The Gift from the God

Snow checked her body. She felt an unusual energy that she used. A power that she had gotten from each dungeon raid.

Closing her eyes, the energy became excited throughout her body. She could feel the power increasing, telling her to spit out the name of the spell.

Snow roared, "Division of the Sun!"

A small circle of sun-like energy appeared zipped around her, revolving around her like a planet.

Dairen curiously walked over, taking a few steps before he stopped. "What is that?"

Snow spoke, "New power. I suggest you take a step back." She raised her hand out to stop him from carelessly getting closer. She wasn't sure what was going to happen, and the small suns were flaring up, ready to activate.

Dairen leaned down to pick up a rock from the ground. He rubbed it in between his fingers until finally, he threw it up towards her.

A blast of energy shot out from one of the suns, completely eradicating it into dust. Snow was shocked at the amount of precision that it had. She raised her hand to pull back the sun's power, one-by-one.

But before all the small suns could disappear, a powerful force of energy shot outwards with a rumble. The energy blinded everyone. When Snow opened her eyes, a large part of the ground was gone.

"You did that?" Dairen was amazed; he blinked a few times.

Snow was silent.

"Wow," Dairen silently chuckled, "I don't want to be at the receiving end of that."

"You and me both."

Snow silently agreed to herself not to use this ability unless necessary. The powerful pull of magic was alluring, but the amount of control she needed was dangerously difficult to control.

"Let's go back and practice for a while."

"I agree."

Dairen was back in his training to increase his magical power. While Snow took the time to absorb the pure light energy dancing in the very air. She could breathe easily, allowing her magical energy in her body to gobble up everything.

She was impressed by the amount that she was ingesting that she was falling asleep in place. Both Dairen and Snow were in a loop cycle for the next sixty days, exchanging energy between Yggdrasil and growing their mana pool. It was a strange sixty days as they both grew steadily. They took short breaks to eat, but they were often cooped up in the room, training.

Having their energy forcefully taken made both Dairen and Snow weak at different intervals of the day. They could barely move from their spot, crossing their legs as they sat in place. It wasn't until night time for Snow to be able to move again.

Eventually, in the third week, Snow and Dairen were able to spar. Snow had purposely asked Dairen to practice in a hand-to-hand fight. They tangled amongst each other, trying to overcome each other in a battle. It was hard at first, especially when Snow didn't have any magical energy to boost her power during the day, while Dairen had ample amounts, but at night he struggled while Snow was back to her usual self.

Mike, Audrey, and Rodney would come in to assist in practicing. Sometimes Tommy and Tamaki would stop by whenever they got the chance too. As they were in a large contract with a private company, they didn't have time to stop by as often as they would like.

During the practice fights with the others, Snow had to learn fast in protecting her body. The everyday strengthening magic and protection that she would typically have wrapped around herself were gone. Every day, she was littered with black and blue bruises—some the size of a handprint, the others the size of one's fist.

Snow carefully plastered a homemade cream on her stomach. The last punch that Audrey had given her was still present. When done, she stretched, getting ready for the next round with the others who were sweating.

Her magic was sealed entirely as the Yggdrasil tree was bent on taking every ounce of her magic the longer she stayed. What was surprising was that there were large white and blacks buds present, waiting to bloom on her branches.

Snow could tell that those buds had a large amount of magic from Dairen and herself. She even thought about going up to the tree a few times to pick one of the buds. That urge went away when she approached the tree, almost as if it was blocked out of her mind.

It was a hard three weeks training without magic and with magic.

Getting magic taken away was one thing, getting magic shoved into one's body was another. The overcompensated magic that she couldn't merge well caused more harm than heal her. Absorbing the magic was not easy as the magic from the Yggdrasil tree was densely packed. This in itself was a problem mostly because her body could only take so much without tiring her out and making her throw up quite often.

Dairen had the same problem, but he was a bit worse than hers. There were a lot of times when he was pale and weak in the first week.

Snow woke up, feeling the disturbance in the air. The magical growth around them had stagnated, and the energy would not be accepted for a while. Yggdrasil had its fill, quietly consuming its morsel underneath the moonlight.

The size of the tree had significantly grown. Every time Snow stared at the tree, she couldn't help but be in awe at its splendor.

Snow checked her body for improvements. A stark increase in mana capacity doubled, making her lips curled up in pleasure at the effort she had purposely put herself through.

Looking over, Dairen was silent, barely breathing.

Snow got up.

"Dairen?" Snow called out, wondering if everything was okay.

Dairen didn't reply.

Snow didn't call him out again. She looked down at her watch, realizing it was 6 pm. Her stomach grumbled, telling her that she was hungry. Walking out the door, she headed straight to the cafeteria.

She had noticed many things about the unique skills that she had gained from the dungeon. The four: Resurrection, Purge, Holy Redemption, and Division of the Sun. Each of these spells used a vast amount of energy that cost quite a bit. If she looked back, she could only have used Ressurection once or twice on a massive scale without blacking out. Now that her body and magic has grown, she was sure that she could use it about four times without fainting. Compared to Purge and Holy Redemption, which luckily it didn't take a terrible amount.

Now that she was given a new power, she realized its usage was close to the energy amount when the Resurrection spell. Her control still lacked, but the thought of using this newfound offensive power gave her more leeway to do things a bit more aggressively.

Snow brought back two trays of food. Each one had a meatloaf, mashed potato, vegetable, a drink, and cookies in both hands. She placed the food in front of Dairen with a soft clink.

Waiting for him to wake up, Snow gobbled all her food, enjoying the chocolate chip cookie's sweet taste that she had gotten for herself.

Pushing the plate aside, she tilted her head, taking a good look at him.

Dairen brows started to scrunch up, his hand trembled. His breath even becomes shorter, causing him to hunch a bit over. Snow worriedly stare, wondering what was going on.

Sweat dripped down Dairen's face, and his lips turned pale.

"Dairen?" Snow called out to him. She scooted closer.

The fluctuation of energy around him was getting stronger and stronger.

Snow was lost. The Yggdrasil tree wasn't sending him any more magical energy or taking anything from him, so she wasn't sure of the disturbance.

"Dairen?" Snow came over, placing her hand on his forehead. A string of hot temperature blazed across his body, making her alarmed.

"Dairen!?" Snow unconsciously yelled. She rummaged through her storage, in her watch, and pulled out a few ice packs, medicine, and even a blanket.

Dairen's body shivered even harder than before. His body collapsed, falling backward.

Snow reached out, stopping him from hitting his head.

"What's going on?" Snow was confused. For the past eight weeks, nothing like this happened before. She couldn't help but worry if his mind was poisoned or possibly the strenuous training had finally caught up to him and started to break down his body.

She wished dearly that it wasn't so as her speculation became more wilder than before.

Placing him carefully down on the ground, she placed an icepack on his head and wrapped him tightly in a blanket. When done, she jumped up to grab the nearest intercom to call in for help.
