Old Friends

"I see." Jurgen didn't have the heart to break her heart for the second time.

"Its ok you don't believe me. I know you don't want me to be sad. Thank you, but even if Damon is gone, I want to believe he is still alive. You are all I have left of home." She kicked a rock.

"Lets go back to Drite's to rest. Tomorrow morning I have things to do. Would you like to come along?"

Iona takes Jurgen's hand. Growing a small smile and looking away.

"Hey Jurgen?"

"Yes?"

"I think I did something bad." Her heart sank she didn't want to admit that she may have started a war.

"Why don't we talk about it tomorrow?"

Iona nods and the two walk back.

Near the entrance of the city she saw a Darang attached to a pillar. Smiling she went back into the house.

When morning came she was up rather early.

"So you're the kid who is causing all the trouble. My brother came home upset because of you." Another boy she hadn't met yet glances at her.

"I am Iona, you are Frije? Is Ail alright?" Iona sat down.

"You don't care about Ail, you are a freeloader kid. Nobody likes a freeloader." He leaves the room. Iona's stomach rumbled, it was true she hadn't eaten dinner, and now was regretting it.

As she put something together for her to eat, slowly others came downstairs. She hadn't noticed cause she was upset by what Frije had said. When she didn't answer their questions they just smiled and watched. To them she had to be in a zone.

"Woah, Iona! Whats all this?" Jurgen's voice pulls her from her sorrow.

"I guess I went a little overboard…" She looked away. Jurgen could tell she must still be worried about yesterday.

"Ail lives!" Drite cheers as Ail rubs his eyes.

"Dad! No one could sleep with this smell." He wanders to the coffee pot and then to the table before even looking up. By doing so he jumps up.

"Iona! I was worried sick about you!" He goes over to her and hugs her.

"Where did you go? What were you thinking?" He shook her to which he felt the large hand of Jurgen on his shoulder.

"I was making a few friends." She seemed sad by this phrase.

"If you guys ain't gonna eat I sure will!" Drite starts eating straight from the plate.

They all ate rather well, but still Iona seemed distant. Jurgen and Iona went to do the errands Jurgen needed to get done.

Jurgen began arguing with a man about payment, Iona decided to wait outside. The streets were busy, she was in wonder just watching the world go by. Where was Damon? Why didn't he tell her about the prophecy? Could the war be stopped?

"Hey girl! What's your name?" A lady yells from across the street.

She ran back inside.

"Jurgen?" She tugged on his sleeve.

"Not now Iona!" He said in an angry heat.

"You ugly, worthless piece of trash!" Yells the lady from across the street as she bursts through the door.

"Saundra?" Jurgen turned around confused and then starts laughing. It may be the happiest Jurgen had laughed, while Iona had been around.

"You shoulda met up with me in Housen Sea Village! It was a riot! But you snooze you lose!" Jurgen punched her arm playfully, but it seemed to do nothing to her.

"Because of your stupidity I have had to deal with these two idiots, one which is her…"

"Damon! Where is he?" Iona made herself known.

"Haha right outside of town with his little girlfriend. She seems to be super interested in…"

"Right Right!" Iona inturrupts. Jurgen picking up the understanding nods.

"Well I'll be… They were right. Come on, your brother is waiting."

"I don't see what all the fuss was about, apparently you are a big deal. I was expecting you to be made out of gold or something." Saundra glanced down sighing.

Jurgen laughs before looking at Iona who looks like she still needs to tell him whats bothering her.

"Why don't you go meet up with your brother while I finish my stuff up and I'll come join you later." Jurgen rubs her head.

Nodding Iona takes Saundra's hand unexpectedly and pulls her towards the entrance of the town.
