Chapter 31: A calling

Falling and then a splash. Owen was under the water. He was unconscious only for a minute then opened his eyes. Darkness surrounds him and he tries to claw his way to the surface. He was too far down though. He tried the best he could to hold his breath. Higher and higher he tried climbing. More and more the pressure built against his lungs. He was dying for air. He couldn't breathe. The darkness seemed to surround him as if it was watching him. He was struggling and struggling. More and more, he felt his strength weakening. He couldnt claw anymore. Right as he stopped the darkness seemed grip onto his arms like vines. It ensnared him and held his arms out to his sides. He tried breaking his arms free with the last bit of his strength, but it was no use. He couldnt muster anymore strength. He held onto whatever breath he had left until it hurt his lungs.

His face turned purple as he held it in, but he could do nothing. He let out what was left of his breath. He felt his lungs fill with water. Is this how he goes out? Is this the end?

The vines then drag him down. Down to the depths of the dark ocean Owen had landed in. Sploosh! Owen some how left the water and was held suspended by the dark vines. He coughed extremely hard. He seemed to expel all the water from his lungs. He could breathe clearly. He opened his eyes and looked around.

Above him looked like the surface of the ocean he fell in. It oddly acted like a ceiling to the dark room he was in. The room was pitch black except for a dim light in the middle of the room. To the left and right of him looked like two other people were ensnared and suspended just like him. He squinted to try to figure out who they were. To the right, it looked like Trent, but it looked like he was unconscious. To the left, it looked like...

"Emily? Emily!," Owen said shouting at the unconscious Emily ensnared in the dark vines. His voice echoed through the pitch black room.

"Emily! Wake up. Where are we? Emily?," Owen said trying to get Emily to respond. She just sat there motionless. She didnt make a noise or move at all. He then turned his attention to Trent.

"Trent! Trent! Where are we? What is going on?," he said to Trent who was doing the same as Emily did.

"You are bounded," said a mysterious voice coming from the darkness. It seemed to be coming from in the darkness past the dim light. Owen turned his attention to the dim light.

"Who is there?," Owen asked.

"An answer to your new found misery. You have called to me and I have answered,"

"I didnt call anyone."

"In situations like this, I dont need someone to call for me. You will be the next one who is right for me."

"Right for you?"

"You have a lot of potential."

"Maybe you have the wrong person...I'm weak..."

"You are now child, but I will make you stronger. I will give you reason. All you need to do is to make a contract with me."

"Contract?"

"Seek me out and the answer will be clear."

"What do you mean?," Owen asked as the voice faded. He then seen a silhouette of what seemed like a man slowly step into the dim light. Owen looked in confusion as the vines started piercing through his skin. Owen let out a scream as the vines entered through his shoulders, into his back, and down his chest. His hair then started growing and turned light blue. He didn't know what was going on.

He then woke up. Everything was back to normal.

It was all just a dream.
