CHAPTER 119 THE CENTAURS ATTACK

Queen Marleigh sighs. She knows without further asking that her request will not be accepted and might even be taken as a provocation towards the Eligan Kingdom. She still needs their help; she does not want their relationship to sour.

They had already made a mistake that would have caused a war, she does not want to increase the tension between their two kingdoms, especially, after she senses the brief but oppressive aura that Shadow has released.

"I just want to ask if you can ask Vixen to forgive us for what transpired; she is an important friend to us and a great benefactor to many of our subjects." She doubles back on her request, knowing that her true desire will never come into fruition.

"I will try, but I do not control her; I let her be, as I do not treat her as a servant or a slave; she holds a very special place in my heart." Queen Marleigh is surprised by this; she inwardly sighs. She knows that foxes are loyal creatures, especially the males.

Unlike female foxes, which will find a mate if their previous one has encountered an unfortunate event, male foxes will die alone if their mate encounters an unfortunate event.

The enlightened, or those that managed to transform into their humanoid forms, are much more complex; the males are actually weaker than the females, and they can only serve as servants or part of the harem of the much more powerful female foxes.

They are forbidden to seek other relationships with other females, whatever their race may be; meanwhile, the females can gain more members for their harem if their strength or status is enough to sustain them.

"By the way, I suggest that your army start preparing immediately; it seems that our enemy is quickly reaching the predicted battlefield." Before she leaves, Queen Marleigh says this to him: she knows that the human kingdom puts importance on their elites; training the soldiers to their current level is very difficult for their race; the amount of resources that they had to consume is astronomical for them.

"Oh, this is a surprise; it seems that this attack is just a mere distraction; the centaurs are actually thinking of destroying two territories in just one attack; I thought that they were using our alliance as their training ground." Shadow looks in the direction of the enemy and cannot help but comment.

The allied army advances towards the location of the battlefield; all of them are raring to go. Even the soldiers from the Ten Thousand Snake Kingdom are excited; it seems that they are thinking of eating the bodies of the centaurs to purify their bloodlines.

As they watch their enemy come closer, their expression turns grim. The Goblin Kingdom's army is still travelling to their location; the Kobold Kingdom's army has already arrived, but their expression turns fearful.

The number of centaurs is much greater than they expected, not to mention that half of them are actually the elite force of their race, the light cavalry!

"Prepare the shield; the centaurs are definitely going to rain down their arrows at us." Seeing this, Shadow quickly commands his soldiers to put up their shield. Ban is watching from a distance; his responsibility is to take charge once the valley of arrows are released.

The soldiers from the other kingdoms see their reaction, and many of them follow their action, except for a couple of those in power.

Shadow approaches the general of the Harpy Kingdom. "General, I suggest that you hide within my soldiers; your army is not equipped to take such a powerful attack."

The harpy general nods his head. "On behalf of our kingdom, I thank you; we will take you up on your offer."

Without hesitation, he leads his army into the midst of the human army; this is the only method that their general can see to minimise the casualties of their army.

The commander of the great Centaur army seems to have said a command; immediately, the Centaurs aim their bows in the direction of the allied army.

Shadow chuckles, but his eyes are radiating intense killing intent. He wants to strike at the same time when the centaurs release their arrows.

Shoo! Shoo! Shoo! The sound of wind being pierced rings throughout the battlefield. The centaurs finally released their arrows; it is as if a rain of death is descending on the allied army.

THUNDER DRAGON BREATH!

Gathering the spiritual energy, mana, and thunder elements in the area, Shadow releases a powerful energy breath towards the incoming valley of arrows.

He disintegrated many of them but failed to destroy all of them. He cannot help but click his tongue, even though he did not truly use his entire strength in that attack. He was also not holding back that much.

He turns to his army and envelops them with his protective aura. Because of the number of soldiers that he buffed and the range of his buff, it is not that big, but this makes a lot of difference for his army.

Bang! Bang! Bang! It is as if the arrows were actually bombs; each time they land on the ground, an explosion will occur. The other allied forces are having difficulty surviving the attack, and the Tiger Army is using their powerful bodies, their sharp fangs, and their claws to defend.

Many of them are pierced by the arrows; their bodies are now riddled with injuries, and some of the human soldiers are healing them with some special and rare healing skills that they either received from the kingdom or learned from their teacher or family members.

The Kobold Army are now actually running away with tails behind their backs. Shadow has to act personally in order to protect many of them, and he cannot help but click his tongue once again.

The Fox Army is using their rare rune formation to create a barrier to protect themselves and some of their allies; their expression is pale, showing immense exhaustion.
