A Year After

A year has passed and as expected, I studied in Paris and took architecture as my new major. This past year has been normal and uneventful. I studied diligently and worked hard for my new goal and that is to become an architect.

My time in Paris was great. I have become close friends with Franz and also Shiki was always with me where ever I go, and many people had mistaken him for my boyfriend because of that.

Shiki came in a disguise of a young fine arts student and painting was his forte.

I was currently in his appartment eating the ice cream I bought. Shiki was by the window painting the Eiffel Tower that was seen in a distance.

"I thought being a painter is just a disguise." I said while licking the spoon with ice cream. "But all your paintings are beautiful."

Shiki's appartment was filled with paintings that he has done in disguise as a painter. There were stacks of frames and canvases littering the hall ways. He maybe in disguise but he really does have talent. But I am also sceptical, being him as a death god maybe comes with such perks like he can do any talents he thinks of with his powers.

"Well while I am in character might as well play the role." Shiki replied nonchalantly.

Being together with Shiki this past year let me get to know him a little. He was aloof and always seemed cold to others. But he was caring and considerate towards me while still maintaining his indifferent attitude.

Out of no where, Shiki's mouth grabbed the spoon with the ice cream I was holding.

"H-Hey...t-that's mine." I felt embarrassed in an instant.

"Aren't you a meany. Coming here eating ice cream in front of me." Shiki said while licking the ice cream on his lips.

With his good looks and that action just now was a fatal combo. Any woman will be KOed after seeing that. As for me, I felt my cheeks become hotter and my heart was thumping fast.

"Y-You didn't need to eat from my spoon you know!" I yelled. "I bought you one as well. Eating from my spoon felt like an i-indirect..." I wasn't able to say the term 'indirect kiss'.

"If you bought me some, then why not give it to me?" Shiki asked with an outstretched hand. He was still maintaining his indifferent face.

"Well you were busy, how can I give it to you. Sheesh." I said while pouting my lips. I gave him the ice cream I bought for him.

This man was indifferent and cold but still many women fall for him in campus. Well such attitude is also a magnet and with that looks, I can't blame those women that fall for him.

But I know who he really was, he was a death god. He was not a human being and of course Shiki doesn't care about all the women that cried for him after he turned them down flat.

I see Shiki eating the ice cream that I gave him and I smiled.

"Hey Shiki, I bought the return ticket home just this morning." I said.

"Hmm, about time." Shiki was engrossed with the ice cream he was eating.

"I will be going back by this weekend." I said. Shiki just nodded. "What are you going to do?" I asked in curiosity.

I know that once I come back to my home city, I will be doing the missions Shiki had mentioned. I am still curious of what that missions will be but this is my debt to pay for the new life given to me.

"Of course I will be coming with you." Shiki replied. He just finished his ice cream and put down the empty cup on the table.

"Oh, but how?" I am rather curious of his way of living now.

Shiki was studying, eating, drinking, paying rent and other stuff a normal person would do. I was rather curious where he gets the money. I didn't see him work like other students does to earn money. When we go back to my home citt, I am rather curious what disguise will he be doning.

"You will know once you come back." Shiki looked at me. "How about you, are you okay?"

"Okay with what?" I asked.

Shiki leaned closer to me. Our face were so close to each other.

'S-So close.' I was alarmed.

"Are you ready to see him again, Jeremy." Shiki asked nonchalantly.

Hearing Jeremy's name after so long felt nostalgic. Here in Paris, no one mentions him. Even if my friends from home and my parents call, they never mentioned his name.

"I guess I can live with it." I smiled.

I think I can face Jeremy again now. I have started a whole new life, a different me without him being the center. I am sure I can look at him proud of who I am now.

Shiki flicked his finger in my forehead. "Aww..." I said while rubbing the sting.

"About time you stopped crying." Shiki stood up from his chair. "But I am afraid you have to face him many times once you go back home."

"And why is that?" I asked curiously.

"Because he should have been your soulmate." Shiki answered in a calm demeanor.

"What!" I shouted in disbelief.
