Chapter Thirty-Three: Completion

As Alice flew over what would be Russia on Earth, she looked at every cloud and flew through a few of them.

She found one cloud after landing in a frozen wasteland. It didn't move, or shift its shape. Alice stared at it for a few moments before flying into it.

She stood before a massive semi-transparent spiraling staircase which led into the great beyond, and found that she couldn't use her wings to ascend, so she began to climb.

She climb up the stairs for hours before staring up and seeing she made little progress. It seemed like the stairs were replicating themselves.

'What the hell is going on?' Alice thought. She pushed her hand against one of the stairs and found it to be completely solid, unlike when she began. 'Is it slowly becoming an actual staircase?'

Alice took a deep breath and continued to climb.

After what seemed like days of climbing, she finally reached a gate. She saw its engravings and felt a sadness radiate from behind it.

She grabbed the gate with with both hands and tried using 'Petrification' on it.

The gate slowly turned to stone, before stopping halfway. Alice used it again, but nothing happened.

She placed one hand on the stone part of the gate. 'Explosion'

The explosion only caused a slight crack in the stones

"Hmm." Alice placed both hands on it and consecutively used 'Explosion' and 'Corrosive Smoke' to destroy the stone.

It took a while, but the gate finally collapsed, allowing Alice to step through. When she did, she saw a never ending flawless landscape, with a thousands of houses and some buildings resembling the Parthenon.

A figure in a tight brown robe strolled around with a hood completely covering its face, and rags of cloth coming off of it.

Alice flew down to the figure, who immediately snapped its fingers, making the landscape disappear.

'What the hell?' She thought.

"What the hell indeed, Arthur Williams." The figure said. It pulled out a book as it began to write.

"Where did you get that name from?" She asked it.

The figure looked up at her as he pointed to the book. "I wrote it millions of years ago in this book. Just like I wrote an ending for this book."

Alice tilted her head as they both stood in the empty space. "An ending?"

The figure nodded as its hood disappeared. "I wrote that eventually, I'd destroy all my creations. Warden didn't like that, so he locked me up. I didn't like that, so I killed him. Now, I'm going to kill you."

"What do-" Before she could finish speaking, Alice began to cough up blood.

"You see Alice, you were always a character in a story I made up. An existence that existed only for a story. Once the story ends, you will too. You can't stop me from ending what belongs to me."

Alice's vision began to blur. "I know it's confusing and maybe scary, but it'll be ok. A new story will begin in your place. Eventually."

Alice felt unlike the first time she was in the void. She felt her memories disappearing, her body falling apart.

"After all that, just for it..." the last spec of light in her form disappeared. '...to end like this?'

'No!' Alice broke the last bit of her consciousness off of her and somehow survived the ensuing destruction of any and all things.

After Alice faded away, every universe and every being did the same.
