Reunion

Mizuki focused on the jutsu as he slowly but surely began to extend it's range, searching for familiar Chakra signatures.

One meter extended into two meters as that turned into five meters and so on and so forth.

And yet, despite his best efforts, he could still not detect the chakra signatures of any of their chakra signatures.

From his perspective, he could detect tens of chakra signatures, unfortunaetly though, their teammates were not among them.

Although he could detect a couple of familiar chakra signatures that he would later realize belonged to some of his former classmates at the academy.

Mizuki exhibited the jutsu to it's limit, stretching the range of his jutsu to it's absolute limit of four hundred meters.

Mizuki again, searched the range of his jutsu, observing the chakra of those caught within it.

Finally, after expanding his search radius to it's maximum capacity, Mizuki was able to detect a couple of familiar chakra signatures.

Mizuki: "Found them, about four hundred meters to the south east."

Asuma: "Awesome, we are gonna go after them now right?"

Mizuki: "Ya, although I need to recover some chakra real quick, so you can go on ahead"

Asuma had a hesitent look in his eye, although quickly disspeled it as he nodded in acknowledgment to Mizuki before leaping away.

Seeing that Asuma had vanished, Mizuki activated the jutsu to confirm that there were no other chakra signatures in range.

Seeing that there was nobody, Mizuki got up and cracked his neck before slowly, ominously walking towards the unconcious bodies of the two genin with an apathetic expression on his face.

....

Mizuki quickly caught up with Asuma as they progressed towards the chakra signatures, each of them tossing playful banter back and forth as they jumped from cliff face to cliff face, slowly but surely progressing towards their target.

Eventually, after spending just shy of ten minutes manouevering through spires of stone and various rock structures as they navigated their way through the valley, they were finally able to find them.

Mizuki and Asuma both quickly applied chakra to their feet and quickly scaled the clifface, leaping over the edge once they reached the top, coming face to face with the group that they had been following.

....

Anko was having a long day.

They were first approached by a rather foolish team of genin, who believed that they could beat her and her partner just because they were younger then them and girls.

Needless to say, a mixture of lightning style jutsu and genjutsu made them quickly regret that decision.

Currently, they were waiting at the site of their previous battle, as her partner used her genjutsu to try to scan information about the other contestents and which areas they were in.

This last part was particularlly important as it allowed them to know where not to look, saving them some time in regards to where not to search.

Her thoughts were quickly instructed as two figures leapt up from the cliffside, startling Anko.

Anko: "God Damnn that was quick."

....

Anko sat down with Asuma and Mizuki as they all quickly exchanged information about what had happened so far.

The little information that they had was similar, although they could both offer unique insights about where not to look for the outpost.

Hearing movement behind her, Anko turned her head only to see her teammate, Kurenai, shake her head.

A sign of her not gathering any valuable information.

Kurenai: "Nothing. No valuable info on potential rivals nor anything about where the base might be. useless."

Hearing that Kurenai could use the unconcious opponents to gather information, Mizuki turned to Kurenai.

Mizuki: "If you had any other...samples..could you by any chance get information from them"

Kurenai looked at Mizuki, who had a mischevious glint in his eye.

Kurenai: "Well, yes, provided I had their body of course. Oh, and they have to obviously still be alive."

Mizuki nodded before pulling out a scroll, which he unraveled to reveal that it was densely packed with different symbols and shapes.

He weaved a single handseal before smahing his hand against the scroll. With a puff of white smoke, an object appeared.

Eventually, the smoke cleared and the shrouded object came into view.

Anko: "That is-!"

Kurenai: "Where did you get that!"

Mizuki had a mischevious yet proud smirk on his face as all three of his peers could now admire his handywork.

Asuma: "BRO WHY DID YOU TAKE THE BODY ONE OF THE UNCONCIOUS GENIN THAT WE BEAT!"[1]

Mizuki had a proud smirk on his face as he explained his logic.

Mizuki: "well, chances are that he would have woken up before the test ended, and beating him up again would just be boring.."

That last comment earned him a few "interesting" stares from Kurenai.

Mizuki: "So given that it is required to pass with your teammate, I thought that I would use the chance to seperate them so that they can't pass."

As he said that, Mizuki gave them a beaming smile, which was somewhat conscerning given the context that he was doing so whilst discussing his kidnapping strategy.

Kurenai took a deep breath and sighed as she inspected the unconcious body of the genin corps member in front of her.[2]

Kurenai: "*sighs* alright, I will see what I can do."

Mizuki: "Thanks!"

Mizuki gave her an innocent smile, which, if one did not know the context, would believe belonged to a perfectly innocent and naive child.

After ten minutes past, Kurenai returned with some good news after interrogating the fresh meat.

Kurenai: "It appears that he saw Raido[3] just before he ran into you guys."

Asuma: "Alright, thats where we should go next than!"

[1] Living objects can be stored in scrolls, as seen by how chunin were sealed in the heaven and earth scrolls in the chunin exam.

[2] Genin corps is a fanon theory which basically states that if there were only 9 genin per year (kakshi said three teams will pass), then the military of the villages would be fucked. Not to mention how they would be wasting recources on the other 21 kids who would not make it. So, the kids that fail are put in genin corps instead, which is basically a division of canon fodder for the village if they ever need it.

[3] Raido is the Tokebetsu Jonin with the fucked up face who was a member of the hokage guard. I attached a link to him on the naruto wiki just in case you forgot him. (God knows I did), he is Asuma/Kurenai's genin teammate.
