In a nondescript little cavern in the ground along the side of a mountain in Georgia, USA, a tiny sparkle started to shine in the darkness. Gaining consciousness amongst all of the other little sparkles Emerald came in to being. His Mother, a lovely band of Quartz, the Matrix of the cavern was so happy to see her little sparkles starting to shimmer one by one. Each one gaining it's own color and unique hue. His proud Father a mineral stalagtite looked down upon all of the tiny sparkles groaning in approval.
Each day the little sparkles bathed in the water and minerals that seeped into their cavern funneled down to them along their Father stalagtite and held comfortingly by their Mother Matrix. Growing little by little until no longer sparkles, but peaks, clusters, and crystals. Some growing rather quickly, others taking their time, and others still lazily staying close to the ground cozy and warm next to Mother.
Little Emerald chose to work on improving his color rather than growing too big and too fast. Unlike some of his brothers and sisters , he just wished to be as good as he was able to be. Not needing to be grandiose, nor too large, nor all too showy. Just focusing on being being unique and possibly of a good quality. Time passed slowly and years passed by.
