Shane wanders down the space station silently amongst her peers. Looking away from the armed soldiers surrounding them, echoing their presence out wide for all to see. Intimating any semblance of disorder. She could tell the glances of her colleagues were that of frustration and unease. Tired off the 1000 floors they had to trek down. All from the broken lift shaft. A pain less than the one she had made.
It was easy to make a rash move right off the get go, to immediately go up against a beast unknown to their own was another. To be blind from her rage that was their destruction. Any other individuals can fair better with their abilities despite the tiring scenes, yet she continues to persist for the moment. Being a bystander to a lot of matters didn't help. She looks upon the group reaching the lowest surviving floor. Still evidently damaged from their battle earlier. Lingering around debris awaiting their final assault.
Two armed soldiers awaited her arrival, holding a spacesuit and a spear. Pointing directly to a room hidden with the walls, her own spot of privacy as they awaited outside in misery.
He turns to face the man in the casket, crossing his hands in disappointment. Ignorant of the murmurs amongst the group, worried for her safety. Much of the members outside had been informed of her antics, turning away in disgust. Ready to leave her for dead. He sighs, ignorant at the alien moving out from the changing room. Murmuring amongst his own kind. A mere civilian at the wrong place and at the wrong time, more united with his family than the group themselves.
"Tell the rest to not interfere in this battle, let them watch as usual. It is after all their responsibility to watch its fall if I go and cheer if I rise."
The creature told to his own kind, prideful and cautious of their king now in a spacesuit of his own. A white skinny suit that illuminated mysterious hexagonal patterns on his clothes. His backpack small, riddled with sockets and buttons that entitled itself with the jet pack it received. Filled with fuel far too little for his taste. It's helmet shaped like the head of a bee, carving itself with his weird looking proportions. A package obtained from the group themselves, still mysterious as to their means of obtaining such a well made suit for the both.
"Are you ready?"
She nods at the creature upon the machine's message, looking out for spots in the debris filled asteroids. All artificial during it's reconstruction from a mineral mining site. A rocky abyss that seek to do more than throwing them off course. Less like the machines spectating from afar. She subtly clenched her provided spear. Illuminating the spacesuit tightly securing her in place with thick skinny cladding. More of a skin suit than a space suit, even if it didn't look like it. Plotting her next move from the emotionless monster. Left to contemplate her decision to do this in the first place. Still thinking of the times she sat with Sergio in their youth. Children forced with a death wish.
"May the light shine on the both of us."
The machine looked at the both wandering out of the air lock, slowly making their way to the spot of their choice, far out of range from the other. A rock with a small crevice. Barely illuminating the giant creature reverting back to her own original self, calmed by the retreating alien forces keeping their distance from their forces. Her skin broken with billowing black smoke, remnants of civilisation which once stood in place. Nothing more than extra scars for the ever present climate change occurring around her body.
She silently turns away, thinking of the strange words that was that creepy machine. An object with no religious faith. She herself was no religious person, only depending on her own self and her friends who were the only caring souls in the abyss of darkness. For a creature to be so religious, he was nothing more than nobly desperate. She looks through the crevice. Spotting the creature pointing his spear directly at her spot, leaping into the air in a cloud of dust. Meeting her stunned gaze. A frightening monster beginning to engage in battle.
A tumultuous battle she'll end.
She leapt out of the way, avoiding the cloud of debris slamming onto the light helmet. Looking out for the monster swimming through with ease. Illuminating a gush of white air pulling him through, gazing upon the woman furrowing in ferocity. Hardly avoiding the slashing of the long spear advantageous to her own predicament. Tearing off bits of of her suit in the stinging cold. Too slow to react in the new equipment she had been provided.
She boosted herself to safety, frightened at the creature's adaptability in battle. Trumping her on all fronts despite her training so far. A training tougher than those of the elite. If their claims were true…
Behind her, the creature leapt from asteroid to asteroid in a cloud of smoke, clutching his spear tightly. His determination unyielding, keeping up with her speed despite his little use of the thrusters hardly emitting white smoke. Eager to charge her once again despite her desperate attempts at chucking rocks. A small nuisance.
"You dare run away!?!"
He crashed down upon the artificial rocks, kicking it's debris across the field. Smashing upon the asteroid in front of her in a cloud of smoke. Blinding her opportune moment.
"Oh shit!"
She quickly turns to face the sparks clashing upon her damaged space suit. Scrapping by from his spear desperate to push through her own.
"I got you!"
She lifts her spear weakly, struggling to push through with her lack of physical strength. Desperate to push her way out of her sticky situation. She could feel her eyes flutter to his strength, silently echo the cries of unforgivable disgust. Still deciding to go ahead with this brazen move. She clenched her fists hard, looking at the cloud of dust blowing upon his face. Kicking hard across the wrecked stone and crashing upon his helmet in the head.
"What?"
He staggers back, careful of the lady nearly smashing his helmet. Left to kick her newfound momentum at her rapid response. Clashing with her thrusting spear in her attempt to break free from his grasp. He gritted his teeth, frowning at the usual response of a combatant.
In his little time spent in the meeting room, the stories that was the organisation of The Light of Men slowly trickled out. The powerful weapons and humans in their disposal far too numerous to count. Most with supernatural abilities far from his own. The woman he stood against was far too exceptional for ruining many cities from her rash antics. Even with her powers taken from her, her ability to stand toe to toe was supposedly guaranteed. He turns to his opponent, her face tired and desperate. Unlike the warmonger everyone perceived.
A disappointing affair.
He kicks her down hard in the gut, looking upon the tinted glass of saliva and blood spewing from her mouth. Struggling to stand upright in defiance of his antics. Her posture trembled, firmly weak with her spear at hand. Facing the creature without yielding with emotion. Blind of his annoyance.
"You still dare to stand!?!"
He kicks her down right on the same spot again, forcefully kicking her onto the artificial asteroid. Blowing itself into pieces from her hard crash to the next. He fumed, slowly landing with the dwindling fuel he had left. Hissing and creaking against the woman getting up on her feet. Weakly grabbing her spear once more. Silently pointing back in defiance.
"Give up!"
He kicks her with his spear up in the air. Unleashed with all of his rage onto his final showdown. He didn't care if she had a plan, her persistence to continue on was much more splendid than he had expected. Nothing more than a woman still not giving her all to fight.
He can feel it, the one sided affair he always had felt in his rise to the top. The anger of her peers to do all she can. The thoughts of his own creatures, horrified at the hidden menace that was the planet and their foolish inhabitants. Still fighting despite all the ships they dispatched across the planet. An unforgivable mess of individuals rotten to their core. Monstrous aliens.
"GIVE UP!"
His spear thrusted through her raised hand, spewing red across the perils in silence. Stopping right in its tracks against the tip barely touching the cracking helmet and her dim face. Unmoved in his display of strength. The tainted spear glinted across the sunlight close by. Illuminating the stunned spectators watching the world stand still.
"Is this…"
She switched around their positions, ignorant of the stings fuelling her adrenaline. Pushing him down onto the asteroid in a blast of air. Clouding the clanking of metal behind him.
He tries to move around, turning his stiff head upon the spear struck next to his neck, dribbling with bits of his spacesuit. Overshadowed in the darkness of the silhouette ripping the spear from her palm. Leaping from the momentum of the outpour of rocks and charging right against the creature once forcefully pummelling her down into the depths of darkness.
He raised his arm up, trying to cover his face in defence. The sense of metal dribbling across the air cowered his heart. Frightened with the fear of emotionless intent. He head straightened out, firmly standing against his fear and broke free, turning back around to smash her tough helmet with his fists. However as he saw her face once more, his punches began to slow, trembling upon the sight of a broken and cornered rat. Her face was an indescribable flurry of emotions. Still continuing to fight despite the odds. Already out of her depth and lacking any solution to the fight. Still breaking the thrust of his fists with the firm grip of her hands. His shallow voice shuttered. Unable to describe the fear that he never witnessed after all these years. He cowers under the shadow, listless in his failed endeavour after all he had done to stay on top.
"Is this why they fight?…"
He looks up at the woman, stopping just short of his head. Silently breaking into tears in the tinted helmet despite her firm stance. Unarmed and out of options. Left to face a failure of biblical proportions.
"Sergio… you are here aren't you…"
Her chest feels warm. Embraced with the tenderness of a childhood she never got to remember. The sense of pizza still lingering in the hollow air. Nudging her senses awake with her breath. Living on alongside her in her heart. Forever.
"Yes… I've learnt… Will you stay with me?"
She didn't look back, smiling upon the silent tears flowing through her eyes. Glad to return to her side after all that they had been through. Her invisible features still present. She looks down upon her rival. Stunned at the strange short display he had witnessed. Turning down in disappointment at himself. She loosens her grip, lowering her weapon at her rival. Barely illuminating the ghostly presence of Sergio in the cold darkness. Side by side.
"Yes."
She reaches out to the alien with a warm smile. Stammering in the freezing cold against her deep internal wounds, coughing up blood still gargling in her helmet. She furrowed her eyes, clinging on to the frozen creature awe struck at his loss. Slowly coasting her way back into the surviving airlock. Hissing open slowly against the echoing eardrums.
Her vision narrowed at the blinding light, her grip far too weak to continue fighting. Dropping her spear onto the ground in a loud clatter of metal. She looks ahead, watching much of her group smile in victory, still hiding their brooding worries after all she had been through. She can't tell if her actions were truly warranted. But their warm smile was more than enough to atone for her recklessness.
She looks amongst the aliens by his side, moving their leader to the wall with dubious stares. Mindlessly worried for the creature's shattered pride, still staring broken-hearted at the monster who defeated him. Still helpful in aiding his way back from his stunned disbelief.
"Why?"
