1898 Holiday
A burning meteor streaked overhead as I was on my way to one of my secret laboratories in the countryside. I immediately cast a charm to make myself invisible and rode the broom from my case to the direction that the meteor went to. The meteor struck a small hill in a pine covered area. The blast radius was more or less about twenty meters in diameter as can be seen from my high vantage point. It means that the meteoroid must be really small if there's any of it left at all. There usually aren't so fingers crossed. It lied there perfectly in a soil mound at the centre of the crater. It's... Its an egg of some kind filled to the brim with strange symbols making it look like a pocked design from a distance. I wrapped it in my old uniform and placed it inside my case. Well I tried to put it inside but it wouldn't go inside no matter what. So I brought it to my lab like that.
I immediately took the book about known creatures that lays eggs to see whether this egg is something that a known creature birthed but found nothing close having runes in an eggshell is quite strange. Runes aren't even a fully explored field of study. What sort of creature have birthed this egg?
Burning the egg. Check
Freezing the egg. Check
Coating the egg with blood from all sorts of creatures. Check
Rituals. Check
Forming a contract with the unhatched creature. Check
Hammer+Egg. Check (don't try this again)

Time flew very fast, after a series of testing done to the mysterious egg. I found almost nothing about how to hatch it except that it is indestructible and is capable of countering when attacked physically or magically. The holidays are over and so I decided to bring the egg with me to my laboratory in Durmstrang where I can further my research about the egg.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
All my attempts at hatching it failed.
I would make an omelette if it cracks open.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
I will have to travel a little, but I will return for the egg. Maybe I should bring it and make it act like a shield for me. Imagine the glory of that. 'The great Grindelwald carrying his egg all around Europe causing mayhem to the liberty of wizardkind'. Catchy.
Who am I kidding. Don't hatch without me little egg. I'll be back in a jiffy.

It was the last entry in the journal. A hundred years and he was unable to return. It was one of Grindelwald's greatest worries. His egg. In Durmstrang. It might hatch anytime.
There was a puzzled expression in Viktor's face as he went to a wall marked with an invisible marking and pushed it inward. Gears shifted and a small room opened revealing a pedestal made from marble and atop is an egg the size of a ball (basketball). Like how it was portrayed in the journal, there truly are magical runes in the eggshell but they did not appear random to Viktor. In fact it was very familiar to him, as he stood dazed while staring at the black and white egg in front of him with unfocused eyes.
...,.....,...,...
He was back in his old house from his last life.
He looked down and saw that he had entered his own memory.
"Happy birthday Vi!"
A middle aged man with blurry face looked directly at him, smiled, and came to hug his son. Viktor was surprised but took it as nothing more than a coincidence. How can a memory be aware of my existence?
"Daddy!"
The small Victor ran towards his father and tackled him into a hug. He rarely saw his father and his daily wish of spending time with him is finally granted on his special day so he is filled with joy.
"Hoho.... My boy you have grown quite heavy. Did you miss your daddy that much?"
Victor nodded his and hugged his daddy.
"Guess what I got for my little baby? Ta-da! Here. Open it."
His father put him down after giving him a boxed gift. Victor tore the wrappings with excitement and his eyes glittered from what he saw.
"An egg?"
Victor turned to his father with a quizzical expression. He's never seen an egg this large after all.
"Hehe no silly. This is a special puzzle I got from an old man I saved from a speeding truck. It's a puzzle. Look these symbols can move like this, and if you solve the puzzle something special will happen, we'll..... I really don't know, but that's what the old man said. I know how you love these puzzle things so I accepted it and planned to give it to you on your birthday. Hehe happy birthday! Give daddy a kiss.... Where's your mother?"
Victor's eyes grew round and he ran off towards the room upstairs while shouting.
"Mommy! Mommy! Daddy is back! Come quick! Come daddy is back! He's got me a present!"
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Tears are rolling down his face without his knowledge as he mumbled in confusion.
'Puzzle. My father. I can't remember his face anymore... My family.... My mother.... I can't....'
"What the...."
Viktor continued to approach, as he got close enough to the egg he disabled the defences installed by Gillert before reaching out to touch the egg.
Ting*
The egg turned black and the runes in its shell lit up in golden light when his skin contacted the egg. One by one, the runes arranged themselves into layers of rings. The ring of runes rotated rapidly starting from the rune on its tip. One symbol remained and enlarged while the others are erased. This continued until a single line of mystic runes is formed from the tip of the now black egg to its bottom. The runes quickly wiggled like a worm and slithered from the bottom of the eggshell. The shell dissolved as the line of runes passed by and in the end what was left was a floating line of runes.
With a swoosh, it was sucked into the middle of Viktor's forehead.
....,,....,.....
"Child. Can you hear me?"
A voice echoed inside his head.
"Yes. I can hear you old man. What do you want from me?"
Humph*
"Unfilial child! Do you wish to dishonor your ancestors!?"
There was a clear anger in the voice that was directly transmitted inside his head, like a grandfather who is dissatisfied with his grandchild he sounded almost like berating Viktor for his blatant disrespect.
"Old man. Don't give me that filial shi* coz I don't give a damn about it. You are invading my head without permission right now, so if you want respect then earn it from me. Explain to me why you are here, if you won't then prepare to be mind raped coz I will dig for answers myself!!!"
It resounded like a domineering king inside his castle hall that demands obedience from his subjects.
"Hahahaha. Kid, you are unbelievable. The last line of my blood. The chosen one. What happened to you? You are very dark in nature have you perhaps suffered greatly? That would be impossible..... "
The old man mumbled to himself with a pondering look and a frown in his forehead.
On the other hand.
This statement shocked Viktor to no end while thinking whether he is really talking to a Krum ancestor or a Draconov.
"Show yourself! Do you want to play hide and seek here inside my head? I promise you that it won't be as much fun as you thought."
Viktor was not afraid. Of all the defenses he's made, he had the most faith in the defenses he placed inside his head. If he was defeated in his own turf, then that's just how it is, the end, everyone eventually reaches an end, but Viktor wasn't going to depart without a fight.
"Fine. I did not expect that the child chosen by destiny is such a sharp tongued brat."
The figure appeared inside his head, finally showing his image form to Viktor who had been very patient with the mind invader. It was an old man with dry, long, white hair, he wore a white toga, he had gentle eyes, a proud nose, and a strong chin. He looked very familiar to Viktor for some reason, and he felt no ill will coming from the image as he probed it with his mind.
"Great. Now we can finally talk properly. You look familiar. Do I know you somehow old man? My head is literally screaming at me right now and is telling me that you are someone with an important connection with me."
Viktor looked seriously curious as he stated his claim. The old man on the other hand simply closed his eyes.
"Hmmm. Fine. I really don't have a say on who fate chooses to be my successor anyway.... First, let me introduce myself. My name.... is..... Merlin.... Merlin Ambrosius. The enchanter, the dragon tamer, the bringer of light, the guardian of Gaia and your great great great great great grandfather."
Merlin's form slightly bent and spread his arms like a diva.
'Tsk. Poser.' Viktor tutted in his head, he was already ashamed of his ancestry from this alone.
"If you are who you claim to be, and you truly are my ancestor, then what does that makes me? What am I? I for one am surely not human! Who am I, and what do you want from me?"
There was a mixture of cynicism, sarcasm and pure curiosity in his voice as he asked the one who claimed to be Merlin.
"Hahaha that is great!!! Boy!!! You are more than what I have ever hoped for!!! Smart yet quiet and humble, powerful but is calm and calculating, only someone like you can right the wrongs I have done during my time in this plane. What we are, hmmm.... a question I have asked myself a couple of times without coming up to a proper answer or conclusion, I used to believe that we are a branch of neo-humans with greater thought capacity and potential who branched out from the muggles, but now I think we are artificial beings with a mixture of different race characteristics like the dragon's body, the phoenix's magic, the wolf's regeneration, and others for we are similar and are much more than what they could ever be.
Now what I want. Is for you to stop my sister. Morgana. She was banished by yours truly from this realm but I have prophesied afterwards that she will once again return with more power and a renewed hatred for those who are of not the same origin as she is."
"Old man. If you thought I am but a naive child then you are mistaken. I am not related to you at all or by any chance. Why should I believe what a mind invader like you says? You are of more than a cause of danger to me than some non-existent witch who is supposed to have died at least a thousand years ago. Now leave! Leave before I grind whatever it is you are and obliterate you from inside my head."
Sigh*
Merlin (claimant) looked defeated by the stance and behaviour of his supposed descendant. He looked down for a short while to think, looked straight into Viktor's eyes and once again spoke.
"Then at the very least listen to what I have to say."
The claimant said with a pleading tone.
"Fine. Then you can scram afterwards."
"Morgana. My sister. The death bringer was banished from this realm in the past as I couldn't bring myself to cause her pain. She was sent somewhere else. Somewhere far. But she did not forget about what happened and instead grew in power in order to get her vengeance from me and the muggles. She will return. With a whole army of demons behind her. Viktor, child, whether you like it or not, you are without a doubt my descendant, as only someone of my blood can open the puzzle that I have especially designed. I am Merlin the enchanter after all. So prepare, prepare and stop Morgana once and for all. Protect the realm. As it is your duty from the moment you are chosen by the KEYSTONE."
The old man was clearly looking at the black ring in his right index finger with a mysterious smile.
'Keystone!'
"Alright I will heed your warning... under one condition."
The old man's lips are about to curl but stopped midway.
"What condition?" He asked.
"You have to willingly let me read your memories." Viktor smilingly answered.
"Wha... What do you mean scry my memories? Are you truly deprived to have such an inclination as to read one's mind just to feel comfort with the truth? No way!!!"
"Then we'll have to do it the hard way."
