activities dedicated to help the urban poor, mostly out of school youth and children who cannot afford education.
She dedicated all her time in planning and implementing projects that will improve the lives of students in the campus. While doing so, they are also helping others along the way. She just started her legacy and she plans to continue this until she graduate, president or not.
Her friends are always there to support her so she's really grateful to them. This is their second year together so she promise it will only get better. But of course, she wants to have fun as well.
All the other clubs are scattered all over the campus. Students who are manning their booths will listen and watch through the University App named, Vanderbuilt, which she also created with the help of the IT Club.
She dropped by at the registration booth and greeted the students there.
"Hello, guys. Is everything okay?" She asked.
"Yes, Andi. Thanks for asking," one student replied with a smile.
"Good. Did you guys had breakfast?" She decided to sit down at one of the chairs.
"Yes, we simultaneously ate our breakfast. How about you?" Asked River who just arrived from somewhere.
The cafeteria is still closed and she didn't bother bringing breakfast to school because of too much thinking. She doesn't know what to eat so she doesn't want to waste time thinking of it at home. She just realized she's hungry now after checking everything.
"Nope. River, I'm so hungry," she looked at him with puppy eyes while patting her stomach.
"Why didn't you eat, idiot. I bet you woke up so early. It's past eight. What time did you wake up?" He asked with a hint of worry in his eyes.
She looked at her wristwatch, "I think about four a.m.?" She looked at him and smiled sourly. She thought of her acid reflux. Oh no... I hope I won't vomit not having anything.
"You, idiot. Don't do anything if you haven't eaten something." River muttered between his teeth.
She remained silent. She started tapping on her tablet to divert her hunger. But the sound of her stomach gave her away. The students chuckled at her stomach grumbling.
"Well, I can get you something if you like," she heard River spoke after a while. "But you have to eat fast. The Assembly will start in thirty minutes," he added.
And just like that her whole world lighted up and River saw how her face brightened. He smiled. He stood up but she clearly heard him said, "idiot." for the third time in less than three minutes.
River walked farther away from them while dialing his phone.
"Hey, Zach. I need you to bring me breakfast asap. Bring it to the registration area by the Auditorium. Got it?" He didn't wait for the other line to respond, instead he continued, "Andi has not eaten yet.Be here in ten minutes." Then he hung up.
On the other line, Zach froze for a while then smiled widely as the thought of what River said sank in. He went straight to the Auditorium as River told and handed him his breakfast. He was supposed to eat it but he was looking for a place but didn't find any. He was about to return to his car and eat there when River called. He'll just wait for the cafeteria to open.
Andi is eating while the students line up for registration. River is taking the lead as usual. He always position himself there to attract students and recruit them in joining clubs. He is the current Internal Vice-President and very popular among girls. He's not just handsome, he's smart, friendly and approachable too.
She wondered where he got the food. She's still munching at it when she heard a familiar voice. She looked up and locked eyes with Zach. She forgot to close her mouth. 'Damn, his blue eyes are so hot. I think I'm full.'
"Good morning, Andi," he greeted and smiled at us. She cleared her throat to answer but wasn't able to. She heard the others respond to him, "Good morning! " So she just smiled. 'What the heck. He didn't greet me. He greeted everyone. He didn't mentioned my name. What am I hearing. I need more food.'
He signed his name and left. He didn't bother to look at me. 'Did he bump his head and came to his senses?' Why did she felt something at his indifference? 'Hmp. I don't care. I'm enjoying my food.'
She finished her food and excused herself. She went to the comfort room to brush her teeth and retouch her makeup.
When she was about to leave, her path was blocked by some students. 'Oh no. The program is about to start.' She inwardly panicked.
